Praying for Laf Strome for Montour Lundqvist to EDM Lias to NJ

Among 197 defensemen who played at least 500 minutes at 5v5 this season, Russell ranked 4th in Goals Against/60. But to you he's a "bad d" and a "cap dump" that Edmonton has to pay to get rid of AND take a worse contract in return.

Oilers deal is pretty good dumping a bad d for a backup who can be an asset in the playoffs for EDM.
</div></div>
You should watch the Oilers, Russell has probably been their best defender in the series so far. He's far from a "bad d" especially when you're trading him for a below average goalie who has a higher cap hit AND adding assets from Edmonton's side.
We decline.

He has already refused the KHL offer, that's public information. Re-signing in Liiga wouldn't preclude an NHL return due to the transfer agreement in place between the two leagues.
In fact, I expect him to re-sign with Karpat, as their training camp starts in September whereas the next NHL tc probably won't begin until December. It doesn't make sense for him to be sitting around for 3-4 months doing nothing, he's better off playing the first half of the Liiga season and then coming back to Canada for training camp.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>Some people I don't think understand numbers. Sure his points per 60 are higher when he plays with Eichel as they should be but the charts clearly show he produces away from him also. I don't know the answer to this but I would bet that Boeser has more points per 60 playing with Petterson than he does with Jay Beagle as he should. I do know that Draisaitl has more points per 60 playing with McDavid then he does without. Does that mean that Draisatl cannot produce without McDavid of course not.</div></div>
This is completely normal, of course. But while Draisaitl scored less without McDavid, so did McDavid without Draisaitl.
McDavid without Draisaitl: 2.74 P/60
Draisaitl without McDavid: 2.75 P/60
The team is far better off with them centering their own lines.

The only reason Vancouver would entertain moving Boeser is for cap purposes. This trade doesn't help their cap situation at all, so for sure Vancouver says no.
Try trading #8 for Boeser instead.

He's NOT an unrestricted free agent though. He's under contract and full team control for another year.

My bad. Still, Draisaitl is 15 points ahead of Pastrnak and Panarin and 17 ahead of MacKinnon. All 3 played on better teams offensively. McDavid also outscored all three even as he missed a bunch of games due to injury. So my point stands: your ratings are stupid.

Top 10 scorers ppg differences from the teams 2nd highest scorer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silkysmooth42</b></div><div>I like how you did that:
and it further shows how Mackinnon wins then
Drai is 9.5 / Mcdavid is 9
Pasta is 9.5 / Marchy is 8.5
Mackinnon is 9.5 / Makar is 7.5
if they are tied at 9.6, but the next best guy on the Avs is only 7.5
So Mackinnon is most valuable</div></div>
There's a 15 point gap between Draisaitl and MacKinnon and MacKinnon played on a much better team. Their values aren't that close.
How are Eichel and Pastrnak worth more than McDavid on your scale? That's just stupid. McDavid outscored both of them while playing fewer games.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silkysmooth42</b></div><div>Yes, the .04 different between Drai and Mcdavid shows they are neither more valueable than eachother to the oilers. Mackinnon and Eichel are CLEARLY needed for their team to be successful</div></div>
Most valuable to your team can be looked at this way:
Let's say Draisaitl has a value of 10, McDavid is a 9.5, Eichel is an 8 and Reinhart is a 5. Who is the most valuable to their team? Still Draisaitl even though the gap between 1-2 isn't as big as it is with the Sabres forwards. He's worth a 10 to his team while Eichel is only worth an 8.
Anyway voters don't like anyone who missed the playoffs, so Eichel is off the list.

Draisaitl: 49.33%
Pastrnak: 41.85%
Panarin: 40.77%
Eichel: 40.41%

With a flat cap there should be plenty of bottom-6 defensive types available for fairly cheap on the open market.
