Pens 22-23
Anaheim fans probably won’t like this trade but Friedman is on a good contract for 2 seasons and should be able to be traded at the TD to a contender.
And Nylander is only 24 years old with NHL experience and coming off a 22 goal, 42 points in 67 games season in the AHL.

I did an ACGM with the Canes and Petterson fit under the cap with Gardiner traded or on the LTIR.
No big deal though. Ya, an offer sheet would make more sense just losing the 2nd round pick. But the Pens would still have to move out one of Pettersson/Dumo.
And Pettersson, Zohorna and a 2nd is more than enough value for Necas. I have no desire to argue the value of these players against Necas with their fans.

Two top 100 prospects, one 23 years old and NHL ready and one still just 21 years old, close to NHL ready.
Plus a 25 year old, mid 6, RW, that is a RFA and under team control (and has top 6 potential still), plus two 2nd round picks is more than enough.
Don’t worry though, no way Pittsburgh makes that trade.
And that return you mentioned isn’t gonna happen anyways unless he comes with an extension. He’s a one year rental my man. On an expiring contract.
As good as he is and as great as a season he had last year, one year rentals don’t bring back that kind of return.
Especially with most teams cap strapped as is and teams/GMs knowing Vancouver is over the cap and still has needs to fill. Vancouver has no leverage.
And if GMJR waits any longer when teams are even more cap strapped the return will only diminish.
And if he waits to the deadline, a late 1st and a prospect and maybe a mid round pick will be the best return possible. Again, unless he comes with an extension.
Maybe I’m wrong though. It only takes one team. I hope you guys get a haul. He’s a great player!! Good luck!!

I’m a Zucker fan. I like his game. And in 94 games with the Pens he has 24 goals. That’s basically a 20 goal scorer in a 82 game season.
And he was never able to get going, stay healthy, get a routine and chemistry with a line. Or even get hot for a week or two or a month. If that was able to happen his production with the Pens would be totally different.
And like I said, it isn’t bad anyways.
And his injuries were all just bad breaks. It wasn’t like he was injury prone and came up limp with hamstrings and stuff like that.
He’s still super fast and pesky on defense as well.
I just like a Zucker -Carter -Kappy line better.

Ya, I don’t see the Pens making this trade..lol. Sorenson is retired.
Pens tendered Kappy and gave him his QO. Hextall has said he has every intention of resigning Kappy.
And even if it goes to an arb hearing; it’ll just be around 2M per. My guess is 2.25M per. Very affordable for his upside/potential.

And if they keep the roster like this and just sign RFA Kappy then I hope Puustinen gets a shot on Geno’s LW; or OConnor, or Poulin.
I don’t want to see Zucker with Geno again. Zucker -Carter -Kappy is a good 3rd line. They should stay together.</div></div>
Or even Zohorna or Nylander on Geno’s left wing.

Really, I wish u guys the best. Hope u guys get whatever u need or whatever you are looking for back in return. Or resign him long term if that’s what u want instead.
I just hope GMJR doesn’t wait all the way to the deadline to trade him and his value is diminished.
He’s too good of a player not get a haul in return. If that happens, hopefully he’s able to work out an extension with the trade partner and Vancouver is able to get a haul in return.

JT Miller is a one year rental. Throw away the Pens Future for a one year rental. Kappy, Poulin, POJ and two 2nds. That’s crazy.
Even as good as Miller is and as great of a season he had last year. One year rentals just don’t bring back that kind of return. Unless he comes with an extension.
Let Vancouver keep him till the deadline. He’ll be lucky to bring back a late 1st and a prospect and a mid round pick then.
POJ is a future top pairing LHD. He plays 25 plus minutes a night in the AHL and plays in all situations; PP and PK. He’s 23 years old and NHL ready. And with Marino gone, POJ is the Pens future point on the PP.
Poulin is 6’3, 215 pounds, still just 21 years old; Tkuchuk lite. He’s a very good two-way player too. He’s not just a top 6 or bust. He can start out on the 3rd or 4th line and move his way up if he need be. He won’t have to though. But he could. He’s not like a Puustinen or Nic Robertson though that has to be a top 6 player or he’s a bust.
Poulin’s been a top 100 prospect in the NHL on any list u can find for the last 3 years. Same with POJ. Pens don’t have many good prospects but those two are. Poulin and POJ are A or A-prospects; B+ at worst.
These aren’t just my opinions either. Literally every top prospects list the last 3 years has both of them on it. Scouts, insiders, draft experts, etc.

And I’ll admit I’m sure you know the RedWings better than me if that’s your team. I do follow the NHL, the draft and prospects pretty closely though.
But again, if that’s your team, you definitely watch them more often and read more about them than I do. So u are probably right.
I can just see a world where Detroit upgrades their LHD. And Stevie Y’S been pretty active the last couple years. Pens didn’t need a RHD or LHD until they did..lol.
I wish the Nedeljkovic trade worked out better last season. I really thought that was a steal; and so did everyone else at the time.
I hate to say it but Husso seems like the same exact thing. A young goalie, same age, similar style, with one hot season.

Do people even look at others teams rosters when they do these?? Edmonton has no need for Dumo. As much as I’d loved Puljujarvi, Edmonton is more than ok at LHD. They are good at LHD for years actually.
And don’t pay attention to dude that thinks Kappy for Puljujarvi is fair. If they don’t know Puljujarvi’s value, upside and projection then it’s not worth your breath.
And I would trade Pettersson over Dumo. Dumo is on an expiring contract and him and Zucker are the Pens cap space next season. And Pettersson brings back a better return too.
But if all things were even, i’d keep Pettersson over Dumo right now. I think Dumo is still a more than useful D-man though and will have a bounce back/much better season; if he’s healthy. He was playing and fighting through injury last season.

Ya, I completely agree. But “when” Edvinsson is taking that spot. Stevie Y has said he doesn’t like playing rookies but he’s definitely shown difffernt. With Seider and Raymond.
But they really forced his hand too. I hope Edvinsson does too. That would be super fun to watch. Both him and Seider being so young.
I bet Stevie Y makes a move on defense still though. Whether that’s signing a UFA depth piece or making trade.
Maatta hasn’t averaged over 16 minutes a game for a season since 2019. 3 years running now he’s averaged 16 minutes per game or under.
That leaves a lot of LHD minutes for Chiarot who struggled when given big 1st line minutes and a 1st line role in Florida last season.

Severson and a 1st is plenty…and most likely NJ is still a lottery team. That 1st is probably gonna be high. I don’t know if they would even do that.
Palat on the 2nd Line looks a lot better, and that RHD is still tough. Even though I don’t think Nemac plays in the NHL until next season. But I’d be working on getting a goalie.
And trade Severson at the TD. And let Canucks keep Miller until the deadline too. They be lucky to get a late 1st and a prospect. Most likely a late 1st and a mid round pick.

I know Pettersson is a whipping boy on this site but he’s still just 26 year old, 6’3, long stick, long reach, moves the puck well (look at his assists every season), plays physical, has a good shot (he’s 6’3 so he better), has playoff experience, and has good analytics.

And Detroit rebuild seems to be just about over. Their signings this offseason proved that. I wouldn’t trust Maatta with 2nd pairing minutes anymore. But ok.
And Chiarot struggled with 1st pairing minutes and a 1st pairing role in Florida.
Larkin, Raymond and Seider seem like pieces to build around. And Hronek, Copp, and Bertuzzi are nice complimentary pieces(unless Bertuzzi gets dealt). With acouple more nice secondary pieces.
And waves of those prospects are gonna be coming through in a year or two.
You feel competitive this season with Maatta at 2nd pairing LHD??
