You think so? I know Toews was great this year (honestly one of my favorite players in the league), but Josi almost hit 100 points.

Robertson has proved enough at the AHL level, it’s time to give him a legit shot. Sink or swim. I watch the Marlies a lot, there young kids are ready.</div></div>
Fair point, hope I’m not coming across as looking for an argument. Good talk boys 👍

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MatthewsFan</b></div><div>Over 1/3 of the NHL teams are currently over the cap. This isn’t just a Leafs issue.
You trade Holl and Kerfoot (for pennies in the dollar probably) but there is your space.</div></div>
I understand that, but the question is, who are you replacing them with? Who will replace Kerfoot’s 35-40 point production, and Holl’s ability to play top four minutes? It’s easy to say “just trade them away” but you also have to find replacements. It’s a matter of if Robertson and Liljegren are ready.

Here’s what I see with the Leafs, they’re cap strapped, and have too much money tied in to a set of four guys (over the cap with a roster of 22 guys). I think dropping a contract like Tavares would be the smartest option (not saying that he’s bad, just not worth 11 Mil). If you guys find another Alex Kerfoot or two, you’ll be fine.

Didn’t put it in the description, but I’m a big fan of Sandin in a Ducks jersey. Although they have guys in the pipeline, he would be a solid piece of their top-4.

Boston Bruins signed Jack Studnicka (2 Years / $762,500 AAV)
Good deal. I can see him cracking the bottom-six this year but if not, I would look into sending him somewhere else for a change of scenery. He dominates in the American League, it’s just a matter of putting it all together at the NHL level.

2018 World Junior Nightmare Scenerio
Question, would this be considered a buy out or contract termination? With the Evander Kane situation, that affected the Sharks. With this, I feel like their contracts would be terminated based on the fact that it violates the NHL’s rules and guidelines for players under contract. (Not saying any sens player was).

need a centre blockbuster hail mary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jedihonesy</b></div><div>Is it not? OEL is good but makes way too much for way too long. Poolman is a straight cap dump. Canucks need a RHD which is Carlo, and Grzlek is the replacement for OEL, and Lysell is extra price for Miller. Overall I think the first trade is decent, I mean, a first rounder could be added from Boston, but getting rid of that OEL contract is massive for the canucks, taking on that contract is pretty much first round value. The rest of the trades are just cap clearing for Boston</div></div>
The problem for throwing cap dumps into a trade with guys like Miller is the fact that it lowers the return. When you’re a GM on the market, you want to get the best bang for you buck. If you throw in a cap dump, then you’re not going to get as much for your player.

Imho, I think locking up Bratt for anything less than 8 years would be a major mistake. He reminds me of a younger Kevin Fiala.

But why? For starters, he’s on LTIR so he doesn’t count against your cap, and since he doesn’t count against your cap, he actually allows you to spend over the cap.
