You can keep all the prospects and have him half-retained for a 3rd. He's not a fit with us, and him being moved at the deadline is one of the worst-kept secrets in hockey. We've got so many other mid-tier prospects we'd rather just have slightly better draft capital.

I think the cost for one year of retention at $2M is about a 2nd round pick. Maybe Davidson'd be willing to make that trade for just a 2nd, but I think there'd be an additional 3rd or 4th in '25 or '26 thrown in.
Which seems like a lot for Beauvillier, I know! But it also eats up their second retention slot. If they were to also move someone like Murphy, that would leave no slots to take on a chunk of a big salary as a 3rd-party to a deal.

It is assumed that the insane amount of injuries CHI has endured this year has made the players that would've originally been on the trade block less tradable. They were poised to leverage cap space, retention slots, and picks. But it looks like CHI won't do much, and if they do make any trades they should be pretty minimal.

Im not sure how much longer Beauvilier is supposed to be on IR for, but we picked him up for a 5th rounder so i'd assume if we could pull a 2nd or 3rd back for retaining on him Davidson would be pretty alright with that

honestly, the Hawks would do it for a 3rd alone is my guess

Duclair Read Description
Even though the trade makes sense from an offensive standpoint, Duclair is a one trick pony, if hes not scoring, youre not getting much else out of him. I would rather pay up for Tarasenko, knowing that he has chemistry with 20 and 93.

If Othmann makes it out of camp
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingLundqvist30</b></div><div>Fair. Another option could also be to run 11-7 and have Bonino sit.</div></div>
Very good point
I don't love 11/7 myself....but a few successful teams like TBL have used that...so not much to argue against there, lol.
Just putting Zach Jones in Trouba's spot on PP2 in itself would be a huge improvement!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingLundqvist30</b></div><div>I think the most likely option is he gets traded. Gustafsson has played way too good to not make this team at the 3LD position. As talented as Jones is, we don’t have a place for him.</div></div>
Gustafsson does look like a good fit...but he's a 31 yo, on a 1 year deal. If Jones is traded for good value- I can deal with that. But he hasn't played up at NHL enough to warrant much more of a return than they would probably burn next year at TDL for a depth Dman who'll be UFA next summer.
I'd rather go with a rotation in which Gustafsson, Schneider, and Jones would all get 60ish games. I'd siphon a few games here and there from Miller and Lindy to make this math work.

Minnesota Wild signed Mats Zuccarello (2 Years / $4,125,000 AAV)
I like it.
He was unrestricted.
Minnesota signed him to less an AAV then he is currently making, which was expected.
He can play 1st or 2nd line, and at this # going forward you can slot him on the 3rd line if you need/want to.
He has already shown that he has chemistry with this group.
This essentially ensures he most likely retires with the Wild.

I don't like the timing of this signing at all.
MIN has cap problems and Zucc just turned 36 y.o....
If I'm the GM, I wait until July 1st to be reassured about his decline and see if you can find better/younger on the market.
Zucc wouldn't be in high demand and would probably be interested to stay in Minnesota anyway.

Good on MIN for this extension. Zuc and Kap are an amazing duo. Zuc is deserving of this extension even though he is 35 and this takes him till he's 38 but I still see him making an impact in the NHL at that age. Best Norwegian NHL player born

I like this deal for Minnie. I watch a lot of their games and Zucc really stands out. He's like a lizard, the way a lizard takes his tongue and sticks it as far as it does and retrieves what it was trying to do

I'm guessing Zegras gets a bridge deal like $5.5 x 3 like the OP suggests and Drysdale gets $2.5 or less x 2 like my buddy <a href="/users/GeneralLandro" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GeneralLandro</a> suggests.
