You trade for need and FLA needs a 1D; Girard is a good piece but isn't a 1D. A 1D for a 2C is pretty fair value, the age and cost discrepancy notwithstanding. That being said, I totally understand why you wouldn't want to trade Lundell for Toews but, IMO, the value is pretty much there.</div></div>
It’s not there though. Lundell has so much more upside where towes as great as he is, is exactly what he’s gonna stay. And what if he isn’t great with ekblad and regresses some where ones he’s playing more like a second pair d man. Doubtful I agree but possible. Where lundell is 20 already great defensively and helps carry a line abs can only grow. Where bennett is at his top. He’s Not getting better with the panthers. He’ll always be a 2c where lundell is a 2c already which is why he can be expendable. So a bennett for girard makes more sense

Severson for Knight
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kosterjr</b></div><div>If Zito had to take one of the first two it would be Severson but no extension. Hughes is the D they would probably want. 2023 is unprotected and a 2024 second. If Severson isn’t included then add the 2024 first. Again Devils shouldn’t even think about this, this is probably the minimum to get Zito interested in my opinion.</div></div>
It’s hard to understate how bad our goaltending was last year. Even with average goaltending, we probably would have been on playoff bubble.
I would do Severson and a 1st (not either Hughes).

We have plenty of prospects and draft picks.
How about something like:
One of - Severson, Graves (extension is up to you)
One of - Foote, Zetterlund, Bahl, Walsh, Thompson (or similar)
One of - Blackwood, Daws, Vanecek, Schmid, Brennan (goalies)
One of - 2023 protected 1st, 2024 unprotected 1st
One of - 2023 2nd, 2024 2nd (whichever year you don't take the 1st)

Weegar is not good so severson is much better but knight is not being traded for a 28 year old ufa. Knight isn’t going to jersey unless it’s a severe overpay

Lateral move? Duclair has 26 goals and 49 points while Dadonov only has 17 goals and 32 points, and makes more money... And Hornqvist, who is a great net front and leadership guy, albeit overpaid, and a great prospect in Sourdif
Steel is a nobody, struggling to make an impact for multiple years at age 24. If we need to clear cap, we will just move Hornqvist to another team with a pick and cut all of this crap out.

What about Bob
I don't believe a trade involving Bob would happen this offseason. The Panthers don't really need to get rid of him while Huby is on his bargain contract, so the trade would more likely happen for the 23-24 season.
At that point Bob will have 3x10M left on his deal. I don't know how much dumping that would cost. His buyout penalty would be 6,66M.

Bruins fans wont like it but I think the only way they could compete with other teams (Leafs, Panthers, Hurricanes) it would need to be Lysell and a 1st, Boston just doesnt have any other impactful prospect in an area of need for the Ducks
Not saying the Bruins should offer Lysell and a 1 for a rental to be clear

Kidding. Similar package to the Florida deal, but y'all don't want to move Lysell, so I don't know that it can be a thing.

It’s all good, thanks for input again. And I expect some FLA talk in here also, I’ll have to find the article I read (maybe it was a video IDK) about FLA possibly being willing to move Lundell as it was awhile ago and I can’t remember but yes I’m sure it was for a top LHD, guessing the Chychrun to FLA trade rumor,

If Florida was to move Lundell, and they are not going to, it would be for an immediate upgrade at another position as they are in win now mode.
They would not include him for Chychrun, you think Boston has anything of interest to them? Pasta, Mac, Marchy would have to be on the table for them to consider moving him. Maybe Bergy.
In other words. Never going to happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tank4McEichel</b></div><div>How are they keeping Huberdeau?</div></div>
Great question… let me explain. So Huberdeau has a contract for 1 more season, so 1.5 in total including this year. With Barkovs 10M extension, that’s probably what Huberdeau is going to get. So… if you look at cap friendlys cap hit statistics, they will have 26.7M in cap space. Let’s say Huberdeau gets 10M like Barkov, that would leave them with 16.7M left over. Guys like Nutivaara, Gudas, Hornqvist, and unfortunately Weegers contracts will be up. Out of those 4 I only see them resigning Weeger, so let’s say he gets 5M. That would leave them with 11.7M after those two signings. Of course a few prospects would be up to fill in those missing spots for the guys that got let go. Hornqvist I believe will get traded before then, so they can afford Barkovs contract. With Bobrovsky only having 3 years left by then making 10M, some team may want him if he is still good. If not, they can definitely make it work. If my math is correct, they will have 11.7M in extra cap to sign UFAs, or resign their RFAs, if they want more money. They are NOT cap strapped, and can make it work if they let it play out, and run it the way they have been.

Chiarot is also nowhere near as good as Giordano is.
Besides, the Panthers have 3,85M in deadline cap space. Giordano with 50% retention is 3,38M. Plus, they'd move a guy like Juolevi out of the roster, so that's an extra 750k. They can afford him handsomely.
Edit: they'd only need about 32% of retention to fit under the cap. Preferably more if they want to add another player, but that's just hypothetical.
