Yeah, Treliving gave me a heart attack on day 1... then reeled me back in yesterday... Classic Leafs
On a side note, I really do like the Rangers team (Chytil being one of my favourite non-Leafs player) and hope they do well, especially if the Leafs don't

"A contract is designated a 35+ contract if the players age on the first year of the contract is 35 or older (as of June 30 prior to the year of the effective contract)."
So he would have needed to turn 35 yesterday to be eligible

Who’s sending an OS… the UFA market is flooded, no contender teams have the cap to really pursue him and be contenders. and I’m sure there’s a number of other RFAs out there that look better on paper. Every market outside of NYR think he’s a bust and are vocal about it. Rangers fans shouldn’t be worried in the slightest. Hence why we aren’t…

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LafreNYR</b></div><div>I feel like all 3 of them defer once they get put up with the vets, but the real difference for the kids is gonna be whether they get meaningful PP time or not. I’d keep the kids together and would like to see Kreider and Trocheck put together to form somewhat of a shutdown line that can also chip in offensively. I’ll admit Craig Smith isn’t exciting but he has history with Lavy, has been a decent scorer at 5v5 in his career and hopefully we’d be able to upgrade RW1 at the deadline.</div></div>
Panarin definitely needs someone to do the dirty work on his line, not a flashy name. Like Fast or vesey wasn’t bad with him or Copp

I like the kid line, but it doesn’t feel like they score that much. All 3 seems to pass the puck instead of pulling the trigger

I like those signings, would love to see Motte signed instead of Rooney. I think we could pay Blais less and use that to potential sign Motte. I like Laf on the first PP instead of Copp.

Othman and Schneider bring that to 7.8 for 6 spots, right?
So that's already getting tight. And then you have to pay Miller and Lafreniere the next year, no? So I'm not sure this is an easy match on your side. Maybe I'm wrong.</div></div>
At the very worst it would be matched and then he gets traded elsewhere with the new contract

I think so, they have the cap space, both of those players should be affordable through that time period, and they fit Seattles timeline.

To be honest I think Seattle takes the trade without the first. I almost think Lundkvist and Chytil alone get it done, or Lundkvist, the 2023 first, and Kravtsov.

I dont think you can call Kravtsov a stud forward prospect any more. The other two have done well though.

You're not wrong, and I think it would take that kind of deal to get Gorde 50% retained, I just can't see the Rangers being willing to give up that much, unless they think Chytil's playoff run is a fluke and they are trying to sell high.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LafreNYR</b></div><div>That’s all dependent on Kravtsov and the Rangers making amends tho. Obviously if Krav is back then there’s no need for Vatrano to be back. Also will be interesting to see how Cuylle and Othmann factor into this and if the team feels like one of them can make the jump to the NHL at some point next year. Center is still the issue with this team tho, even if you get rid of the Vatrano and Rooney signings that would leave us with $5,871,031 in cap. Is Copp worth committing 5-5.5 aav to for the next 5-6 years? And if we do again that leaves us with no room to maneuver at the deadline</div></div>
Yeah that's my concern with Copp. Even if he is worth the money, we're still screwed if we can't offload Trouba the following season (which we probably can't) when Laf/Miller need extensions. Zibanejad/Chytil/Goodrow/Rooney isn't great but Chicago won three cups with little center depth after Toews (trying to convince myself it'll be okay here lol).
I had in mind that Othmann and Cullye basically owned the OHL this year but obviously have to operate as if they will both start the season elsewhere because there are no guarantees either will be ready for NHL action come October. I agree that Cullye will likely be called up at some point during the season though. I believe Othmann isn't AHL eligible next season but we will probably see him either be called up from junior halfway through the season if they think he can be committed to NHL play for half a season or he will be called up for playoffs.

Personally I think Vatrano should not be a priority for the Rangers. He's good but not a difference maker. I'm not sure about the center position (Strome has got to go for sure but I'm also mixed on whether to re-sign Copp) but I think the wings shake out like this:
1st line wings: Lafreniere and Kreider - Kreider is a deflection machine and scores goals closer to the net, I don't think he needs to be on the left side to succeed and a lot of his goals come on the powerplay. Lafreniere on the other hand is stronger on the left side and given that he had like 20 goals or whatever at even strength, he should be on the left.
2nd line wings: Panarin and Kakko - Panarin will drive the offense of this line no matter who the center is. Kakko played well opposite Panarin earlier this year before the kid line took off. Maybe Chytil is here if they don't re-sign Copp?
3rd line wings: Blais and Kravtsov - but of a hot take, I know, but I do think Krav and the Rangers make amends (a la Puljujarvi and the Oilers a couple years back). Blais mostly plays the right side but given Krav's skill and need to develop in the NHL, I think the priority is for Krav to be on the right. Blais is a mix of skill and grit, so I think having him with an offensively skilled guy like Krav would be smart.
4th line wings: Motte and Reaves - centered likely by Goodrow, this line is one of the best fourth lines in the league imo. Defensively savvy, hard to play against. Kind of a dream fourth line if you ask me. And Hunt can sub in for Reaves if they need an offensive spark.
Really no need for Vatrano imo.

Fending off an Offer Sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LafreNYR</b></div><div>C is gonna be the big question all offseason. Can Nils play the left side? If so I’d probably rather him than Jones(who I also like) because like you said the ceiling is higher. Where does Matt Robertson factor into all of this? Who knows maybe Gallant prefers a bigger body defenseman on that 3rd pair to match with Schneider for the time being. Agreed on Trouba he kinda has to be traded in 2 years when he loses the NMC in order to pay all the kids.</div></div>
haven't heard much about Nils on the left. "Experts" have said that ALL Dmen can play both sides...just a matter of how well on off side (thanks for that word of wisdom, lol). Given that the word on Nils is that he is a silky smooth skater and real smart- I'm of the opinion he could make the adjustment. In any case, taking Trouba's spot on PP2 in itself would be a big improvement. As far as Robertson- I think he's coming along, but he doesn't seem to have grabbed the same attention that Schneider grabbed- and he's further into his development than Schneider. So my guess is NYR still have plans for him- but more marinating is required,

fair enough, i was kinda iffy about adding it because NYR in that weird spot where they are very competitive but also have a long of young players so i was unsure if they would want to loose out on youth in hope that these acquistions would give them high odds for the next few years to win the cup
