Question for Dallas Fans
I would say not likely. I know rumors say they’re looking at D, but it would be depth if at all. They’re 7 deep, and I believe they’d only push maybe 2 players down the depth chart if the right player & price were there. Nill likes to carry 8, but betting he’d go with this 7 if market too expensive. Still time to evaluate. I’m also watching monahan as a target, as I could see a fit on the 3rd line, pushing Steel to 4th to give the Stars as strong of 4 lines as there are in the league. Close now, but push Dadonov to #13, Dellandrea to #14. Even if they stay as-is, this team has a legit shot.

All in this season
Not sure we need to make that many moves to be all-in. Goaltending is on a lot of team's radars and isn't widely available, so even though ours has been just ok, believe we're gonna have to ride with it. Like our D once Miro is back. At fwd, only move I'd potentially like to see would be bringing in Sean Monahan if cost was right. Fwds #12 & 13 (Dadonov & Dellandrea) could be included in a trade, or if not, at least be who Monahan would push out of the lineup as depth in case of injuries. Just thoughts as of now, could change as we get closer to deadline. If health holds up, we're in pretty good position for a deep run.

Looking to roll three lines
Like the Dellandrea trade. Solid kid for a building team, and gives Dallas cap flexibility. Dallas also has 5 kids that could come up from a depth perspective, so works for both sides. Dells needs to play, and Dallas can’t keep guys like Stankoven down much longer.

Challenge is Lindell has a NMC. I don’t believe it’s in the plans to trade either of them though anyway. I do believe they plan to allow both Lundkvist and Harley to take steps next yr, so imo Miller is the D available for a trade. If there’d be interest in Miller, maybe there’s a deal where Lizotte could be involved the other way?

Number of teams I think this would work with. Chose Chicago due to our previous trade with them at the deadline…to reacquire our 3rd in this draft, send a solid vet in Miller to help them fill out their D core for next season

SJ Tweak
I had meant to put Johns on LTIR, edited, which puts Stars under the cap. My guess is this will happen. Essentially Dallas is deep on D, but thin on fwd. Especially to start the season. SJ is deep at fwd, but could use D, especially RD. Helps both teams heading into season.

Dallas Stars roster tweaks in preparation for Oct. 9
Kiviranta and Hanley should be moved to the NHL roster, maybe Caamano too, based on how season finished (and likely will start next year)
Shea should be moved to minors
There may be other parameters used when setting these, love the site so ignore if so, but as an avid Stars follower these moves would bring closer to reality heading into tomorrow.
Thanks for everything you guys do to make this site a reality, best site going. Daily visitor more times than I should admit!

Well then
Interesting approach. I like the clean sheet of draft assets, but believe you've sold yourself short on at least 2 if not 3 of these deals. On the Klinger deal I see you're making room for Pietrangelo, but debatable if straight up for Nylander is worth it. Similar debate on Rads deal. Contracts on both could force both teams to add pieces to balance them for both. I like the Faksa trade. Comeau deal may be a little light, but I wouldn't be necessarily upset if it went down.
Couple other flaws you might run into - Honka won't be an option as he wants out. Hope is we can get a draft asset for him at this point. Additionally, you'd be forcing some youth into the lineup pretty quickly at fwd, which may end up being a necessity given revenue challenges, but would certainly put risk there until guys like Robertson, L'Espy (if returns), Kiviranta solidify their roles. Domingue isn't my favorite back-up option either, but understood options will be limited there.

Like this deal for Dallas. Would likely spur more on our side, but solves a need without negatively affecting the fwd group given current assets ready to flex up. Let's do it.

I agree Harley is close. He was our best D in preseason. Conflicted on how they’ll approach. Normal circumstances I’d think they ease in alongside a depth D to support the learning curves of the league. But, this yr is different with how teams are having to overcome the revenue losses, so could see teams like Dallas forced to go younger with current assets vs. spending in free agency. Good thing is we’re positioned pretty well either way.

Mostly solid ideas. For me, I’d rather not go the Thornton route, and would add depth on D so to not rush Harley. Oettinger is another challenge, my bet is Dallas attempts to add a proven backup for 2 yrs, and allows Oettinger to ease into role vs. fully having role in rookie season.

If NJ would accept with Janmark, I’d think Dallas would happily make the deal. Problem is Janmark is a UFA, and mostly a depth fwd at this point in his career. Given where devils are, I’d think this falls short for the asset Palmieri is.

Don’t see Dallas trading 2 C’s for a winger. Faksa could be in play, but if they targeted palmieri I’d think they’d offer more of the Faksa+prospect+pick route. I like palmieri, but not sure it’s what we need given the price.

Dobby not likely to come back for 1 year though, we'll likely have to replace, which will be tough.

Less than zero chance you're getting 4 assets for Getzlaf at this stage of his career, but especially not this year's 1st & Robertson. Dallas has plenty of veteran leaders to carry into next season, would expect more youth to get a chance given unique circumstances all teams will be facing until things get fully back on track.

Reality is Dallas wouldn't do this either. If we gave up that much for one player, we'd be bad for a number of years while attempting to restock, kind of like...Buffalo.

Giving a 6th rd'er for Goose is a steal, and yet it would be a tough call. We really need a true RD, I know he can play the right side, but he's a left shot. If Arz deals him, it'll be a tough loss, and good gain for the receiving end. Was tough trading him years ago coming off his best season as a star imo, and if it happens will be the same scenario in Arz. He's still got years left.

No way Dallas makes that deal. Petry is a good player, but not at the expense of Robertson and our 1st in this upcoming deep draft. We do need a RD, but there are others we'd pursue before going this route at that price imo.

Doesn’t work for me. Marner deal wouldn’t work for either team. Feel like you’re giving Dickinson away for free. Forces Dellandrea and Harley into bigger roles than they may be ready for, etc.
I know I’ve mentioned possibility of having to go younger and with more internal options than usual vs free agency due to revenue losses, but feel like this could be forcing too many dynamics to change in one offseason.
Having said that, lot of new territory upon us, so could see some things we’d likely not typically expect from a number of teams including Dallas.
