What I'm saying is that Mrazek is not at bad value like you're saying, and even if he was (which he isn't), it is still true that CBJ is not attractive to UFAs unless they're overpaid. There's no denying that.

Amirov's too high of a price imo. You can get Wood for cheaper. I think if we're gonna trade Amirov it's gotta be for someone like Miller Chychrun or Konecny. Could go that route and get one of these players instead. Muzzin on LTIR would help with this.

Contracts not as bad as people make it seem. And CBJ may have a hard time attracting UFAs in the summer so may be the best they can do.

Could be right. I was thinking maybe you can keep the AAV down if you go longer in term. Maybe we'll get a UFA starter for cheaper if we can't get Campbell at a good number.

To anyone who looks back at the 2015 NHL Draft, they would see that Dermott was drafted 34th overall. Dermott's a young defenseman who still has potential and can use a fresh start. Saying Engvall is useless to you is stupid, he's a young player who's super fast, at a great cap hit, is an RFA after this season, who can score, and who has potential to be a good 3rd liner. Rather than trying to devalue these players, look at your roster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>again, no. ritchie has no place on the team, they have more than enough bottom six players. the reason he took on martin was specifically because of his role in the organization, it’s ridiculous to leave that part out of your assessment. and they just terminated leo’s contract because he was useless. if you want to get rid of ritchie, throw in a third or something and maybe you have a deal but not for nothing.</div></div>
Ritchie has no place on the team? Nobody on your team can score a goal, and RItchie had 15 last year. NYI is literally paying Pageau 5mil for a 10 goal season pace and Josh Bailey 5mil for a 7 goal season pace. So when you talk about place on the team, do these players not have a place on the team as well? Lou throughout his time with Toronto, NJ, and NYI has made bad deals. Whether it's signing zaitsev, martin, komarov, or trading for Martin (who he originally signed), that's what Lou does. The whole role in the organization thing is nonsense - you pay for what the player can bring on the ice, and Ritchie, a 15 goal scorer and a mean player out there, is someone Lou would easily take for 2.5. Clutterbuck's at 3.5 lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nqutilus</b></div><div>Save me the sob "injury" story. His metrics, both regular and advanced, have been poor. "A change of scenery" isn't an excuse for a 30 y/o goalie. He's a backup goalie at best. We're not giving you a starter, AND a 4th for him.
Also, you're not one to be a choosing beggar, especially considering your cap situation. You need to re-sign Campbell and Rielly has a more lucrative extension. So either offer us something of interesting for Fleury, and/or something of value to take Mrazek.</div></div>
You're simply wrong. He's a tandem goalie, and with Lankinen, that's a good match. If I were you I'd rather have a tandem goalie at a great number for 3 years than one for a ridiculous 7.5 for one year before he wants to leave. It's gonna be hard attracting UFA goalies to come to Chicago because they're not a winning team right now. The only way they'd come is if Chicago overpays. That overpayment will have to be around Mrazek's number, so I'd rather have a goalie who's worth 3.8 in Mazek than who's overpaid at 3.8. So, we're the ones giving you the advantage - a goalie at a good cap hit, who's a good tandem goalie, and who's locked in (preventing you from having to overpay to bring UFA goalies to Chicago).

We could sign a goalie for much less who's as good or better. Add in the fact it's unlikely we're going to be competitive next year, this return makes no sense. Fleury might bring back a first round pick, or at least a second. Add in us retaining money and possibly giving up a pick? We'd be better off letting him walk for nothing</div></div>
You're wrong. He is a quality starting/tandem goalie, and 3.8 for this is a good price. A goalie at a lower number won't be as good as Mrazek is, unless they're on an ELC. While you're retaining, we're giving you a goalie with 2 more years after, which is why the deal balances out, without us giving you an additional sweetener. In other words, Mrazek's remaining 2 years is the sweetener. Why have a starter for only 1 more year when you can get a tandem goalie (with Lankinen) for 3?

I don't go by place in the organization, I go by the quality of the player. Ritchie just came off a 15 goal season and also has a physical side on top of that. Martin's always been a fourth liner, so if Lou was willing to pay a fourth liner 2.5, he would have no problem paying 2.5 for someone with decent offensive potential and who's more than a fourth liner. Lou also signed Komarov to 3mil lol. It's just something Lou would do.

Could go that route, but then you'll still need another goalie. Mrazek/Lankinen isn't a bad tandem, and Mrazek is young, a capable starter, and on a good contract. Mrazek's contract isn't bad at all - today more and more players are getting overpaid - Trouba at 8mil, Hischier at 7.2, Werenski at 9.5, Jones at 9.5, Hughes at 8. Mrazek's deal is fair/reasonable and affordable, and as reported recently, his contract isn't an issue for teams around the league.

I would normally agree with you about adding a pick to take Ritchie, but knowing Lou he would do Chara for Ritchie 1 for 1. He took Matt Martin's deal at an identical (to Ritchie) 2.5, and I'd say that Ritchie is worth the 2.5 more than Martin was (and still is) when acquiring him.

Fleury's a UFA and were giving you a starting goalie with term. It's essentially a starting goalie who's an upcoming UFA for a starter with 2 years left at a good cap hit. Better than losing Fleury for nothing in the summer. To get a starter in return is what Chicago should want in return for Fleury, and Mrazek is that and younger and locked up.

It depends what Columbus thinks of Dermott and Engvall. They may look at them and say that with more of an opportunity and a fresh start, they can thrive. They're also relatively young which is what would entice Columbus. As for Domi, he's an upcoming UFA, so rather than him leaving in the summer and Columbus losing him for nothing, Columbus can get two young guys that still have potential to grow. And Domi hasn't been too great either, nowhere near what Columbus thought they were getting when trading for him. Could be a fresh start for Domi. Domi's value isn't high right now, given he's a UFA and that he has a bad contract, so rather than losing for nothing, we're giving you two young players with potential to grow. And it makes sense for us because we have too many Engvall-types on forward, we need someone with an edge.

Mrazek was injured for a while, so he hasn't played a lot of games. Lately, he's been solid. And sometimes, even if you're saying he's been bad, which I don't believe to be true, you simply need a fresh start, and that is what Mrazek may need. Rather then losing Fleury in free agency for NOTHING, we're giving you a goalie with 2 years left at a reasonable cap hit for a capable starting/tandem goalie.

Mrazek has term, Fleury's an upcoming UFA. So this deal makes sense so you don't lose Fleury for nothing. Pretty good return too, in Mrazek.
