Yeah foligno is definitely not getting traded. You might get Talbot straight up. Oilers the one in need of a goalie. But truthfully I could see guerin saying he wants picks if he indeed did trade Talbot. But definitely a NO here!

Honestly the Wild just really would never make that kind of trade. That move would be if they were still making a run and needed depth guys. If Dumba goes it’s gonna be for a pick or prospect. Not a guy entering contract year

That's what would of been offered.
Boldy, Rossi, and Wallstedt are all off limits given the fact that there is no one in the top ten in this years draft who is worth moving them for this year.
Not one.
Logan Cooley is the only one with the potential upside to be a franchise center out of this draft and that is a very risky assumption to bet on. Moving any of those three to do it and take that gamble is moronic and would only hurt the team in the long run.</div></div>

I disagree. He’s definitely got prime a few more years. Some guys don’t even reach the league until 23-24. So you’re saying they have a couple years of prime. Prime lasts until 28 and maybe even 30.

Holtz would most likely be straight up. But I doubt the devils will do that. Mercer most definitely would require another piece. Yes he’s promising but Fiala is a proven guy coming off of 85 points and he’s entering his prime! Sky is the limit and you don’t get a piece like that for free or the trash that most devil fans have been projecting. Time will tell what actually happens. But I will say this is an important step for the devils where they could jump into playoffs next year and even contention but if they screw up a step and grab a guy that keeps them from that then that GM could be out the door. They’ve got a good potential team that could go a number of routes. Whether it’s a trade for Fiala, debrincat, Miller, Pasternak or signing forsberg or Johnny hockey! Gonna be exciting leading up to the draft

We aren't going to get either of those two and what would be akin to a second 1st rounder. Then it's an overpay on New Jerseys end. The best we'd get in addition to either of those two is probably a 2nd round pick. But definitely not another 1st.</div></div>
I think had there not been a surplus of forward that could be available we could’ve gotten that type of deal but I think you’re right. Now if we want Mercer it’d maybe be 2nd round or lower but if it was Holtz it might be straight up. But truthfully I don’t think they’ll give up Holtz. I saw a different trade with a 2nd and 3rd rounders as well as 2 guys that won’t amount to anything more than depth players.

I agree! Don’t understand that to get something you have to give something. The way I feel… if you’re not gonna offer the 2OA or the 2023 1st without protection then you better pony up some good prospects. I keep coming back to if it’s not Holtz then give us Mercer and a top 10 protected next year 1st. Think that’s fair value

I would say the picks plus Mercer would be a good trade. Also add in a top 5 protected to the pick. I think with Fiala they will compete for a playoff spot. Devils fans would be getting a guy with still more untapped potential. Look what he did with boldy. What would he do with Nico or Hughes….

This trade doesn’t do much for the Wild but I do believe you’re on the right track with including Dumba. I think with how many forwards are available the wild need to spice up the trade to get max value. I could be wrong I’m not a GM but having a surplus of forwards available does not help getting max value for Fiala despite him putting up the numbers he did. I think whoever gets him is getting a lot of untapped potential yet. What he did in the limited games with Boldy tell what you can get if you give the guy good linemates not 3rd and 4th liners. Darkhorse trade partner would be Buffalo. Trade Fiala and Dumba to them for mittelstad, a 1st this year and another piece. They have 3 1st rounders this year. They’ve got the ammo

Ideal Offseason - SABRES
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>Staal for Marjo. Kunin trade. Suter buyout then have to sign Goli and trade for Middleton (cost Kahk) to make up for that hole he created. He has literally signed nobody of importance that wasn't already in the system 6/7 d-men and 12/13 FDs. Spurgeon's awful contract. Now he's going to lose one of the top-3 most skilled wings the team has ever had. Rossi over Lundell, LD over Raty, trading up to get Marat K. Not getting McBain or Lindberg to sign. Not addressing the biggest hole on the team with a top-6, heck even a third line center.
The only good moves GMBG made the Zucker trade and the Walstedt trade/draft. Cole/Pateryn was a good trade, but he loses some points for not getting him to re-sign.
Fletcher and Fenton made this team, GMBG is just living off of that.</div></div>
First off the buyouts had to happen. Suter and parise were awful locker room players. Complaining about playing time or complaining about who their dman partner was. There is evidence that Suter was a problem not just in MN but also in Nashville. The Kunin trade he picked up a vet in bonino who was a good bottom 6 player and a good penalty killer and if you dig into the trade he eventually received 2 prospects in Marat Khusnutdinov and Daemon Hunt which were drafted in 2020 in the 2nd and 3rd round. Middleton is a good defenseman and he brought some grit. Kahkonnen was worth trading. I look at him as yes he has good games but ultimately he’ll end up as a decent goalie who could maybe grow as a solid starter but more so a backup. Is losing Fiala is not on Guerin. That’s on Fletcher by handing out those contracts to parise and suter. And yes I like Fiala and really wanna keep him but watch him flip him for some value before the draft. The spurgeon contract was necessary. He is a really good defenseman. Idk about captain material but he has been one of the most dependable defenseman we have. Yes you bring up good points but seriously dude I’d rather trust a guy that actually knows the game and knows what it takes to build a winning team. I’m pretty sure he’s a much better GM then you give him credit for. Plus comparing rossi and lundell is not right. Way too early and rossi had health problems that delayed his career. He’s healthy now and I bet he’ll be on the club next year either centering kaprizov and Zuccs or boldy and personally I want Jost on the wing. Good young fast line right there! Plus whoever we get back from a Fiala trade. What guerin does next will be what defines him when you’re in a cap crunch.

Hahaha! How about you walk away from being a Wild fan. GMBG is the first actually good GM we’ve had in the MN sports era. I trust everything he does. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but name a bad move he’s done for me. He went out last year and grabbed guys to make a run but didn’t give up the future either. Agreed! I like Smith in the trade but add in a guy like Mercer and the 2023 first top 5 protected. I think that’s fair. We get a good young Dman and Mercer can start either with the kaprizov line or the boldy line. That’ll be between rossi and Mercer though.

The thing is MN really can’t take contracts back other than NHL ready prospects on an ELC or high end picks. Which you sent to Chicago so the chance of getting Fiala are basically zero. You could send bellows but it’s gonna take more than him. The prospects you sent aren’t bad by any means but they’re so far away from being ready. You could add raty bellows and the 2nd. I don’t know if that’s too much. Time will tell but teams definitely won’t get Fiala for pennies. Guerin will land great value for him.

Absolutely! Trade deadline last year with everyone he picked up we still have our future picks. Yes we all have thrown out very high priced trades to get Fiala but the reason the price may be lower is due to the fact there are some really good players available. But Guerin will get us fair value.

Now if it’s a pick is a 2nd rounder gonna do it. I think it’s leaning towards a 1st but I don’t know if guerin wants a 2023 1st. I think he’s looking at this year. So if you throw in next years first you might even have to sweeten the offer. But hey I give this the first proposal where someone legitimately wrote what it actually will cost to sign Fiala.
