That's like saying you wouldn't want Devon Toews because of his contract. Weegar's cap hit for what he provides is great, it's just long

time for change
Flames decline both trades and there's no chance they use all 3 retention slots in the off-season. Mangiapane retained is worth way more and no reason to include Pelletier and Kuzmenko in a Markstrom trade
Also horrible Roslovic deal, keep Zary at center

For Toronto? It really isn't, it would be a great deal for them. Boldy and JEE are 2 of the better 2-way players in the league both on very good deals. I would put Boldy on par defensively to Marner and JEE above him. The loss in Marners offense from the wing would be better distributed by a significantly more balanced lineup. Marner alone isn't worth both of them.
On the other hand, did you see that Swayman trade? Yikes

Joshua Yes Hronek Nah
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joblow</b></div><div>We got the point you are a habs hater! Everyone have noticed it, that’s fine but come on. Stop with the bull****. Matheson under 5 millions is a massive bargain. No mather what you think, if you look at contract giving to defenseman around the league he make a lot less than what he should. Hronek is younger and that about it. He will cost a lot more then the 4,85 that matheson make.</div></div>
I don't hate the Habs, I actually like a lot of players on their team. I was one of the first to say Edmonton were ****es for not selecting Caufield at #8. I'm a big Dach fan and hope he can get past this spree of injuries to have a successful career. I really like Suzuki's 3-way game. I defended Slaf when people were calling him a bust after last year. I thought the Reinbacher pick was solid, when most of your own fanbase was loosing their mind over it.
It's just as simple as I'm not blind enough to fall for the trap of Matheson's, outlier season points total at age 30. There are very few players players in the league who had more points on the power play than they did at 5v5. Here is everyone that had at least 15 PP points; Stamkos, Zuccarello, Zibanijad, Matheson, Gostisbehere, L Hughes, Burns, Fowler, Montour, N. Foligno, Johnson. Foligno and Johnson are there because they played on the PP with Bedard but are otherwise 3rd liners. Montour had a major injury. Hughes is a rookie and stepped in to replace Dougie on PP1 on NJ. Fowler was moved to his off hand with the promotion of Mintyukov and Zellweger. The rest are all PP specialists for the most part, Zibanijad being the exception but Rangers fans have been complaining about his play all year.
Let's clarify something, I do not think Montreal should trade Matheson at all, his value to them as a team vastly outweighs his market value. They have a young D-core and need to shelter it as best they can. I do think Matheson will lose his PP1 job next season to either Hutson or Mailloux though. He probably won't get much more than 30 points.

Little bit means a low pick (3rd round or under).</div></div>
But that would imply Matheson's contract is a steal which it is not.
On the other hand Hronek is younger, right handed, and better

That is just completely untrue. He was quite good when he got called last year. This year he had 2 shoulder injuries, 1 requiring surgery. He wasn't playing in the NHL much this year because the only roster spot available for him was the same one Coronato was occupying the other half of the time

Calgary asked for Mercer originally but like with Saros he was never made available. My understanding is that the deal has something to do with Holtz and their 1st, likely protected. Most of the info on the deal was pretty obscure though so exact details are not ever coming out

Flames pass then, probably. We aren't desperate to move him unless the deal is worthwhile. Markstrom @ 50% for 2 years is worth more than a late 2nd and a guy who projects as a 3rd liner

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>Vegas gonna need to shed some cap and Bahl+ 3rd is more than fair for Hague
Markstrom had a disastrous last quarter of the season after the complete debacle by CGY management leading up to the TDL. We know 3 things regarding the Markstrom situation :
1) He clearly doesn’t wanna be in CGY anymore
2) He’s willing to waive to NJ
3) CGY likes Holtz</div></div>
Vegas only needs to shed cap if they want to keep Marchessault. And even then they probably don't move Hague.
Markstrom didn't have a disastrous quarter, the quality of the team took a nose dive after moving Hanifin and Tanev.

Not sure that's a particularly good argument, he started the season on IR and Philly came out of the gates strong, when he came back they didn't want to mess with chemistry too much. Then he had a season ending injury
