I didn’t even think about sending Kane to a 3rd team to retain another 50%. Wonder if Montreal could be the 3rd team to retain on Kane? Overall I like the idea

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>I maintain that a best case scenario deal for both teams would be Othmann Lundkvist and this years 1st for Kane retained. Hawks get multiple good pieces but NYR avoid giving up Laf Kakko and Schneider, plus the 1st is already late this year. Cant give up too much because realistically it will be hard to keep him without blowing up the roster, but with Kane and Panarin playing on the same line with Zib, theyre gonna be racing each other for the Hart</div></div>
Rangers are probably higher on Othmann than Kakko

Rangers would match that and either trade him for more than a 2nd or just let him play another year and try to move him at the deadline

The issue is the salary retention. Is Seattle willing to eat 2.5 million aav for the next 3 years for Fil and Nils. If so sign me up

Fixing center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kap97</b></div><div>It's enticing, but not when you're giving up Chytil (who won't be making much more than that any time soon despite his recent uptick in production), Lundkvist (stud D prospect), Krav (stud forward prospect) and a 1st round pick. IMO it's way too much to give up for a 3C, no matter how cost controlled he is.</div></div>
I love Filda, but let’s be honest here the guy was getting healthy scratched a few months ago and has never scored more than 23 points in a season. Gourde is a massive improvement over him. Kravtsov is a depreciated asset at this point. Nils hurts to give up but has no clear spot on this roster.

Win win, Seattle gets 4 young 1st round caliber talents and Rangers get a versatile middle 6 player on a super affordable contract for 3 years. Nils has no clear spot on NYR in next 2 years, Gourde is an improvement over Chytil, Kravtsov has had his well documented issues in NY, and the 2023 1st will probably be a late 1st

A 3C that’s making 2.6 million for 3 years

It’s tough whenever you’re talking about salary retention on multi year contracts so maybe overpay a little but I’d be so happy if the Rangers found a way to snag Gourde away from Seattle

Like I said if Kakko got a 4.2 mill offer Copp would have to walk and Chytil would have to be 2C

2 Rangers would have a hard time matching without moving out a few bodies.
3 Pittsburgh probably just takes the 2nd round pick.
4 Vegas takes the 2nd round pick and moves on.
5 NJ wont qualify or they give him a cheap one year deal.
Can't see Columbus not matching on Boqvist.</div></div>
Rangers could, and most likely would easily match that. Would just mean Chytil has to be the 2C next year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kap97</b></div><div>I agree with Ragsandbluesfan, the two 4th lines really did us no favors earlier this season. Wasn't until we got some depth (Vatrano, Copp) that we started to look really legit.
I just made an ACGM with a Larkin trade at the deadline, while starting the season with the lineup I described here. Laf, Kreider, Panarin, Kakko, Blais, Krav, Hunt, Motte on the wings to start the year, then after trading for Larkin and calling up Othmann, Hunt goes down to the AHL until playoffs just for the sake of cap space.
It can be done as long as we don't re-sign Copp or Strome and wait until the deadline to get a legit 2C.</div></div>
Who’d you trade for Larkin and what’s our C situation to start the year?

They could always run Panarin Zibanejad Kreider/Kid line/Motte Goody Blais/Hunt Rooney Reaves to start the year and then have about 5-6 million to spend at the deadline on either a 2C or fixing the bottom 6

Whats next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kap97</b></div><div>Personally I think Vatrano should not be a priority for the Rangers. He's good but not a difference maker. I'm not sure about the center position (Strome has got to go for sure but I'm also mixed on whether to re-sign Copp) but I think the wings shake out like this:
1st line wings: Lafreniere and Kreider - Kreider is a deflection machine and scores goals closer to the net, I don't think he needs to be on the left side to succeed and a lot of his goals come on the powerplay. Lafreniere on the other hand is stronger on the left side and given that he had like 20 goals or whatever at even strength, he should be on the left.
2nd line wings: Panarin and Kakko - Panarin will drive the offense of this line no matter who the center is. Kakko played well opposite Panarin earlier this year before the kid line took off. Maybe Chytil is here if they don't re-sign Copp?
3rd line wings: Blais and Kravtsov - but of a hot take, I know, but I do think Krav and the Rangers make amends (a la Puljujarvi and the Oilers a couple years back). Blais mostly plays the right side but given Krav's skill and need to develop in the NHL, I think the priority is for Krav to be on the right. Blais is a mix of skill and grit, so I think having him with an offensively skilled guy like Krav would be smart.
4th line wings: Motte and Reaves - centered likely by Goodrow, this line is one of the best fourth lines in the league imo. Defensively savvy, hard to play against. Kind of a dream fourth line if you ask me. And Hunt can sub in for Reaves if they need an offensive spark.
Really no need for Vatrano imo.</div></div>
That’s all dependent on Kravtsov and the Rangers making amends tho. Obviously if Krav is back then there’s no need for Vatrano to be back. Also will be interesting to see how Cuylle and Othmann factor into this and if the team feels like one of them can make the jump to the NHL at some point next year. Center is still the issue with this team tho, even if you get rid of the Vatrano and Rooney signings that would leave us with $5,871,031 in cap. Is Copp worth committing 5-5.5 aav to for the next 5-6 years? And if we do again that leaves us with no room to maneuver at the deadline
