Sorry, just seemed like a reason they would be willing to move him, and yeah Johansen maybe should be moved separately, just figured since the Flyers are rebuilding but also sorta competing, taking on a player to get extra assets would make sense, but yeah completely forgot about their history in Columbus.

I'd imagine he could easily move to the LW, as a left shot, but if not it could be Behrens or maybe Gulyayev, I just assumed they would rather the forward since at defence they have York, Andrae and Zamula on the left, and Drysdale and Bonk on the right, but never bad to have insurance.

And yeah the Torts treatment is the reason I would target him, but that's the problem with guessing on value, cause I would think if Briere valued him more he would've asked Torts to give him better opportunity the whole time, but I don't know what's going on behind the scenes so maybe he tried.

And yeah the Johansen contract is slight negative I think (Just cause I think they could move him at a retained price and get something for him), so maybe should separate that part out. I just felt the flyers would be sorta sellers, since they are technically rebuilding I think even though they are in a playoff spot, so taking on a negative asset to get something would make sense

I get what you're saying, although comparing the two doesn't do anything, it's about the direction the team wants to go, if Dallas shouldn't risk it than what's the point of not selling pavelski, but I guess if they just want to maximize the potential of them being a constant bubble team. Maybe I'm underrating the risk, but risking 3 years of a bad contract(which I personally think is unlikely to happen) for the potential of 2-3 years of a top pairing dman makes sense for Dallas imo if they want to compete, but I guess it all depends on how you value Petry.

I do think you are probably underrating Petry a bit, why is it more of a risk for a 34 year old to decline than a 37 year old? Not saying he's gonna be worth it for all 3 years, but I would be surprised if he's not very very good. There are so many positive changes that will happen when he's traded, mainly getting to live with his family and being on a better team will almost certainly improve his play, and there's a good chance that he goes back to being a top pairing guy for a year or two imo.

I think you are underrating Burakovsky a bit, this is the first season as an Av he hasn't been on pace for over 60 points (He's on pace for 59.6), and yes he's inconsistent, but when he's on he can create goals from nothing (He had 17 points in 15 playoff games in the 19-20 playoffs). Also, I don't have much worry with the new deals, Mackinnon's already said he'll take a discount, so just give him all of Johnsons money, and while I'm not the biggest fan of bridges, I think it makes a lot of sense for both Newhook and Byram. There is also a real possibility that all the players I resigned cost less, I leaned on the high side, but I could easily see one or two taking less than they're worth (Also he's 21st in even strength points per 60 over the past 3 seasons)

Sean Monahan is a no, he's not great anymore(tbh honest was never that good), injuries took away best attribute his shot, so I wouldn't want to take a chance on him, but I don't mind the idea of someone who can let you give Newhook some easier matchups. but I would be a bit worried about not giving Newhook any skilled linemates, so I would want them to add a skilled player to play with Newhook and Lehkonen in this case
