Avs cap dump and a goalie

I hear you. My bad not being clear enough. I don’t know much about Ryjo but he genuinely seems like a great teammate. The combination of veteran prensence and being a likeable guy is reason to take him for FC/a late round pick in my book. I could see him having value at the following TDL as a rental aswell.

Agree with xqb here. Stromes footspeed is to concerning for me. That in combination with the acquisition cost feels risky.

Avs cap dump and a goalie
LOC is killing it this year. Him at 1M next year is sooo valuable to Colorado. He’s is one of those guys who hold to much value to the current team that they are not worth trading.
Manson is fit this year and doing fine. The Avs doesn’t see him as a cap dump. Sure he can be traded this off-season for cap reasons. But not as a negative asset.
Sure, agree with you. We want rid of Ryjo’s contract and worst case scenario is that he costs a pick. Best case scenario is that someone takes him as FC to reach the floor.
This trade is a big nono.

Yes, that would be ideal.

Trade idea by a Habs fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Because Monahan is playing the best out of all the other options to trade for. Lindholm, Henrique, Wennberg and just about anything other center that's trade bait right now are more expensive while also not playing as well as him.
I get it's not a stylistic fit, but it's also probably the best out of any other options on the board</div></div>
Fair points and i agree with you, those options aren’t great. And it would be stupid to use assets (COL almost doesn’t have any) for a bad fit, rental middle six C. My wish would be that Avs try to go after a younger 2/3C with upside. Either this season (Frost e.g.). Or maybe put Byram on the table in the offseason and go for someone like Mercer.

Trade idea by a Habs fan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Apparently Avs fans would rather have Henrique or Lindholm and no cap space</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBA</b></div><div>RyJo isn’t good lmao stop with the points comparisons, they aren’t playing with the same guys.
RyJo is a cap dump (negative value) while Monahan is worth close to a 1st round pick</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>Wait................... Monahan = Johansen ??? Just look the stats.............
Monahan : 34 pts in 48 games
Johansen : 18 pts in 48 games
And don't forget that Monahan playing in a less stacked team, and he playing the same range in the line-up.
Monahan = 1st round pick + half of Johansen
Evans = 3rd round pick + half of Johansen</div></div>
Why does this keep going on? The reason many Avs fans dont like the idea of Monahan is that he is likely not a very good stylistic fit,. The experiment with Ryjo has proven that without any uncertainty. I don’t disklike Monahan as a player, just as a fit in Avs system. Why is that so controversial?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Yep I agree. Which is why the likes of Monahan should be considered worst than last resort lol. Imho, the Avs should be looking for the signed long term younger 2C first (or at least cost controlled), whoever that may be, then probably Henrique is my first choice out of the vet rentals, then Lindholm (purely on likely cost), then the likes of Monahan IF the Avs can send RyJo back the other way.</div></div>
I really like your analysis, and agree to 100% with the preferred order. What do you think about Henrique and Lundestrom in the same deal?

Agree. Would probably be okay with the 2024 first and OO or Behrens for Lindholm at 50%. But that’s is my limit for a pure rental.Should be said that im not the biggest advocate for Lindholm in general tho. Feels like a last resort - kinda move.

Since the 4th is for 2024 and the 3rd is 2026 this is basically Lindholm at 50% for a late first. Seems a bit light imo. But sure, wouldn’t say no ofc!

I really like the idea of Frost. Sure there is some risk to it obviously. But i think it’s manageable given the potential upside. I think you’ve made a solid offer here if Philly were to sell.

Thanks for the offer. It’s a no today, same as yesterday however. And the day before that, and the week before that, the month before that and actually the year before that. Nothing against Monahan (and the value here). He’s simply just not a fit at 2C for Colorado.

Hi there!
I agree, nice looking roster! However, i must agree with <a href="/users/MeetYourMakar" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MeetYourMakar</a> take above. Jensen is to expensive. The additional cap doesn’t make sense for next year. I must admit that i like Novak. Not so sure on paying a first without any plan to extend him tho. What could he ask for? 4-5M AAV?

The problem is not that it’s an overpay (even tho i think it’s). The problem is that Lehkonen is a perfect fit in Avs top 6. Monahan isn’t. So, i’m not arguing the value or Monahan as a player. Monahan isn’t what the Avs needs, plain and simple.
