This was made based off of the reports and rumors that I've seen. I agree that it's a lot to pay for Giroux but he's still a solid 1C and with his resume a trade like this isn't too far off.

so your getting an upgrade in net, and saving cap space.
what is the sharks motivation to do this deal?</div></div>
Yeah I see that now, thanks!

Talbot and Reimer are around the same age, have similar enough contracts, and have similar base stats (Save % and GAA), but Reimer is better Analytically. This trade can go either way depending on how much the Gm's value analytics, but I would agree that Reimer has more value than Talbot.

No cap room for Draisaitl, Barrie ranks 27 in xOFF/60 while Ekblad and Petry are 3 and 4. Even if there was cap room for a $4+ million defenseman, there are still better options available.

Bill Zito's going to pull something amazing out of his ass to resign Barkov, Ekholm, Tippet, and some of the depth pieces after this season. Future aside, this team is deadly and they would be one of the favorites for the cup.

Ceci was good with the pens and is worth the 3rd as of now, but you're right about them not having cap.

I'm guessing you're talking about the DeSmith trade. The Pens are going to be missing Crosby/Malkin for half the season, the Metro is stacked and they could easily fall out of the playoffs. No the trade doesn't help their situation but DeSmith is looking like the backup and I doubt he's going to carry the pens to the playoffs.

This trade is ONLY if the Isles know Pulock wont resign. The return is good for a rental of his caliber IMO and they need a top 4 replacement for him (Barrie), if Pulock comes with an extension expect him to cost more.

He's very underrated so there's a good chance he would go for less than he's worth. The 3rd and 5th could always be removed and EDM could add a B level prospect and/or a mid-late pick.

Jones had the impact of a bottom pairing defenseman while playing top minutes on the team. Bear has had a far better impact while playing second/bottom pair minutes.

To expand on this, if NJ wanted to add Hughes they should look to include Ty Smith in the package. They are very similar players (all offense no defense) and allows for more diverse player types in the NJ d-core.

Bouchard is already a better defenseman than Jones, there's no chance the Oilers trade him AND Holloway for a former average top 4 defenseman who has performed like a bottom pairing/extra defenseman this year.

No chance Toronto moves Matthews, especially for that package. Hart will bet on himself rebounding and becoming the elite goalie he's shown glimpses of, so a bridge deal is more realistic for him.

But in return you can only protect one of Ek, Foligno, or Greenway. Dumba is the odd man out on this team and he needs to go for cap flexibility and the spot on 2RD for Addison.

No chance Wennberg gets 6 mi. He had a good season after being bought out by Columbus but no team is going to invest 6 mil over 4 years for a middle 6 forward and he would need to prove that his play is sustainable before he gets 4+ mil over multiple seasons.

I think Guerin will make some deal with seattle to protect both goalies and it will be interesting to see what he does with Dumba.

Rossi and Fiala are borderline untouchable, Rask and Dumba will be easily replaced by Rossi and Addison. The 2022 first would need to be lottery protected as well.
