Could be right but Jensen is cheaper and younger and a better skater. Good for an expansion team.

Neither Anderson or Campbell is the answer. FA or trade is. Vanecek is a cheap young goalie with potential that the caps won't protect. Kempney a solid D. Many Leaf fans have proposed trades for Vanecek on this site.

Ditto on Fleury. Kuzy solves 1C problem. Caps get minor cap relief and solid G.

Vanecek is gone. If not protected goes to Kraken for nothing. This way we lose a D (Dillion or Jensen) to help the cap. Schmidt is fast, has handled big minutes and while expensive at least we know the cost.

Kuzy to MN
1st line centers don't go on the market very often. When the Caps won the cup he led the playoffs in scoring. He has scored 80 points in a season. He is a top 15-20 Center. Not one C of the Wild is a top 30. He is a great skater and passer, just what Super K needs to become a top ten player. Schultz is no slacker. Can run a power play. Did in Pitt. Second group with Caps only because of Carlson. Boldy has proven nothing. Prospect but may become nothing. Plus MN gets a second pick to play with. Both teams take risk. You are going to lose Dumba one way or another, either to Seattle or a trade. This makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Not sure I agree. Neither Panik or Jensen is an elite player. Virtanen may be. He is young, fast and big. I think both Jensen as a RD and Panik an analytics darling have value. I do agree both moves need to done in tandem. One doesn't work without the other.

DeMelo fits under the cap even with Dillon signed
Good idea. Lundqvist will be closer to 2 million. DeMelo might be had for $500,000 less. Boyd likely traded for a 5th or 6th. Spooner gets a real chance, maybe even McMicheal on a wing. Regardless Caps only carry 1 extra D and forward to get cap compliant. Extending OV, V and Sam will require moving Kempny, Hagelin and or Ryan.

Ego will not let him take less than Backy. Maybe 10 for 3 years is the best Caps can hope for. He and Backy ride off to the sunset together.

Agree Kuzy looked disinterested this year but bubble is weird. Cup year he lead the league in playoff points. Wizard with puck, fast and would be make Rangers 2C with your wings incredable. Why is everyone so down on Deangelo? One of the best RD on offense. Put him with resigned Dillion and watch him move the puck. Rangers don't need him with Fox and Trouba on right side. Time for Caps to retool.

Really OTT is a dumpster fire. 2nd round picks make the league less than 50%. Panik is a legitimate 15 to 20 goal wing. Responsible, on a reasonable contract and good in the locker room vet. I don't see a lot of Senators that can do that. Copley is a good AHL goalie who play adequately as a fill in on the big club.

Probably not. Danault will be your third line Center. A 50 point player. Not a #1. Orlov, skates, hits and will be your #1 LD. He is better than everyone of your LD's. 1st pair D's are not cheap.

Orlov would be an asset to a lot of teams. Domi is a gamble for any team. Mal. set with Weber and Petry on RD but revolving door of mediocre on LD.

Orlov is a top 4 LD. Skates well, tough, on the second power play. Kuzy is a dynamic, skater and playmaker. 70 point player. Together Orlov and Kuzy would add more O than what Caps get in return.

Was originally a wing in Russia when he lead the WJC in goals. Might be a better player as a wing with less defensive responsibility. He's a great skater, dynamic playmaker, on the soft side.

Leafs
No, NO, HELL NO! For the Caps. Oshie is a heart and soul glue team player with real grit. Gudas adds toughness on the backend and another enforcer to help Wilson. Also real underrated as a defender. Leafs lack backbone, with little toughness, lots of skill but soft. Nylander is another soft dangler. They are not beating the Bruins in the playoffs with this Charmin soft roster. They traded away their toughest players to Ottawa and Colorado. I wouldn't make this trade even if the Leafs sent back a 2nd instead of giving one. Toronto reminds me of earlier Caps teams that could score at will in the regular season but got run out by tougher teams at playoff time.

Selling Lars way too low. He could garner two seconds or a low first. 1) He is a proven playoff performer 2) Good contract 3)Good team player 4) Great 3rd line center, Good D, some O. I wouldn't move him for it least a year, season McMicheal, Protas and Leason another year. I would be inclined to hold on to Djoos this year unless 1) The youngsters knock it out of the park and 2) are going to play regularly. Get Alexeyev and Fehervary top pair minutes in Hershey. Bring them up next year and trade Orlov for real assets this summer. The rest of the trades are fine.

Next Year
Gudas was and is one tough SBO. His analytics are solid. He will get paid at least 5 mil in next contract. He is a RD in a system bereft of quality RD in the pool. If Gudas is signed, Orlov is the dead weight to go to make room for our stud LD prospects. NYI needs a quality 3rd center. Bellows is a risk but with a 2nd a good trade. Love Eakins tenacity, speed and younger. 5mil may be too much but he is getting close to it somewhere. Overall Caps need draft picks, to get younger and play a heavy game.

Pipe dream. AZ has used most of its cap room. No deal. Tkachuck not going anywhere. Calgary fans would lynch GM if they let him go. Mathew is untouchable particular on a soft team like the Flames who lost some of its grit when Hathaway split. Try again. Give up draft picks, dump Backes, resign Johanson.
