It'll take a lot more than a decent wing prospect who hasn't played meaningful games yet and a backup goalie to get him. It is hard to find a comp for this kind of trade because guys like him just never get traded, even when they are on bad teams.</div></div>
whatcha say i swapped 3rd for their first this year or next year, cause its ether swayman or ullmark going if not this then next year cause of cap reasons, whats ur opinion?

What happens in the off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>There's no real point to the Flames trade from a Calgary perspective. If they could move Monahan easily then maybe Kerfoot comes in as a 3C and Pelletier filles Dube's spot but outside of a perfect fit I don't think Calgary does that, giving up an underperforming controllable asset for 1 year of an overperforming Kerfoot isn't great asset management.</div></div>
That’s why I sent it as a 1 for 1, with that exact scenario happening, Monohan leave in offseason, dune becomes expendable for someone who can be an upgrade to a 2/3C guy and Pelletier take over as well either as a winger or Centerman, also given they picked up Toffoli I thought maybe a play making guy for the 2/3C spot would help give the team 2-3 lines of scoring, leafs then take the cheaper guy who still has potential but is high risk, high reward

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zyyyp</b></div><div>Wow this is tough. I love Nylander, think he'd be a great fit in Jersey with Hughes but Siegenthaler is the best shutdown defenceman we've had in a loooong time. D core would need a ton of work if we lost him and Severson.
I think I'd still do it but I had to think about it for a while. Interesting proposal!</div></div>
Could send back a guy like Kokonen, who’s a 20 yr old Left shot D man who’s one of the leafs top 5 prospects, he’s more so of a two way D man, but could still be a potential top 4 guy in 2-3 years tops

What if they miss
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zyyyp</b></div><div>obviously Barrie is a big downgrade, that's why we're getting two 1sts. From a team that's struggled to have success as well, those picks could be pretty high value.
I doubt Severson wants to re-sign here and if he does he will want way more than he's worth. He'd want like 6M+ on a long term deal and I'm telling him to kick rocks at that price.</div></div>
That is exactly why I sent 2 Firsts, it’s risky but the oilers can’t keep going for low risk, low reward moves. They really need to push for stuff and make this team full on win now mode or McDavid and Darisaitl will be Bye Bye very soon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_bettman</b></div><div>Easy no from SJ</div></div>
It’s a coin flip, on one hand they do get a potential top 6 winger back who has more upside than Balcers, on top of a middle 6 NHLer already and a potential future NHL backup. I could swap Reimer for Hill but I think they wanna keep Hill and ride him as the starter with Sawchenko as the backup while they go through there rebuild/retool phase

My preference is to buy Kassian out as opposed to spending assets to move his bloated deal.</div></div>
Buying out Kassians deal is way to costly, it will last to long and giving up a 3rd for dumping his deal would be the most beneficial way to get his money off the books, I understand doing a buyout but weighing the pros and cons of buyout VS Trade, a trade looks like the most efficient and cost reducing way of getting him off the books

i see him as being a great fit with Bouchard to help the kid be better defensively as he's more offensive-minded but to help with cap neal goes other way, and laggeson is replacement possible bottom pair guy with ok upside

Buffalo trade and maybe more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LindyRuffRider</b></div><div>I think Buffalo would accept.</div></div>
The trade isn’t actually that bad value wise, they get a top 6 F with term, left shot d guy who can play 16-18 mins a night a B level C/W prospect who can jump in the bottom 6 next year and a 3rd round pick(might be a few years down line but still a early round pick), Barrie will help with leafs depth and give Calgary that right shot puck moving d they are missing(still need a top 6 wing, maybe a johnsson can be thrown in for another 2nd or something idk) and the trade with Anaheim clears ceci cap and gives them a pick for it while getting an ok right shot d prospect with some potential for a depth guy for the leafs(might need to send more, maybe another pick or another prospect not really sure what the price to take ceci is, which is hard to gauge rest of value in trade)

? Bracco has some value he’s played well three straight years now in the AHL and has shown he’s pretty much NHL ready, Barrie has 5 goals and 33 points in 60 games with 68 blocked shots and 38 hits so he hasn’t been awful he’s been about average so he has value ceci is cap dump that’s y they send a first, kapanen has been better than kase so kapanen, Bracco and Barrie together could get Manson so really it’s that plus ceci and a first for kase
