Gunler was taken in 41 Perrault way down at the end of first round and Reichel was a big reach from CHI. There were better players at 16 and Guhle was one of them.

Drouin isn’t getting traded. We’re well balanced now, and if we keep the goalscorer over the playmaker while Caufield comes in, we’re going to be left with not enough people dishing the puck. Plus Drouin is younger and more cost effective. And his contract isn’t an overpay like Tatar’s could be.

The team had almost non-existent goal scoring ability, mostly playmaking types. Stop with the hate.

Are you kidding me? This is a steal for the Sabres... The fact that they were able to get him at all is a freaking miracle.
Amazing move for the Sabres. He'll either help the Sabres make a run for the playoffs (unlikely) or they'll flip him at the TDL to a contender.

I fully understand why he’d do it for the stats and stuff, but how can you say all you want to do is win and sign with the team with the longest playoff drought? Shocking stuff to me.

He'll get arbitration at the end of this contract. Montreal gets a competent defender for basically nothing and kicks the can down the road to when hopefully more money is available to actually pay him.

Most of them are better players too.
But Price, Weber, Petry, Drouin and Josh took all the cap space.</div></div>
<strong>Allen, Tatar and Weal wont be resigned. That $10.5M will cover all the raises and they can still spend all the way to the cap this year.
The situation is NOT this alarming since a bunch of professionnals have been planning this for years.

I might prefer 2 years of Domi then because there's wayyy less risk involved.

Alright... now this has shocked me, and the entire hockey world. You cannot legitimately say you saw this coming.
My opinions on Domi are known, and I still think the trade is fair. Domi is overpriced at 2 years. This is the contract domi should have had.
This could look like a steal of a contract near the middle, or it could collapse. I don't think you give a guy with an injury history this much term. Apparently it was all or nothing with anderson. I like the risk to this.
In the end, I still understand why both GMs wanted the opposite. I see why Bergevin would never give Domi the contract he got, and why Jarmo would never give Anderson this contract.
It remains a win win trade. Both teams got exactly what they wanted in the exact term they wanted. Both teams are running risks, just the complete opposite risk.

To me a good deal for the Sharks. Gets a player that you play at the NHL level for a pick 3/4 years away potentially.

(LAK/CHI) - Morrison for Määttä
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>I don't understand this from Chicago at all. Olli Maatta is at least a serviceable top 6 LHD that you traded Dominik Kahun for. The Hawks get back an ECHLer/AHLer which essentially is a wash. So begs the question, why wasn't he simply bought out?
$680K for 4 seasons. Hawks save <strong>more</strong> cap space and get essentially the same return. Nothing.</div></div>
2 years at $750k is less than 4 years at $680k. Simple math. Don’t see anything wrong with it.
Also they have two RDs coming up who are NHL ready in Mitchell and Beaudin. The other RDs are Boqvist and Seabrook so there’s no room for Maatta. This was to make room for the younger guys.
