if lindstrom or demidov are gone

But moving up from 9 to 5 is not just moving up 4 spots, it’s a bigger jump than if a team went from 13 to 9. To get into the top 5 would cost more than a pick swap and a late 1st, even if it is just 4 spots. And again I’m not saying it would cost Rasmus andersson, but I would still cost a bit for a team to move up. Just as it would cost Montreal a good amount to move up from 5 to 3 or 2</div></div>
No it isn't. The difference between 9 and 5 in this draft is negligible. Most I'll offer is a 3rd. We'll give you Andersson alone for #5, but aren't attaching #9 lol

There have been posts like that but it realistically isn't going to happen. Most of those posts are either complete team retools (ie also selling off Nelson and one of Pelech/Pulock), or having them dump Lee to afford someone like Guentzel on the market

Do you believe we need a Centre to replace Lindholm and if so, do you have any suggestions? I’ve been pitching trading Pelletier for FLA’s Luostarinen but haven’t received any feedback. I like Big Bodied Defensive Centre’s who can score like we’ve had in the past in Lindholm and Backlund. Not really a Fan of the idea of bringing Monahan back either tbh</div></div>
I believe we have too many forward positions occupied for this season already. So unless we sell a forward we should not be UFA hunting

He plays primarily winger. Jarome says he is interested in playing center, but that does not mean he is a center. Still not worth trading up for. If Iginla is gone before #9 then 2 of Dickinson, Buium, Parekh, Catton, or Silayev will still be available

Pretty easy no for Calgary. If Iginla is gone by 9 then we draft a positional need. If he's not then we draft Iginla

Post Bergeron Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>your example is a team that has absolutely no cap restrictions for the foreseeable future. That is most certainly not the case with the Bruins. Nothing would be more impactful for them than having a center playing on his ELC for them. With Vlasic, I believe signing him after college burns a year off the ELC regardless. It's a common tactic, because otherwise you might lose the players rights entirely. So Reichel might be your only example, and to be honest I don't know enough about the situation to comment on the handling of his contract.</div></div>
That was 1 example, but this is something that Friedman talked about on 32 thoughts a while back. Simon Edvinsson maybe?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>when a team burns a year off a players ELC as a teenager, and they would be eligible for full AHL duties at the end of the season with the entry level slide in effect, it means they're an NHLer. teams don't just burn ELC years on non NHL guys. he got hurt and needed season ending surgery. it happens.</div></div>
Actually teams have started burning them on purpose recently because they are far more likely to get that player on a long term team friendly deal if their ELC ends before they reach their potential. Iirc Chicago recently did this with Alex Vlasic and Lukas Reichel. If you know you are going to have the cap space in 2 years to sign them to a more team friendly deal then it's logical to burn the ELC asap.

Also, Swayman is 2nd in save% and 3rd in GAA over the past two seasons. after seeing him in the playoffs, 7-12 is a ranking that would likely raise some eyebrows.</div></div>
Whatever, 33 games in my book does not qualify you as an NHLer.
Swayman plays behind a very strong defense in a very defense oriented system. He is a good goalie but I doubt anyone is taking him above Shesterkin, Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Saros, Hellebuyck, or Demko. Probably not Oettinger either. That's 7 goalies right there. You can probably make a compelling argument for any of Bobrovsky, Binnington, or Markstrom too. And then his own teammate in Ullmark. Swayman falls somewhere in that range.
What really boggles me here is why you are getting so offended that my opinion on the original proposal isn't changed.

Bringing in Skjei sure, but no way do they trade for Harris when they have Kesselring and Soderstrom. Also they should have no trouble at all reaching the cap floor with Weber still on the books

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IDKtbh</b></div><div>I agree that Mangiapane has more value than Fabbri but he also saves CGY $2m which softens the “cap dump” in Holl.
Berggren is a fine player, you won’t need to send him down, he will be a fixture in any teams top 9 outside of Detroit. Idk what Yzerman and Lalonde are thinking half the time with their personnel decisions.
Anyhow, Berggren, a 1st (top 15 pick) & 2nd is very solid. I’m not saying I think that you should think it’s fair because that is my opinion; I am saying that you shouldn’t consider it a “bad deal” because it is far from that. I could definitely see a perspective where the exchange could favor the Wings moreso than CGY but, certainly not bad by any means.
EDIT:
Oh, and I have a feeling Pesce will cost between $5.5m-$6.25m and I’d be fine with something in between for sure.</div></div>
Calgary is going to be no where near the cap ceiling next year and probably only a couple million above the cap floor (which will be ~64.8M), especially if Markstrom gets moved, which is kind of expected at this point. So saving the 1.8M cap from Fabbri to Mangiapane is not relevant. If we are talking about actual money Fabbri is making 4.25M and Mangiapane is making exactly his cap hit so the gap between them is even smaller.
As for Berggren, its not about wanting to send him down it's about sending him or anyone else down requires waivers. As of right now this is the list of forwards on the Flames roster that are not waiver exempt:
Huberdeau, Kadri, Mangiapane (or Fabbri if the trade took place), Kuzmenko, Coleman, Backlund, Sharangovich, Rooney, Pospisil, Zary, Duehr, Hunt, Pelletier. Now you could probably get away with sending Hunt or Rooney down and that leaves you 11 spots but then Coronato and arguably Klapka should also be there. There just simply isn't enough roster spots until a decision is made with Kuzmenko, Mangiapane, and Sharangovich. Berggren is not bad but he's just more of the same, which Calgary isn't interested in. Calgary severely lacks legitimate top line talent, outside of Huberdeau everyone on the roster is pretty much a career bottom 9 player. Coronato is pretty much the only guy we have that could maybe pan out as a top line caliber guy on a contending team and he's our only waiver exempt player.
Lastly Andersson and Weegar are our only legitimate top 4 defensemen right now. Maybe if we had a D prospect pool like Montreal or Anaheim then swapping Andersson out for Holl would be acceptable but that's clearly not the case. Hell we even lost Okhotyuk, as he signed with a KHL team a couple weeks ago. IF Detroit seriously wanted Andersson then they would have to start with Danielsson/Kasper and the 1st but my guess is that Steve Y wouldn't bite.
As for Pesce, with the cap going up and the very high demand for quality RD I would be shocked if he gets less than 6M and expect at least 6.5M.

This is a very fair deal for both teams.
Personally, I love Rasmus and would be thrilled if the Red Wings acquired him, although I think we’d be better off signing Pesce to pair with Edvinsson on the 2nd pairing and using those assets to acquire some elite scoring.</div></div>
No it really isn't fair. But sure if you would rather give Pesce 6.5-7M be my guest
Even if we pretend Mangiapane and Fabbri are a wash it's still a 1st, 2nd, another middle 6 winger that can't be sent down, and a pure cap dump
