What Would A Perfetti-Barron Trade Look Like

My idea here is that Dvorak/Iafallo is a wash in value. I agree with what you're saying though, teams never do that

You’re asking too much for skinners dump and as mentioned earlier he won’t waive. He waived to go from CAR to BUF only because he has family there apparently.

I agree with your premise for the most part. Think 1 FA RD to at least bridge gap for when drafted D are ready to make the jump. Certainly doesn’t need to be Demelo

Trade Route
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>Agree to disagree, it depends on the cap dump you get. These are more like cap casualties. If these players were making 2-3m they would be completely different stories. They are still good enough to be 3rd liners, they are just significantly overpaid, but because of our cap situation we can afford it.
IF we can get really solid UFAs on 1-3 year deals I am all for it. I just don't know how realistic that actually is</div></div>
I agree with that. Granlund was technically a cap dump. there's some guys I'd definitely be interested in from teams that can't fit them, but Pageau, Mikheyev, and Schmidt aren't those guys.
I think for UFAs, Chatfield, DeMelo, Pesce, Roy, etc would be good targets for D-men (some more likely than others). Domi, Stephenson, Duchene, for forward tragets. We'll see what happens with Celebrini, but having him and Smith signed would really show free agents that it could be a good place to play and then get dealt to contender

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>this is realistically the right way, get some okay depth pieces who could bounce back, and some draft assets while we are at it.
Doesn't make sense to go out and overpay UFAs who will most likely regress before we start competing</div></div>
I disagree. Cap dumps are cap dumps for a reason. They're not playing well. that's not the type of player Grier should be bringing over.
You can overpay some really solid UFAs on 1-3 year deals and actually help the team play competitive hockey, then deal them for better assets than the one's you'd get for taking on a cap dump.

Montreal and Vancouver pass, these don't really come close to understanding why those teams would be interested in those players.
Hronek for Necas based deal makes much more sense, and leave the Habs out of it.

I say even if we do sign another RD, that resource is so depleted just try him out. If he doesn't work out he's gone in next off-season. We have the cap (which Grier says he's no going to break the bank with) and he's not expensive.

Well done and good description.
Only potential nit to pick is Dumba. He is a realistic signing for the Sharks. I included him in some of my ACGM's earlier and got feedback that he's washed up and no longer good on offense or defense.

Breaking Down Griers Rebuild
Doug Wilson took this team to FUBAR and left a veritable catastrophe for whoever inherited it. Grier had the hardest job in the NHL when he took over. I think he's done marvelous work. If absolutely nothing else he moved three contracts thought to be unmovable (Burns, Karlsson and Hertl) nevermind the return, which could always be better but it wasn't about that as much as it was clearing the way for a new team generation/iteration.
Gets a little luck with the lottery balls and the Sharks future is looking good for the first time in a very long time. I think he's done fantastic.

Was a clown when he was with the blues and then with Vegas he was just generally dirty, would get away with a lot and would flop all the time too.
He also plays like complete dust - ugliest stride I’ve ever seen, terrible rear sock tuck, tinted visor. And he isn’t really that great either lol. Just has a decent shot and scores most of his goals on the power play. I will admit my hatred is a bit irrational though lol.

Drastic Offseason - Competitive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>Being competitive doesn’t mean being a contender. It means not being a sub 20 win team with multiple disgusting losing streaks / 20-3 game scores haha.
Yeah I was thinking if it’s the one year routes maybe Tyler Myers for RD (no term needed and has upside as a TDL guy)
Hard to think of a good scoring winger for a 1 year deal tho for the Sharks.</div></div>
I think we could sign some vets to 3 year deals versus 1.
For 1 year deals I'd look at Okposo or Clutterbuck. Not scoring wingers but add leadership and toughness.
For a scoring veteran winger on a 1 year...Pavelski!
1 year veteran D I'd say Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
All those guys still chasing a cup, though.

Drastic Offseason - Competitive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RecycleShark</b></div><div>Carrier and Pageau are good additions.
Marchessault might be hard to get for SJ, but you offerred him a lot.
The Sharks need to get bigger and the three guys you added (Pageau, Carrier, Marchessault) are all small.
The biggest guy on the 3rd line is 5'10", 180 lbs. Might want to remix the lines to break those three up. However that probably means either Gush or Bords to the 4th line which doesn't seem right.
Be interested to see if Seattle would do that. I agree that the Sharks should trade up if they can.</div></div>
Carrier plays hard but more importantly plays a good game, and Pageau plays a gritty hard game - and is very defensively responsible. Both bring compete and work ethic. They would help build a culture which is why I value them - with Pageau being an experienced vet.
March also plays very hard and brings a winner’s mentality and he won’t settle for mediocrity.
I think all these are equal to if not more important than being 6’3. I agree we do need some size but it’s hard to be against these 3 imo.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>Yeah, probably similar to what we do, try to get to a threshold of say 27-30 wins.
Sell at the deadline again, draft a defenseman top 5 next year and keep buding</div></div>
I’m slowly becoming Dickinson-Silayev-Buium-Parekh (I want all 4 lmao).
I’m starting to include those two because there’s just so many positives with the other two that I would be happy if Grier targets them w/ the two OFD.
