How to properly run an NHL team CBJ take notes you morons
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I have an irrational hatred for CBJ. So, I love seeing them do bad, and I'm sorry that I have found pleasure in your pain, but it's just the way it is. Jarmo Kekalainen knows how to identify talent, but he doesn't know how to build a team, and there is a difference. There are plenty of interesting options for head coach right now, though. Maybe CBJ should consider a coaching change... again. Does Vincent have an interim tag or was he supposed to be the full time head coach?</div></div>
Do you also hate butterflies and kittens and other soft things that can't hurt you? This is literally insane.

Next year with AZ blockbuster and some prospect swaps
I think I would pass if I’m the Hawks, there is no question Reichel has struggled but he showed last year he can play in the NHL. Savoie’s performance at the World Jrs really left me wondering just how effective he will be as he moves up to the professional ranks, he had an opportunity to be a big time contributor and quite frankly he was invisible in most of the games he played.

Next Year with lindholm and tanev extensions
I'd rather keep Bertuzzi and trade Brodie to create the cap, but we'd be completely insane not to do this...
Knies - Matthews - Domi
Jarnkrok - Lindholm - Marner
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Nylander
Gregor - Kampf - McMann
Rielly - Tanev
Seeler - McCabe
Benoit - Timmins
3 of the best defensive centers in hockey in Kampf, Lindholm and Matthews, with Tavares being solid defensively as well. A 2nd line that consists of two selke finalists who've shown they can produce offense at a high level as well. That line can matchup against any in the league, and would free up two elite lines behind them to feast on easier matchups.
Bringing in a defenseman who has long been at the very top amongst defensive D, playing a style that's ideal for playoffs. McCabe gets slotted more appropriately with a player who's been having a ton of success in a similar role.
This team would easily be cup favourites for the forward depth alone.

They don’t have anybody to re-sign in the top 6/4, literally half the teams in the league would be thrilled to give up a 1st and 2nd for Girard. Yeah who knows when he comes back until then he doesn’t count against the cap and at worst the Avs have a $5M 2nd pairing dmen they know. So ridiculous that you think they sell a young top 4 dman who is awesome in transition signed long term for less than FLA paid for a rental in the traffic cone Chiarot. Awful.</div></div>
If Landeskog comes back they litteraly cannot afford Girard and that's with next years expected 87.7mil cap
And Landeskog coming back is the whole point of this post

Interesting....
Couturier is back and skating, team didnt allow him to play the last 10 or so games of 22-23. Hes exactly what MTL needs if hes indeed healthy. Just not sure Anderson is what PHI needs. Sure he has value and so does Harris, but in the lineup above Harris is in lineup but Helge Grans/Attard aren;t and you've moved RD Ristolinen for LD mcDonagh and kept deangelo. And PHI takes the cap dump of Armia.
Just not sure any of those 3 pieces is what PHI wants/needs. Only Harris is probably of interest.
I think PHI would rather have risto than Macdonagh, because risto is a fine 2nd pairing guy, whereas the 1st pair you have above is just plain bad.
And you've kept healthy Atkinson on LTIR and bought out Deslauriers, so really getting another winger, let alone 2 in anderson and armia makes little sense.
Foerster isn;t a 4th line center, hes a top 2 line winger.
Desnoyers or Brink are 2 wingers who are ready-ish
Hayes is definitely gone and probably is deangelo
And I just cant see them taking these cap dumps and then not using some of their remaining space (4+mil)

Shakeup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Every Jets fan is always saying that the rumor of PLD wanting to play in Montreal is just smoke but a new story just came to light proving there is more to this than even PLD has let on and it is yet another reason the Habs are not likely to give many top assets up in a trade. According to the article during the 2020 offseason back before being traded from Columbus, PLD was planning on leaving for Montreal via an OS and that Jarmo Kekalainen made two deals at the 11th hour to clear cap space. The OS never materialized but the fact is Dubois was ready, willing and expecting to be in Montreal during the 2021 NHL season.
https://montrealhockeynow.com/2023/04/24/montreal-canadiens-almost-signed-dubois-to-offer-sheet/</div></div>
Here's the thing from a Jets fans perspective. We don't care that he wants to go to Montreal. We don't care if he ends up there through free agency. The fact is, he holds no leverage on Winnipeg and they can trade him to whoever they want. Chevy will set his return. If Montreal does not want to meet it. You can guarantee other teams will. The amount a contending team will be willing to give up at the deadline for a rental is way more than anything Canadian fans are offering up. These rental teams know full well that they will likely lose the player after the playoffs and are quite content with still paying a hefty price for that short period of time. Montreal and Dubois do not dictate the return here. This is not a Kane situation to New York. They let him go for nothing because they wanted to do the right thing for him and his family. Honestly I don't know why Montreal fans even want this guy. He is 23 and is a spoiled brat. He quit on his teammates in Columbus, and has shown to be selfish in Winnipeg. You think him going home is going to change him as a person?

