(COL/SEA) - Tatar for 2024 5th (SEA)
Seems pretty fair, though I like this from COLs side since they essentially signed a UFA and flipped him for a pick

Montreal Canadiens signed Jake Allen (2 Years / $3,850,000 AAV)
MTL is rebuilding no question but you still want to ice a competitive roster and Allen does that. Plus this allows them to insulate Cayden Primeau (if they still believe he can be a 1A/1B) for the next two seasons.
Smart move to keep Allen around IMO, slight over pay but nothing crazy

(NYR/DAL) - Lundkvist for 1st, 4th
Drury had no leverage and got a 1st in a stacked draft for a guy who wasn't making the team. Fantastic for the Rangers

Montreal Canadiens signed Kirby Dach (4 Years / $3,362,500 AAV)
Decent aav for a guy I believe will top out as an above average middle six forward, good signing by Hughes.
However, this doesn't change the fact that trading picks #13 and #66 to acquire this guy seem like a big mistake.

I voted yes simply for the potential of this contract. If he improves under a fresh start in MTL, this could look good.

Montreal Canadiens signed Arber Xhekaj (3 Years / $828,333 AAV)
For those wondering, his name is pronounced “Jack-eye”.
Great name, and a solid player, especially considering his age. If he works on his game he has the tools to be a defensive defenseman similar to Patrick Nemeth. (In fact their height and weight are nearly identical)
Also, if Xhekaj were to play an NHL game, he would be the first player in NHL history to have a last name beginning with an X.

Montreal Canadiens signed Jake Evans (3 Years / $1,700,000 AAV)
I'm okay with this contract, because I believe Evans will be worth it and our center depth means he isn't likely to be pushed out of a spot soon.
In general however, I dislike signing bottom 6 players to extensions ahead of time. We aren't currently pinching pennies, but deal with the big contracts first and then give the other guys what you can afford.
If Suzuki or Caufield end up looking for $11M, those pennies start to add up.

That’s a nice piece of work for Bergevin. Evans is a great bottom 6 centre with a bunch of speed and is great defensively. Locking him in at less than $2 million for a good chunk of time greatly helps Montréal’s cap situation.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Dylan Strome (2 Years / $3,000,000 AAV)
I like this for both parties. Chicago doesn't fully know what Strome could be so a cheap bridge is good, while strome is betting on himself knowing he is going to be the 1c next year with lots of special teams time.
Win-win.

That’s debatable and Kreider’s reputation of injuring goalies doesn’t help him. But with you’re emoji usage i imagine you don’t actually believe it

Dustin Tokarski also known as the guy who replaced Price in the 2014 playoffs against the rangers after KREIDER INJURED OUR CHANCES OF WINNING THE CUP... anyway good signing as he’ll be a good 3rd goalie who could play a couple NHL games
Edit: Seattle exposure requirement maybe

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Patrick Maroon (2 Years / $900,000 AAV)
Tampa is look to win the cup for the next 2 years with this signing.
Maroon is a great guy to have around though, works hard, throws the body, can get under the opponent’s skin, chips in on the scores. I’m sure there’s other teams that may have offered more for his services too.
