No I think it’s the quality you gave up in nylander, niemela and the first (now removed) for middle 6 forwards and bottom pairing dmen. And then on top of that, you threw in 2 more prospects because….. the players on Winnipeg were worth more than that?

kyle dubas
Swayman is the starter in waiting in Boston, and he is still going to be reasonably priced for the foreseeable future. It'll take a lot more than a decent wing prospect who hasn't played meaningful games yet and a backup goalie to get him. It is hard to find a comp for this kind of trade because guys like him just never get traded, even when they are on bad teams.

Trevor Moore is playing top-6 minutes now, Muzzin is on the decline and riddled with injuries. Not sure our teams wants/needs are matching up any longer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>That’s why I sent it as a 1 for 1, with that exact scenario happening, Monohan leave in offseason, dune becomes expendable for someone who can be an upgrade to a 2/3C guy and Pelletier take over as well either as a winger or Centerman, also given they picked up Toffoli I thought maybe a play making guy for the 2/3C spot would help give the team 2-3 lines of scoring, leafs then take the cheaper guy who still has potential but is high risk, high reward</div></div>
Well thought out for sure, I don't know if Calgary would bite but certainly an interesting thought!

There's no real point to the Flames trade from a Calgary perspective. If they could move Monahan easily then maybe Kerfoot comes in as a 3C and Pelletier filles Dube's spot but outside of a perfect fit I don't think Calgary does that, giving up an underperforming controllable asset for 1 year of an overperforming Kerfoot isn't great asset management.

Wow this is tough. I love Nylander, think he'd be a great fit in Jersey with Hughes but Siegenthaler is the best shutdown defenceman we've had in a loooong time. D core would need a ton of work if we lost him and Severson.
I think I'd still do it but I had to think about it for a while. Interesting proposal!

What if they miss
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>It’s a coin flip, on one hand they do get a potential top 6 winger back who has more upside than Balcers, on top of a middle 6 NHLer already and a potential future NHL backup. I could swap Reimer for Hill but I think they wanna keep Hill and ride him as the starter with Sawchenko as the backup while they go through there rebuild/retool phase</div></div>
It isn't terrible but as of now it's subtracting a piece of our top six and our best goalie in exchange for a backup and 2 bottom six forwards. Not really ideal so it's a pretty easy pass.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewLadd</b></div><div>I’m gonna have to go with Brandon Dubinsky cuz he’s the GOAT</div></div>
To be honest, Dubinsky is way better than Crosby. Sidney Crosby is an embarrassment to hockey. He’s a cheap shot artist who hits out at other opponents, then he runs away like a baby. He is always crying to referees and diving for power play. He does not deserve to be inducted to the Hockey Hall Of Fame, he is simply not a big game player as he disappears every playoffs. There’s nothing about his talent that makes him stand out, he’s not particularly skilled at anything. He only knows how to score lucky goals and make overrated plays. Brandon Dubinsky is a much more respectable and established hockey player than Sid, therefore I’d easily take him any day of the week on my team over the crybaby loser who hasn’t achieved anything in his career.

Hall has only hit 30 goals once and has totaled 80 points twice. Marchand has hit 30+ goals in 4 straight seasons, 85+ in the past three while also being one of the best pests, two-way F and penalty killers in the league. I dont care if Hall had one good year with decent linemates, Marchand is 100% better

its going to be fineee
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyfan173</b></div><div>Henrik Zetterberg played all 82 games last year. If the wings can put him on LTIR with "back problems" why cant the leafs do that with marleau and have him out with an irritation from his equipment. Have you forgotten about Lupul and Robidas</div></div>
Because Zetterberg actually had back problems that literally forced him to retire, and the guy you're referring to with "irritation" from his equipment was Hossa, which was also a genuine problem which is why he was allowed to go on IR. So no, you can't just put a player on LTIR cuz your cap situation isn't working, I'm pretty sure that's cap circumvention. And the biggest consideration with this would be, why would Marleau agree to sit out the final year of his deal when he's fine? Doesn't make any sense and is just an overall stupid suggestion, no offence.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>Haha as a leafs fan I can agree with the toilet seat thing? it may be plain old rude and disrespectful but you gotta have a little fun once in awhile. And I do see your point to me that’s a fair trade but Montreal might ask for a third to be added or even a C/B level prospect to be added and at that point if I’m phillys managment I would do it Gallagher can still score he has had back to back 30 goal seasons and danault is still only 26 and can be a 40 point guy. As long as I’m only adding a third or a C level prospect at best I would be fine to budge other than that the trade is fair and just to add to this thanks for actually having a convo with me to discuss this because half the time people just show up like the mtl Fan and say that trade sucks, your stupid, don’t ever make theses again, you have no hockey knowledge, damn I even had someone get so mad as to call me a 13 yr old ?</div></div>

Roster change up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hackadart</b></div><div>I see it as a 20 y.o center with 30 points but a potential for a lot more and a valuable draft pedigree vs. A 26 y.o (will be 27 at time of trade) winger with 46 points already at his ceiling, there is no question who has more value and it’s not the guy wearing a toilet seat on his chest.... that last part was just rude but you see my point</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>What would make the trade fair then? Add a first? A second? Another prospect?</div></div>
There are many reasons that it's doubtful Montreal would rush to trade Gallagher, but Gallagher for Patrick has the makings of a decent hockey trade, giving both teams something they need now. For the Flyers it's a guy who comes to play every night and knows his role. For the Habs, it's a quality first-line forward who still has a lot of growing to do. Danault isn't going anywhere for a while as he's the most responsible centreman Montreal has and he's a Francophone who's happy to play in Montreal and doesn't buckle under the pressure.
As for the toilet seat comment, meh. Thanks for coming out tho.....

I think NJD say no but the other two could work, only thing is would change on leafs trade is a little retention and then a pick going the other way because the leafs need cap relief and can’t afford to pay 3.5 to a #4 Defenseman

Best player from each team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>-Josi I agree
-kopitar and doughty are equal so it’s either or whatever your feeling
-Scheifele is only good because of wheeler
-Without Andersen leafs are screwed cause we have no defence and we have a lot of guys producing on offence
-Brazal I can agree he has stepped it up and islanders do also have griess who has done well
-hall is injured and has been for months now so palmeri who has actually played is better, hell blackwood could be the damn mvp of that team
-same as kopitar and doughty you chose who you want they are equal and tbh avalanche only really and truly have 1 line
-OEL, Keller or even kuemper who has been on his head half the time
-burns leads league in points for a d man and has been able to defend well and he hasn’t been injured unlike karlsson who’s been down twice and done till playoffs
-stone just got there and none of the players on Vegas have done what they did last season and flower leads the league wins for goalies and shutouts if I’m not mistaken
-markstrom is holding his injured team of canucks in a playoff spot
-I can agree to say ROR is the mvp of the team but if he wasn’t doing what he’s doing the team has Allen as the goalie and he sucks he makes some players look like better goalies some nights
Thanks for reading this and loving my info have a great night pal</div></div>
I just have to point out that no, Burns is the defensive liability. Karlsson is very good in his own end, his possession numbers are out of this world. Also Markström is actually very good this year, and I commend you for giving him credit, but EP has taken that team from possibly worst in the league to playoff-aspirator. Fleury might lead the league in wins, but also in starts. I don't really think I have to make any educated arguments about how wins doesn't say a lot about a goalie. I agree with you on Andersen, and honestly regarding Wheeler/Scheifele too, with an asterisk.
*Scheifele is still v good but Wheeler drives play like crazy
