Complete team
I think liljegren is in the top 6. Teams looks rlly good just worry that if u put sandin on top pair this year, he will need a raise with money the leafs don’t have next year. The forward group looks very deep and u can get goals from all four lines, although I thing Willy goes back with Matthews next year.

This is just last years team but with losing Hyman, why would a worse version of last years team lead to a different result?

If u sign dougie reilly is getting traded and sandin will play ld2. Cannot have a bottom 7 forwards signed for under 1.5 mil and expect to have the depth to be good.

Where to go if you cant trade Marner
I like a lot of what u did... on defense the only thing I would change is sandin Brodie, muzzin Dougie, liljegren Hutton as the pairs, which would free up space without holls contract. I like the goalie u signed and the price. Up front Matthew’s will be w nylander this season, Im not sure how I like copp on the first line, would rather sign Coleman to 3.5 ish instead of copp. I think u get rid of kerfoot for Myb a pick and sign granlund to 3.5. Also I think u went a little over bored with a 22 man roster- not that it’s unrealistic at all but all of last year the leafs had a 20 man roster with enough space to call up one guy from minors if needed, that just depends if nhl allows taxi squad again.

Life without Hyman
Both granlund and Coleman will make around 3.5 give or take a few 100k. Also Engvall and mikeheyev will both be gone next season, I think dubas has realized neither of them give what the team lacked... depth scoring.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>Ok. I looked. Agree with the feedback. Dvorak is a legit top 6, and spare parts even with a 2nd doesn't get him. Dvorak = Roberston. Yotes won't take much less imo, and that is counterproducitve long term.
There is one simple fact here: to add scoring depth, one of the 4 go. My selection would be Marner as he would be 2 × $6 million deals.
But if management is bent on keeping them together, like it or lump it, there is a reality scoring depth won't be there.
The only hope is a LTIR injury that frees up cap space for the deadline.... even then, it may not work. Didn't this year.</div></div>
I made a different team where I trade marner for Dvorak and 2 second rounders and with the extra money you can add Hoffman for around 4 mil and Doug Hamilton for around 8. And yes ur right it is a lot easier to move Mariners contract than people think.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>Agree to disagree on Roberston and Liligren.
Robertson's small sample size with the Marlies was good, but does smack of 100% on the starting roster. I see a guy who will benefit tremndously with a full year of top 6 minutes in the AHL, and in 21-22, flanks JT and Nylander..... and should look fantastic doing it. Just not there on his roster spot beong guarentreed.
Liligren: his development has been hampered by injuried over the last couple seasons. I like his odds of making the club, but again, no guarentee. If he is a #6, we could do worse than Bogo as a #7..... he was good this year.
As for your scoring depth comment. No kidding. Did you really think that's getting fixed without miving one of the big 4 or Reilly?
Read my description. I said risks. Gusev is a risk. Staal (who I frankly think matches Kerfoot's production here) is a risk. Crouse has offensive upside that won't be realized in Arizona (think around 35 points), but that is a risk.
Keeping the big 4 100% means coming back withbthe same team and expecting a different result. Kinda why I titled it "Blah"..... and concluded with an "I don't like it".🤦♂️</div></div>
To fix scoring they will most likely look to add a top 6 scorer by trade. Check the team I made titled “trading for Dvorak” (the trade I made for him was meh, pretend I put in a second rounder to get him as well)

Would rather put Robertson in the top 6 and use humans money to sign a guy like janmark for granlund. Also there are goalies u can get for cheaper to be ur backup. Y have ur backup making more than ur starter?

Look at kerfoot contract vs Dvorak’s. Kerfoot has his cheapest years left on his contract whereas Dvorak is the opposite. Maybe leafs would add a little more but simply looking at the players face value doesn’t give u near the whole picture

Y spend 3.5 mil for someone to play on ur third pair when u could spend it on a third line that desperately needs more scoring. Also where is Robertson?

IMO spending more money in the top 6 is most definitely not the call. And even if somehow the free agents signed for what u offered still not enough scoring in the bottom 6

He is fs I good target, it just depends on how much garlands contract would be. I rlly like the way the third line on the team I made looks scoring wise and if garlands contract doesn’t allow for that idk if it’s worth.

They are not trading marner for another superstar, they would only trade him if they really feel they need to spread more cap space to their third line, also sandin will not play off side and no reason not to put liljegren on the third line

Marner and holl for guentzel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Just like the leafs, and every other team, the Pens are strapped with this flat cap.
They probably won’t be able to sign all their RFA and UFA(that should be signed) unless they move a contract.
The Pens don’t make a trade unless it gives them cap relief. That’s just realistic.
And in my opinion, Marner is not 5M a year better than Guentzel. Guentzel has a 40 goal season. Plays tougher, just look at the hits(which both the pens and the leafs need).
Marner is gonna be tough to move with this flat cap.
Unless the leafs take a loss and just take the cap relief. Every team is so strapped. Look at every ACGM trade post. Every teams fans are like, no way, we can’t afford it..lol.</div></div>
Ya I mean I don’t think anyone is expecting this trade to happen, the flat cap is impossible to work around. But Mariners contract is a lot more moveable than people think. Any teams who r no where near the cap limit actually only have to pay him 24 mil in real dollars over the next 4 years (6 mil a year). So while his contract won’t be sent to a contender with cap problems, it is still very moveable

If marner is being moved the only reason they would do that would be to spread out cap space through their lineup. Eichel doesn’t allow us to do that, I don’t think dubas would offer this trade and Buffalo wouldn’t accept
