With a pending FA, I don't think it does because odds were that we were moving him anyways. The Flames have made it clear there is no rush to move Zadorov, worst case scenario is he stops playing hard, but then he's ****ing himself more than anyone because that hurts his UFA bag. Best thing for Z is to play his ass off, get traded and get a big ass bag this summer; which benefits us and him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>You may not <em>accept</em> the arguments that have been presented but the objection is sound: the Avs build their team from the D out. Giving up a strong puck-mover and skater like Girard (who happens to be young and have a good contract) in order to get a guy that has an injury history that is a borderline 3C/2C when they have other options already on the team just doesn't make much sense. This isn't to say Devo is a bad player; he'd probably do well with the Avs. But what they give up to get him isn't a good move for them considering how the team is constructed and the way they play.</div></div>
Avs litterally won the cup without Girard and Dvorak would be the perfect cheap replacement for Kadri, who they will need to replace to contend again.
Also you should <em>accept</em> Dvorak is the one with a good contract and Girard the one with the injury history. See what I just did there? The same negative and positive points you made applies to both players but you only retained the ones that fits you.
It's just the perfect fit.

(CGY/MTL) - Monahan, conditional 2025 1st for future considerations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil</b></div><div>Here are the conditions associated with the first-round selection acquired by Montreal:
1. In the event Calgary's own 2024 first (1st) round choice is selection 20-32 (inclusive) (following the determination of the 2024 NHL Draft lottery results), then Montreal shall have the option, exercisable until 48 hours prior to the start of the 2024 NHL draft, to exchange the conditional 2025 or 2026 first round choice to become Calgary's own 2024 first (1st) round choice); or,

2. In the event the conditions to trigger Montreal's option as noted in #1 above does not occur, or Montreal declines to exercise this option, the following conditions shall prevail:
A) If both Calgary's own 2025 first (1st) round choice and Florida's 2025 first (1st) round choice (previously acquired by Calgary) are not in the top-10 selections of the 2025 NHL Draft (following the determination of the 2025 NHL Draft lottery results), then Montreal shall receive the earlier of the two (2) stated choices; or,
B) If Calgary's own 2025 first (1st) round choice is a top-10 selection and Florida's 2025 first round selection (previously acquired by Calgary) is outside of the top-10 selections (following the determination of the 2025 NHL Draft lottery results), Montreal shall receive Florida's 2025 first (1st) round choice).

3) Florida's 2025 first round draft position is better than Calgary's 2025 first round draft position; then Calgary will transfer their own 2025 fourth round choice to Montreal.
B. If Calgary's own 2025 first (1st) round choice is a top-10 selection (following the determination of the 2025 NHL Draft lottery results), Montreal shall receive Calgary's 2025 first (1st) round choice, subject to the following condition below:
1) In the event Calgary's 2025 first (1st) round choice is the first (1st) selection overall in the 2025 NHL Draft (following the determination of the 2025 NHL Draft lottery results), Calgary will retain its own 2025 first (1st) round choice and Montreal shall instead receive Calgary's own 2025 third (3rd) round choice and a conditional 2026 first (1st) round choice. Armia, Allen, Anderson and Toffoli stay IMO. Plenty of other pieces to move and you still need players to rebuild with.
That EDM trade makes sense for both team.
I would prefer a 1st to Kratsov incertain attitude and some team will put one on the table for Chiarot.

Trade deadline - teams that make sense
Kudos on one of the most reasonable Habs sell off threads that I've seen.
My thoughts:
-Kravtsov could make sense for the Rangers trade...I'd like to see them make a move for a longer term LD, but the valuable seems reasonable. Could see them trying for Hampus Lindholm though.
-The only thing I don't like about the Oilers trade is them adding $1.75 mil to their payroll for next year. Would make it tough to upgrade in net, but maybe they're content with Skinner/Smith (I wouldn't be...)
-4th seems fine for Kulak. *MIGHT* be able to squeeze a 3rd, but there's a bunch of LD's on the market.
-Pettersson has actually been solid this year. Matheson might make some sense, and it would be nice to see Pettersson get some more minutes, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that contract is terrible.
-I'd be curious to see what the market for Hoffman actually is...He's always been a near-lock to get close to 30 goals/82 games, but the best offer he could get last offseason was 3 x $4.5...I just can't imagine a ton of teams lining up to take 2 x $4.5 on at this point. Might be someone though.

Is this team fixable
Without even touching the trades - I think you've bought too low on Strome, way too high on Klingberg, and trading Savard RIGHT after signing him looks really bad - philosophically, no there is no fixing the Montreal Canadiens this season. Bergevin and the Canadiens brass will have the luxury of pointing to the vast number of sustained injuries to start this season and they're within every right to do so, but the Canadiens have over-achieved for a while now.
There is so much money tied up in middle-of-the-roster players and a very noticeable lack of the top-end talent that is going to be needed to remain relevant in an ever-improving Atlantic division. Suzuki is excellent, Caufield will get there, but every other facet of this roster is questionable. Petry and Price cannot be solely relied upon until their bodies wind up failing like Weber's did. The Armia and Hoffman deals look particularly bad given this team's circumstance.
The cup run was fun but the Habs should seriously consider gutting their front office top-to-bottom and purge any non-RFA player with 2 or fewer years left on his deal. Move forward with the Caufield-Primeau-Romanov-Suzuki core and bring in some genuine top young talent over the next two drafts.

Actually, My favorite version was an 6.5M+ offer sheet with NYI in cap hell, but Lou did too god of a job about clearing cap space, probably with the objective of keeping Beauvilier... Soooo not happening, twice.

All jokes aside, I think if he was really done, he wouldn't retire now and put MTL in a position where they have cap hit penalty but rather wait the end of the next season maybe and be on LTIR.</div></div>
MTL would have a recaputure penalty of 500,000 while Nashville's would be 5 million

Danaults out IMO
I agree and think Danault is gone. He is a very good 2/3c but if he asks for 5+ mil they have to let him go. You can't spend that much long term on Weber, Price, Gallagher and him with the young guys about to get paid. If Gallagher didn't have his current contract then you could fit Danault in.
I listned to the Dangle podcast as well, Drouin for Kadri makes a ton of sense!

This is not NHL 20.
Byron is one of the best skater in the league, on a strong year he has proven he can score 20 goals, is a leader for his team, can play every forward position.
If mtl is trading him, it's for salary cap considerations and he's going to cost, not be given.</div></div>
Look at the trades that happen lately good player with contract are being move for next to nothing the teams dont have money a guy like Johnson wasnt pick-up on waiver for nothing so to move cap space you have to pay rigth now
for bergevin its more important to move is contract that another need him we got danault kk tatar to sign and the another teams knows it

I'd say I agree besides Benn. I think he was under appreciated during his peak and now over appreciated in his decline.
