One Free Agent and Trades
Targeting Haula is a smart move, he easily breaks the top 6 in a pinch but prefers the controlled minutes. Oleksiak pickup is good as well, Dallas could use Anisimov and it feels like he's run his course with Chicago so far, and it's good cap burn. I think Chicago might look into aquiring an extra backup goalie, since Crawford's health is a huge question mark, and Delia can't quite take over yet.
Overall I like it.

REALISTIC As Possible
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckPal</b></div><div>I don't get where people think Marner is going to get almost 2 million more than Kutcharov got? His max he could see is 9.5 but realistically seeing Kutcharov is a more proven player he will at max see 9 million. Cause if they need to goto 11 to resign him to 5 making him the highest paid winger in the NHL they might as well sign him to 8 cause not only is that not a discount like matthews just signed it overpaid by 2 million.</div></div>
Kucherov is an outlier due to the way taxes work in Tampa. Canadian teams need to offer more money in their contracts to compensate for such.
Kapanen's contract seems solid, Marner is probably getting something in that ballpark (inb4 11.16mil), rest seems fine.

We're extremely short on defencemen. Why anyone would trade anybody other then Alzner is beyond me.

Because of that I'd rather Filip Broberg. He's looks like an absolute beast.

After seeing that first line in action, I'm pretty hyped for tommorow's game.
Xav Ouellet was a beast as well, glad we found a replacement for Lernout.
Also Peca is suprisingly fast for a small guy, love his game.

Vegas would not have given Glass period. It would have been ONE of Hague or Branstrom (Probably Hague) + Suzuki, Tatar and a first with conditionals.
Duchene has very little value.
Rest is trash.

Price to STL...again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Architect</b></div><div>I don't care if we're a playoff team in 3-4 yrs. That's not good enough. If Price and Weber are on board with that cap hit, I want "cup contender status" in 3-4 yrs. but that would sound unrealistic, that's why you were very careful by using the word "competitive". Which it could mean different things. But assuming both of them will be effective till their 40's, that's unrealistic and too big a gamble. If I see regretion in 5 yrs when Price is 35, what the heck do I do with him and a contract that will definitely be untradable even if I retained half the cap/salary?</div></div>
You deal with it cause Price is a montreal legend, and we don't **** around with our legends too often.

The ONLY player trade able on HABS
Nah I'd flip that the other way around, the only players that are "Untouchable" on MTL are
-Price
-Weber
-Mete
-Drouin
-Domi
-95% of our prospects.
The rest aren't exactly going anywhere, but if a team wants to pay the price for Petry, then we won't say no.

Thread:
Price to STL...again
Wew this thread is nutty. Price and Weber are not going anywhere, period. We took Weber specifically so that he would retire as a Montreal canadian. If you look at habs prospects we've planned to draft players to eventually grow to replace them when they get older.
Weber is a vet, but his skill set and his strengths are going to regress at a slower pace then others. I'd say he has a career into his 40s, same with Price.
They are the leaders of this team, and yes, if we're honestly planning a rebuild, we should look to move them for young players, but at the end of the day Price has played the most games as our goalie then any other franchise goalie Montreal has ever had. We're <em>going</em> to retire his jersey for sure, and in 10 years time you'll see a whole generation of players who geared their game to match Webers and Prices.
Also, Montreal is not rebuilding. They won't need 3-4 years to be competitive again. A healthy Price and Weber already makes us a playoff team. and besides those two most of Montreal is under 25 years old. We're "building for the future" according to GMMB. And I'm happy with it.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Architect</b></div><div>So what if we retain salary? We got the cap space</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lavsim96</b></div><div>and in today's NHL having a 33 years old injury-prone slow moving shutdown d-man is really the trend...Hell i like Petry better.</div></div>

Chill, Gallagher isn't going anywhere, but if he was, something like TJ Brodie + Bennett wouldn't be bad. I think Calgary would also keep their first round, they went into the ast draft with their top pick bein g a 4th round I think lol

training camp surprises
Suzuki <em>might</em> be ready this year, but I seriously doubt CopCarBugatti is. I think I'd rather MTL take it easy this year, let the kids develop elsewhere (Liiga for Kotka, OHL for Suzu, College for Poehling) and get them all a year older for 2019. Then we're really cooking with gas.
