Dallas also has 5 kids that could come up from a depth perspective, so works for both sides. Dells needs to play, and Dallas can’t keep guys like Stankoven down much longer.</div></div>
Yeah, I think Dellandrea has just run out of runway in Dallas, not unlike Steel did in Anaheim. There's a pack of guys right behind him hoping to push people off the main roster and he's just not cementing his spot. I think he'd fit better in Cronin's system as well, I like that he has a great motor and plays with snarl, i've been a fan of his game for a while. Would be a natural Carrick replacement.

If there’d be interest in Miller, maybe there’s a deal where Lizotte could be involved the other way?</div></div>
LA has no interest in any RhD on any team unless his name is Cale Makar. But I believe you if you say that Lindell would be unlikely to waive his NMC and Jim Nill unlikely to trade Thomas Harley. Thanks for the response!

At this point I don't see the Hawks sending any picks away without better picks coming back. There's no point in helping other teams fix their own cap problems.

It's identifying his must sign date. It shows his rights expire June 30th 2023.
After second look, you did identify a bug on our site. It should be displaying as his rights expiring June 30th 2022.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>blu</b></div><div>you are below cap space</div></div>
That's a pretty easy fix for Dallas. All they have to do is "send down" Kiviranta & Robertson until they can put any combo of Johns, Seguin, and Bishop on LTIR after the league year starts. Once they can use LTIR, they simply recall Kiviranta & Robertson.
This still leaves them roughly $400K above the cap, but I don't think they would shy away from trying to send Dowling to the AHL via waivers. If he gets claimed, it's not much of a loss at all for the Stars. Those moves get the Stars under the cap for this kind of move, should they elect to pursue it

Oettinger is another challenge, my bet is Dallas attempts to add a proven backup for 2 yrs, and allows Oettinger to ease into role vs. fully having role in rookie season.</div></div>
I’d be fine with your Oettinger suggestion. I put him there cause I felt he was very close to being ready and can learn from bishop but I’d be okay with your idea. I also think Harley will be ready. He looked fantastic in the pre season this year and I think he’ll make the jump this season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Karr31</b></div><div>Tough decision for Dallas. 2nd rd'er probably gets the green light. Tough part is, Oleksiak hasn't ever really fit in Dallas, but he's certainly got more experience than Rosen whose yet to really establish himself across multiple teams and seasons. The $1M retention makes Dallas hesitate, but I think in the end it's too hard to pass up the draft asset and a young player would likely at minimum is equal in effectiveness to Big Rig.</div></div>
The interesting thing with Oleksiak is that his underlying numbers have actually been really good. For example, he ranks in the 99th percentile in expected goals against this season. So that’s why I targeted him here.

I’ve always loved Montour. His price tag would be quite a bit higher tho. They gave up a first rounder to get him

For sure. Personally I’m very curious what Risto might look like with a high end partner like Miro and our strong forward support. Larsson or Risto or other right handed options make for some nice balance on the back end

Our bigger need is on the right side, he's versatile, but might not be the perfect fit. If I was in the GM chair and this was offered though, I'd think long and hard about it, he's still got plenty to offer for that price.</div></div>
Goligoski plays on the right side. Stars should absolutely take this if offered. He fits fine next to Heiskanen, fixes their 2RD problem, and doesn’t tie the Stars to another massive veteran contract.

Doing it Again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Karr31</b></div><div>Certainly appreciate the opinion, but I don't believe perception is reality on this one. Dallas isn't unhappy at all with Pavs. Production may be down, but it's more the system. He's not alone on the roster from that regard. He's been a great addition, and price is just what the market dictated. You need veterans like him, this team is built more for the playoffs than reg. season, so still time for the acquisition to bear fruit.
Honka is definitely done here. 3rd not going to happen, that's agreed. Wonder is now, can we still get a 4th or 5th this offseason based on his play overseas? Time will tell.
And imo - a 1st never enters the discussion with Labanc.</div></div>
Looking at Dallas, I also don't see the deal happening really. I see the logic, but Dallas is in win now mode. And yes, Pavelski is going to help that more than Lebanc at this stage. The deal smacks more of rebuild on the fly than winning a Cup with Seguin and Benn in the line up.
Further Dallas' system is, well, thin. So the 1st is needed. Couple that with Nill actually having some wiggle room with the cap, and they can add some offense (which I hear is the objective this offseason).
I can see why the deal makes sense, and why it doesn't I guess. When you can argue both sides, usually a deal that doesn't work well lol

Flames Trade
Oleksiak keeps getting traded for fourth picks. I think teams line up to pay a second rounder for Bennett. Values are way off, and I think the Flames brass likes Bennett too much to move him unless it's in a package for a huge piece to the team moving forward (theoretical Hall trade as the player in the player + prospect + first +).
I would send a late pick + Czarnik for Honka and sign him to a 2 x 900k. Dallas gets a cheap 3rd/4th line guy with some skill & speed for their 7th defense man. We could then run:
Gio - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Brodie - Honka
or
Gio - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson

Dallas Stars Trade Deadline 2018
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Karr31</b></div><div>I mostly agree, though I do believe this would inch us up in goal production, it definitely wouldn't be by much. I like the Hayes addition if we can sign him to essentially replace Spezza down the middle beyond just this season. Will also add though, if you're adding current roster players to each deal (Nichushkin & Janmark), then trading away Ritchie and Honka might be better served for the offseason if you believe those deals will get you in the playoffs. Otherwise you've depleted your depth, and could pay for it if any injuries hit during the run.
Kreider is definitely high on my target list if the price is right. I also believe Ferland could be a nice add given it wouldn't cost as much.
My bet is Nill is looking for value adds that won't cost much, yet could provide boosts offensively. He believes the team is close, and has leaned on the fact D and G are top in the league. If he can provide a spark to lift the offensive production, this team could definitely make a run. Hoping he doesn't stand pat like last year, as it's evident we need support on our 2nd line.</div></div>
I agree. I hope Nill would give a pick+prospect for a decent goal scorer near the deadline, like Kreider or for example Nyquist. Spezza is a decent 2C, but he needs the player that can score alongside him.

NY Rangers Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nhlpengs</b></div><div>I don't see why the Rangers say yes to this. Nichushkin has 7 points this year, with no goals, and only 23 career goals in 203 games, Hansson is 23 and still playing in Texas, which is sad because if you take one glance at the Stars blue-line, it isn't good, so he'll most likely never be an NHLer. Kreider on the other hand has 37 points in 48 games, and has been a solid 40-50 point guy his entire career. This trade makes no sense for New York</div></div>
Stars blue line isn't good... they're 4th in the league in GA/GP

Nichushkin was a former top 10 pick that could flourish with a change of scenery. I put Hansson because NY looks like it could use a D prospect. Given current prices, perhaps Honka would've been a better offer, which I believe Dallas would consider...also a former mid-first rd pick. Once past players, obviously pick round could be negotiated.
Always funny getting feedback on here.</div></div>
you are sending Nichushkin back to the coach he couldn't stand so much he defected to russia. Hanson is not a good enough prospect. You offered a 5th rounder-- just lol.
For kreider it will take a b+ prospect and a 1st MINIMALLY. and that's if the rangers undersell (considering the pick is a late pick most likely)
