Lighten up Francis. Just having some fun. I know what's going to happen. I know it's going to take longer, but don't think for a second that most Jackets fans are done with the "please be patient" line, they've done this for 22 seasons. IMO, I still think that Jarmo may be up to something big yet this summer. Don't know why, I just think that. Getting Gaudreau was out of character so to speak, so why not just make this an out of character offseason? Take a breath and enjoy the ride, it's been fun so far.

Agree on Blankenburg. Kid's got heart and compete. A good ingredient for the future.
Bemstrom, ah no thanks. Seen enough of him, time to move on. If it bites us, it bites us.

Malkin Leads the Way
If that defense doesn't improve, which this is the same group as last year, then it doesn't matter who is up front, they won't get far in the playoffs. I like your sentiment about Malkin, but I agree that he is not coming here, unless he wants to leave a legacy and bring along the young Russians in the system (Marchenko, Voronkov and Chinakov). I think you overpaid for Roslovic too. I think Jack would take the hometown discount since it's his hometown. The max I'd go would be 4M AAV.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewPawlack</b></div><div>boston trade is horrible. DeBrusk is not worth that in the slightest.
Also why are people treating nyquist as a cap dump? Did he not put up 50+ points last year and is only turning 33 with 1 year left? That's called a deadline rental</div></div>
I like Gus, he's been a stand up guy that wants to be here. If this team were going to be a contender next season, I'd keep him, but with the mode we're in, I think I'd value his 5.5M cap hit more than the 50 points. If the club decided to keep him, I wouldn't be upset about it. Just having some fun.

In my mind, I believe that Jarmo is going to trade the 6th pick for an immediate, significant defensive upgrade. Chychrun makes huge sense, but as we've found with Jarmo, he will surprise you. With Korpisalo re-signed today, the GAA problem in JK/JD's minds is on the defense. Losing Jones and Savard was a massive blow to the defense and this offseason now becomes critical to reset, rebuild, retool, whatever you want to call it.

If the Jackets are retaining half of Jones salary, I don't think they'll be sending a first round pick to Buffalo too. Just take the picks out and make it a hockey trade.

what jarmo wants for jones
Are Dach and Boqvist generational talents? Maybe I'm overlooking something. Did Hawk fans say this about Saad and Panarin? Jarmo acquired them, who's to say that it won't happen again. I can appreciate Chicago fans overrating their prospects, while making Jones seem like he should be playing for the Tallahassee Warthogs next year. I'm sure if there's a deal to be made, we'll let the adults go ahead and sort that out.

Then Jones won't be going to Chicago. I think one of those three need to be involved for a re-signed Jones to go to the Hawks. Mitchell and Beaudin are okay prospects and the 11th is nice and could probably be used, but if Chicago doesn't up the ante, I don't see how a deal gets done. Jarmo and Bowman have made previous trades, so we'll see what happens.

I'd rather see Murphy than Mitchell if I'm the CBJ. Unless the CBJ would be attempting to flip Chicago's first to do something else, then I'd either need Murphy or pass on this deal.

Not sure why CBJ would even consider this deal. Neal has no place on a rebuilding team and the CBJ give up the two best players in the deal. The juice isn't worth the squeeze on this one.

Not even with an extension. If the Jackets are going to give up their starting goalie, top 5 pick, and take on Ristolainen's contract, their has to be more coming back from Buffalo.

A lot of proposals I've seen involving the Jackets on this site, the return is minimal. Low prospects, low picks, used puck bag, etc. I know the Jackets had a rough season, but they were a playoff team the 4 years before that. There's lots of players that teams would want, but you've got to be willing to pay fair value. I think that's where many lose sight of things, trades should be a win-win for both teams.

I agree that there's probably a deal to be made there. I wouldn't be shocked if Buffalo and Columbus make a deal this offseason. I don't think it will be Eichel, but it could be Reinhart. This roster I put together was more of a guess and having some fun.

I probably should have put a condition on the trade that Jones extends. IMO, LA is a place Jones would sign long term, in fact any large U.S. market for that matter. He's looking for the bright lights and to be marketed. He's got the one national commercial, but really nothing locally. I think that is part of the Jackets franchise problems. They don't market their players properly and don't give them a chance to expand their reach and future income.

That trade should be straight up or Buffalo sending a pick to Columbus for taking on Risto's contract. No way Columbus deals a first.
