Kuznetsov as a cheap PLD alternative
A far, far better idea than adding Dubois. Our top 9 would be: Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe, Moore - Danault - Kaliyev, Fiala - Kuznetsov - Vilardi. Think about it.

METROPOLITAN Trade partner and Bergeron one more time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AgentWebster</b></div><div>Where is the value in Tom Wilson for a first round pick? Explain it to me. In 10 years he only played three full season and those three full seasons came in his first four years. His style of play with his body breaking down does not justify a first round pick. In the last three years he’s played only 158 games of regular season out of a possible 246. I think you need to reevaluate what Tom Wilson is worth. With Washington on the verge of a rebuild a second round pick, and even a prospect is more than fair. Although I did not put a prospect in the deal, so if you wanna beat me up for that fine.</div></div>
In the past 3 years he's played 158 out of 220 games, with 49 of those 62 missing games coming this year because of a freak ACL injury. To put that in context, the two years before those he played more games than Pastrnak. In his career yes he's only played a full 82 three times, but he's played in at least 75% of his team's games in every season he's been in the league but this one. Once again, Pastrnak has only played a full 82 twice. It is fair to be concerned about the way his style will impact his body going forward, but what you cited as his inability to stay healthy up to this point is not only misleading but your numbers are straight up wrong.
Like it or not Wilson is a top 6 winger who can consistently put up 40-50 points. Throwing out his age 18-21 seasons, during which he clearly should've been playing in the AHL or juniors, he is a career .54ppg player. Throw out his age 22 season and that jumps up to .61. Not world-beating numbers but once again in line with what you would expect from a solid top 6 winger.
Of course, points aren't everything. Wilson plays a uniquely disruptive and physical style that NHL teams and fans love. He hits and fights yes, but he is a truly elite puck retriever that also has enough skill and offensive ability to actually play with the best players. Add onto that all his other "intangibles" such as the fact he is a cup-winner, plays on the PK and PP2, is one of the caps' most consistent playoff performers, and is clearly being groomed to take over the captaincy when Ovi and Backstrom retire, and you end up with a truly unique player in the league that checks off every box that NHL GM's salivate over.
Tyler Bertuzzi, Tanner Jeannot, Nick Foligno, Barclay Goodrow, and Blake Coleman have all returned 1st round picks in recent years -- those were all at the deadline too, rather than the offseason. Jordan Greenway, Lars Eller, Garnet Hathaway, and Connor Brown returned 2nds just this past year.
On top of all of that, the Caps are not rebuilding, want to extend Wilson, and as I said earlier view him as their future captain. They also already have huge holes at top 6w. He may be objectively "worth" a 1st round pick -- comparable to Bertuzzi. What it would take for the Caps to actually entertain moving him, however, is much more than that. A single 2nd round pick in next year's draft is not even worth the retained money.

I would accept that PIT package for 2 of those 3 guys (1 being Ullmark), all 3 of them make BOS lose quite a few key players and leaves some big holes in the Bruins lineup
Buying out Reilly probably better, that way u keep JD on top line and dont force Lysell (who isnt NHL ready) into lineup
Wilsons worth much more than a 2nd lol
Id probably ditch Forbort somehow and sign someone cheaper, 5mill is an expensive bottom pair
All of ur signings are pretty good tbh and that 4th line could wreck havoc on the league lol

Caps trade is delusional. Caps counter with a 2024 3rd for McAvoy and you’ll thank us for it.

Appreciate the thought and logic here but I think this team takes another step back with this construction. That center group is extremely questionable and weak.

Overpay for Nylander. All for adding Nylander but not at the cost of Willy who won’t be moved.
Toews and O’Connor are not fits. Toews is a really good player but the D is set and we need to upgrade the top 6 not the bottom 6. Plus we shouldn’t trade McMike.
Osh isn’t going anywhere. Hopefully he gets healthy and is solid like he was at times last year. Outside chance at LTIRetire but doubtful. Don’t think anyone would take him.
Don’t think Bunting or Tarasenko are great fits.
I think Kuzy prolly stays so really we are looking at plugging McMike in and upgrading one top 6 winger.
Again great work, but not the route I think we should go

This is the exact move the Caps should not be making. It’s time to develop the kids and make good 1st round picks. Only way a package like this should be moved if it’s for a young stud

Seems like an overpay and a bad decision for caps. He’ll be 35 when an extension kicks in, right? When does his play fall off? How long of a deal does he want? Just ramp the package up and go after lindholm at this point.

Capitals pass. They can buy out Mantha and it’ll only cost 1.3m. They are very high on Protas and I would t trade him and the 40th overall pick for that
