Realistic 2018-19 Wings
DET could have such a quick rebuild if they didn't have so many 3 and 4 year terrible contracts. Larkin and Mantha are dynamite. At some point may have to consider selling BIG on Larkin

Nylander+++ to STL for 1RD?
May be close to equal in terms of value, but STL cannot give up Pietrangelo. He is the heart and soul of this team's defense. Parayko for Nylander + could be a deal to look at, but Pietrangelo isn't going anywhere

If ANA decides to make a change
Kesler is the better player when healthy, but it could be a good change for both players. I agree that I'd rather have Kesler at center. But it was Thomas, Kyrou or Blais for the last top 9 spot and I chose to keep Thomas at his natural position

If these trades were to happen, keep Gallagher and Patches on Tavares line and keep Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko together</div></div>
Was not totally sure on Muzzin's trade value. Maybe we could get OEL for that package. But I have read that Schenn thought Tarasenko wandered from the system too much, so maybe letting Gallagher play with them allows us to have 3 great two way players and also have a great #1 scoring line

Helping fix Toronto's playoff woes
I debated on that. I just felt that since Marner has one more year left on his ELC, it would make it fair to give a prospect. If the trade were for Nylander, TOR would add a pick or prospect for sure

Offseason Goals
Looks like Armstrong has his work cut out for him this offseason. We need AT LEAST a top 6 center, top 6 winger, LHD (to replace Bouw/Gunnarson). Also an upgrade in goal would not hurt us. While he needs to move one or two of Berglund, Sobotka, Steen, Gunnarson, Bouw (unlikely due to injury).
Who would your ideal trade targets or UFAs be? Let's assume Tavares picks another team that is closer to cup ready.

Massive trade with BUF
Maybe it’s time we switch from a defense first system then. Yeo needs to adapt to the players we have. It’s ridiculous that we have Tarasenko, Schwartz, Schenn and no one puts up a 70 point season. I know Schwartz was injured but still.

Massive trade with BUF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chopper02</b></div><div>Wish there was a 2.5 star option. I don't like the O'Reilly/Risto/Parayko trade. Blues are giving up lots of youth and a first rounder. It breaks down to
Allen+Gunnar for Lehner
Parayko for Ristolainen
Kostin, Thompson, and 1st for O'Reilly in my eyes.
Like I said previously, O'Reilly is a younger version of Stastny and more expensive. Why not just resign Stastny and save a few million bucks in cap space if JT doesn't work out(which it won't work out for the Blues)?</div></div>
I believe I saw Stastny does not really want to resign here. And I also believe that ROR is a better version of Stastny. Averages around 60% of faceoffs while putting up more point totals. Preference is Tavares but it is hard to see him coming here when we only have 3 top 6 players. Not sure of Ristolainen would fit better than Parayko but I am willing to try it. Allen's streakiness kills the blues for weeks at a time and we cannot waste weeks of a season

Ovechkin, Tavares, Gallagher
Very interesting trade. While WSH would never do this (even though they probably should), the team looks unbeatable. I would not sign Oduya, Reaves, Wideman and Hutton. Hutton will likely pull a Darling and want to start and get paid close to 4 million. Ride with Husso as backup and maybe sign a DeHaan or similar LHD if they are available for 3-4 million.

Kostin was a late 1st round pick last year. Performed well for Russia this year, but due to STL's complicated AHL situation he did not get much time.

I agree. STL may not be the best fit for Karlsson, but I was just looking to change up the core as obviously this team needs some sort of change with all the ups and downs

That would have to make it a no deal from me then. Parayko has 4 more years at a very reasonable salary. EK is great, but only for one year before he gets paid 9-11 million.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigBeardBurns</b></div><div>So to improve the team, u take a bunch of older players and trade ur young powerhouses? No thank u</div></div>
OEL is like 27/28. Gallagher is 25. Rask is 25. Holtby is 28. I would not consider that older. And I also would not consider Parayko, Thompson, Berglund, Allen to be young powerhouses. I LOVE Parayko (have his jersey in my closet), but I believe we need a change and maybe need more of a high compete level. Parayko is always calm and relaxed, but maybe we need players that will spark us

I would agree. Barbashev is useless on the 4th line. So either play him on the 3rd or don't play him. I agree, but I am not sure if playing Stevens burns a year off his ELC.

Kostin and Thompson are pretty equally valued. Schmaltz/Walman are both defenseman. Either one or both should become a top 4 defenseman (at minimum both would be offensive bottom pairing D)

As a blues fan, hard to give that up. Maybe would do it for Kuznetsov. Just difficult to give up 2 top prospects, a young 45-50 point player (pending injuries!) and a first.

Interesting trade with Isl for Lee... Last time played at C was 2-3 y ago... would keep him LW and put Fabbri 2C.
Interesting Roster for sure...No room for Thomas?</div></div>
I was looking for a shorter term RW as I hope that Kyrou or Thompson will be ready for top 6 minutes within a year, so basically I'd let Zucc walk. Thomas could make the team if he has a great camp and push berglund to wing on either 3rd or 4th line (or wishful thinking off the roster to another team). Lastly, I figured Lee and Fabbri could kind of share center duties as both have experience there.
