For Toronto. Seattle declines because Daccord is worth more.

Daccord isn't getting moved for two mid-card RFA's. Send your jabroni's to Utah.

I can't see Seattle moving out of the 1st round for that. I'd like Laine but I think Seattle values the first more than the player.

I think if Seattle had 14 and SJ had 8, the trade holds up.

Seattle declines. They're not trading Borgen for an arbitration eligible RFA. Gourde may be available.

Travis Green is Bad
I think there is a better chance of B.Tanev being moved before Gourde. Even with Wright joining the team next year they are lacking a 4th line center.

Trading up
Kraken pass. Bigger hole in top prospects on the blue line. They'll go with Firkus and Nyman being their top prospects on the RW.

Fire Keefe and rebuild the team in Brads vision
I can't see Seattle moving Wright in this deal as it leaves them cash strapped to find another. McCann could move there but his production is way better at wing compared to center.

Big off season
Seattle's not moving one, let alone two, of their top RHD's on the roster. Easy decline and it doesn't matter if Marner is a star player - his contract blocks Seattle being able to replace that.

Interesting Idea I Saw
I hate the idea of trading Larsson but the more I think about if it were to be done then it's probably a straight 1 for 1 trade of Larsson for Marner.
It's a terrible trade for both teams, but Marner's going to suck in Seattle without at least one more star player on the roster which they don't have.

Realistic Rebuild 5
Seattle isn't trading Dunn or a first in that scenario. You have one of the most conservative GM's in the league and you expect them to give up one of their top players and a first for one year? No way.
And no way can you say Marner waives or signs in that scenario. <-- this is the exact reason why Marner gets less of a return to TML than the fans think he is worth.

If Marner was traded for prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wz92</b></div><div>That's fair. Id think Marner extends though otherwise I'd totally agree. Toronto would sign then trade. I should have made that clear.
Maybe add some of what was traded to Pittsburgh, or Steeves. You still have sale, you still have Wright. Your upper echelon young talent is still there. To be fair you guys just have so much young talent I think you can afford to make this move without feeling the I'll effects as much as others.
If Marner extends what would be your thoughts then?
I think the problem is much more than just one of them. Nylander is the only one that constantly shows in pressure situations</div></div>
Even if it's a sign and trade I don't think Seattle is the dance partner for Marner. Every trade I have seen on ACGM just creates another roster problem for Seattle. The two main things they need right now are a 4th center (Beniers, Wright, Gourde, mystery skater), and scoring. A trade for Marner would probably mean at least a $5M contract going to Toronto and while I know Larsson and Oleksiak get floated I don't think it's either of them. That would leave Burakovsky (Been great when healthy, just hasn't been healthy in Seattle), Tanev, and Bjorkstrand. Ideally it would be Burakovsky but there are so many red flags there. The Kraken are closer to finally having a deep prospect pool but I think there is still a reluctance to trade much of that in a deal.
That would put the deal at something like:
Marner (sign and trade)
Timmins
Burakovsky
Borgen
Firkus
Morrison
2024 3rd Round pick (TML)
Even that doesn't seem balanced. Between Rehkopf, Firkus, Goyette, and Morrison you have 4 of the teams top 10 prospects. Draft wise that was 3 2nd's and a undrafted 20yo.
But I also am not sure that RF makes any moves until he has a new coach in place. Doesn't make sense to trade for something that doesn't fit in the new coaches schemes.

If Marner was traded for prospects
Seattle passes. Depletes their farm system. Firkus and Rehkopf were specifically drafted for their scoring prowess after the Kraken's year 1 and lack of scoring. Also way to much to give up for 1 year of Marner.
Obviously the problem for the Leafs in the playoffs has been Mathews, not Marner, as the team seems to be playing lights out without him
