Notes after last night
Holl is a Top 4 out default. They don't have anyone good enough to take that place.
They gave up 4 breakaways!! The D is bad imo. Thankfully they have Anderson behind them.
Must improve D and Johnsson I think is the guy you can get the most back with out of the two.

That is a a very bad D core.
Tiny and soft
Sandin and Liljegren are going to rookies and not good enough YET to play minutes they will need too with this.

So you guys think Matthews is the third best player in the whole league?
Especially value on his contract?

No body. Just that he is from there is why I picked it.
Nothing involved other than frustration of watching a 11.6 million player not even be the best on his team.
Would you say he's in the top 10 centres in the NHL right now? Just think he is overpiad.

Healthy lineup
Sandin is not coming up this year. Let him get stronger for another year.
Ceci played the most minues in the first two games under Keefe. He's not as bad as everyone says on here , and is a top 4 RHD.
Remember who Holl plays agianst comparded to who Ceci plays against. Can't see Holl going against top lines anytime.

I agree with this. Even with the first game with Keefe, Ceci lead the team in ice time.
Rielly and Barrie have made a lot of defensiv emistakes this year. Hopefully with a new system this will be cleaned up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>Oh my god he must be the best player on the leafs. Did he get it by going into the corners and playing with heart? Nope he was infront of the net and put the puck in. Kapanen would have scored if hyman didnt turn around. He was pretty much standing in front of the net, that could have been gauthier standing there and we still would have scored on the powerplay. Such a valuable piece on the powerplay</div></div>
Being a net front guy is a skill, that a lot of guys have made acreers out of. So NO Gauither probably does not get there or screens the goalie like Hyman does. Didn't say he's the best player either, your just mad that your wrong about Hyman. If the Leafs had more players that play the way Hyman does they would win more games.

Hyman would be doing the exact same thing. Hes not a very good shooter, passer or tipper. The only thing he would contribute to the powerplay is puck retrieval off a dump in and dumping the puck in is the last thing you want to do</div></div>
Did Hyman score on the PP last night?

Change of Scenery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>The player says, "Its just not going great right now." And you hear, he has no intentions of signing. Who said anything about contract talks? He's not been playing well, I am sure even he has no intentions of talking about that stuff now. Just take a breath and relax.</div></div>
Well first off they do not have Cap space to sign him to what they say he wants and actually have 6 NHL playable Dman. The contract talk comes into play in the trade, and why they would trade him. You must Know Barrie personally though to know that's not true.

Change of Scenery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>They would just rather let him walk than do a bad valued trade. Barrie is one of the most productive Dmen in last 3/4 seasons and suddenly it all disappears? No. Its there. Just needs different usage. He was like 4th forward with Avs and he is more back with Leafs and he is not fit for that role. They will try to get him going. He can score a lot without PPs, but he needs right usage. He is elite at reading offensive roles and chances. they should let him be that. Now paired with Dermott, he would have more security with faster Dmen as his left shot partner. They are not trading him.</div></div>
I would like to see him be on that PP instead of Reilly, as he is a good shooting option. BUt with Babcock as coach, I do not see his role changing, why I am hoping to get something for him rather than him just being brutal all year and walking away.

I do not see how Barrie would get anything more than this?
He's a UFA next year, and does not sound like he has any interest in signing withthe Leafs.
This trade is wishful thinking, as I agree I do not believe they will move him right now.
Do you think they are going to just let him walk then or what would they offier him?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>He also had an extremely high shooting percentage and that will come down. Unless he is being setup backdoor he is pretty much ineffective when it comes to scoring. I play with heart so does that mean I can play on the first pp unit? Nope because i would be a **** show, I could also go to the net but that doesnt mean I would do anything. He rarely gets possession of a loose puck but "you watched the games" so you know better. I've watched all the games and it's not hard to tell that he just pins the defender and creates a distraction so one of his linemates can get the loose puck. Hyman is a very effective player but he has shown that he does not have the offensive skills to play on either powerplay unit</div></div>
A player that pins the guys so his linemates gets the puck is what they are suppose to do. First guy in is suppose to take body. Hockey 101. Hence Marner and Tavares struggle a bit without Hyman.
He may not be there number 1 option on the PP, but he sure would not hurt them, as this team is in need of someone getting to pucks first and battling hard in all areas of the game.

Hyman Had 21 goals last year.
He plays with heart and gets every lose puck. That's what the PP needs.
He is always in front of the net so not sure what you are watching.

Hyman is a type of players the Leafs Need, and at his 2.25 Mill contract, it's a terrible trade.
3 Young small Rookie D as well in Sandin, Liljgren and Drysadale.
They will get hammered on.

Quick Question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>And they don’t put Matthews on when we are down a goal in the last 2min of a playoff game what does that tell you? Babs is a bad coach.
Nylander does his best work without the puck in the neutral zone and is just fine without the puck in his own end. Especially when playing centre.</div></div>
What does best work without the puck in the neutral Zone do? That's what your going to say get's him 7 mil a year and makes him a good player? We could find a lot of players to do that.
I agree with you on Babcock, I wish their was change as well. I think he has made terrible in game coaching decsions. I do however feel that Nylander is not a winger or centreman you want in your own end at the end of a game.

Quick Question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>It is this stigma with him that he is soft and a one way player. This mostly comes from people who don’t watch him play. They assume he is worthless if he isn’t putting up points every night. Nothing could be further from the truth.</div></div>
He is a One way player. They don't and won't put him on the ice with 5 mins left in the game even if they are up a couple goals. What does that tell you ?
I think he is good, But he's not a two way player.
People get on him because 7 mill is a lot for a guy that is not on the first unit PP, can't play in the last 5 mins of a game becasue you can't trust him and is overall pretty soft.

Liljegren, Sandin ( who will be good just not yet ) and Borgamn
Plus a 4-5D in Dermott man playing top pairing.
Leafs lose big time on this

I agree, Top 4 D man is needed as well as a backup and thought Campbell would push Anderson and is capable of playing more games. I don't think they will move Nylander either, just wishing they would. Not a 7 mil player imo

I watch all games and probably played a way higher level of hockey than you just sitting on the couch posting every 2 seconds.
The cycle game is not very relivant anymore. They swtitch sides with the puck and control the puck instead.
Nylander is soft. Watch him along the boards him there is a 50/50 puck. The Have too mnay of those guys. Boeser may not be the one and like the comment above Vancouver may not have the Cap,
just was throwing my opinion out on a Leafs lines and what I think needs to happen.