Reilly's buyout is only $333,333 the first year and another million on top of that figure the second, so it makes sense to just buy him out. Anaheim might give you the seventh for him on Draft Day anyway.

The Sabres shouldn't be at the cap with bonuses to pay. Dahlin and Power and other should be expecting increases the following season.
Sabres could go with a cheaper veteran goalie, and see how Levi and Luukkonen before committing 5 years to Korpisalo.
But the signings you proposed would certainly signal "go for it" by the Sabres.

No reason for TOR do this anyway. He's had some issues with injuries which have kept him out of the line up. He's making barely above minimum wage and is still only 21. Worth keeping him around for next year to see if he can stay healthy.

Revised ACGM for next year
Flyers fan but want to offer some neutral feedback, I find team building so interesting.
Garland as a fit is good, but I don't know why the Canucks would do that to be honest. Yes its less years, but Garland is better and not super old. Nylander and a 2nd isn't enough to take Granlund. Foegle for O'Connor seems lateral to me. Edmundson is an ok pick up but think they should keep Poulin, and I like the Compher 3C. Gurianov idk. Feels similar to when they got Galchenyuk...if it works you look genius, if it doesn't? Not a fan of Parise deal, the Penguins are already so old and I know he's had a good year but the way the Penguins try to play vs NYI fits what Parise is better. He will have the Carter effect, I can guarantee it. Erne is ok as depth.
Think some other FA targets they could explore instead of Gurianov and Parise could be like Kerfoot, Pius Suter, Sundqvist, maybe a Miles Wood reclamation project?

deck chairs shuffled
-I'd pass on this. I could see swapping LHD Salo for a similar post-prospect RHD, but Rathbone can't get minutes on a lottery team and has looked worse than Salo in his limited NHL time. This one is a trade for the sake of making a trade.
-Kyle Palmieri's scoring at a 25 goal/50 point pace this year, and only has 2x$5M left on his deal. At this point, I'd rather ride out his deal than give a 5x$5.5M contract to Bertuzzi, a guy who's seemingly forgotten how to score and has had a ton of trouble staying on the ice. Moot point because Palmieri's from the Island and isn't waiving to go play out his deal in the desert.
-Fair price for Lyubushkin but I don't think it's a great trade for Buffalo. They don't need to clear cap and he's a perfectly cromulent player with one year left - just flip him at the deadline if he doesn't fit in your lineup.
-Agree on Bailey - I'd shop him at full retention for whatever you can get; if not, buy him out. Feels like his time on the Island is done, though.

Shoring up the middle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LVNYR_FAN</b></div><div>Think there is the basis of something here, despite protests on both sides. Chytil's likely to get 4M+. Think the Rangers will have to give up one of Chytil, Laf, Kakko, or Miller and Goodrow to fit contracts next year.
Rasmussen as big, defensive 3C, and Veleno as 4th line center is not awful at all. Could also see value from Red Wings end, looking at Chytil to try to unlock Zadina and team with Kubalik. He's stepped up his game this year.</div></div>
Thank you for being reasonable. I still don't like the trade from either team's perspective. Rasmussen is a proven top 9 plug good for 40ish points a season (possibly more), while Chytil is a little better offensively but is sheltered on tbe 3rd line and the hope is he can be a 2C. Rasmussen is a safe bet, Chytil is a higher ceiling offensively; I really don't know who wins this trade, and the only reason I see this happening is the Rangers needing cap and the Wings betting on potential. It really could be a lose-lose trade honestly.
