Not real just having fun
I love crosby…obviously. But I don’t think that’s the right move for Habs going forward. That is 3 very good futures for maybe 2-3 years of Crosby, at best.

Draft possible moves
Easy yes for habs.
KJ is my guy and he’s be the guy I target if I were Hughes. Yes. Before Zegras.
I’d do the Winnipeg and Calgary 1st round picks along with a player like Beck. Something like that….
Might not be enough but that’s what I would feel comfortable parting with if I’m the habs.

Easy no from habs. Anderson has 3 years after this.
We don’t really need cap space next year with all the young players on the team. I’d rather keep him and maybe he finds his groove again.

Next years turn around
No way that Colorado deal happens. Norris is a good player but there are so many questions on his health long term and he’s a a long contract. Because of that, I don’t think any team will feel comfortable trading for him
It sucks. He’s a great player but seems like the shoulder is a recurring problem…..

askarov cost
Apparently last year a the draft, Nashville offered Montreal Askarov + 15th for 5th overall.
It might have actually been the 24th overall and not the 15th but something like that was offered
If it was the 24th, I can see why Montreal turned it down. For the 15th and askarov, I would have taken it

Why Stamkos is a realistic option for the free agency
I would love to sign stamkos to that type of deal. Not sure if it’ll happen but I’d love for our young core to be around stammer!
Would have no problem even giving him 8.5 for 3-4 years
Without including our 2024 draft pick that will likely be a forward, I’d roll with this next year .
Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Stamkos - Dach - Roy
Newhook - Beck - Anderson
Will be great when Armia, Dvorak, Pearson are no longer on the team. Just spare parts at this point for us and they take up roster spots

Is rather get the pick here and use it to flip at deadline in 2026 for some help . We will be close to playoff contention and could use the extra draft capital. We have enough prospects

Damn. Fair point though…I think Tampa could do something like this though to weaponize the cap space. Maybe not RyJo though

Fair, but I don’t think it’s so far offf. We have made quite a few second round picks in recent years and have 4 1sts in next 2 years. I don’t mind taking a later 2nd round pick in 2026 which we could use at the deadline during that season to bolster our lineup for the year. In 2 years, we are likely in the playoffs so we will need some draft capital then. Thinking of future

No it doesn’t have the value of a 1st. You can’t just put 3 pieces together that have the value of 2nd or 3rd round picks individually and say it equals a 1st

Not even close to enough for Laughton.
Niemela really doesn’t have that much value. Good prospect, NHL potential but he doesn’t move the needle at all.
For Laughton, you’d need to include a 1st.

I think it’s time to be more aggressive
Draft Demidov and trade for Johnson and the top 6 is set
Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Johnson - Dach - Demidov
Newhook - Beck - Roy

I’d rather package that 1st up with more and trade for Kent Johnson.
WIN 1st + CGY 1st + Mesar + Barron for Johnson

Something a little different weel maybe
I can see Colorado doing this if Habs retained half of Allen
It would free up 2M roughly in space for them this year and next and give them a good backup goalie.
Likely worthy of the 2nd round for 4th round swap.
They could then get Henrique without having to ask Anaheim to retain anything.

Savard is not a 5-6. He’s a 4.
3rd most in blocks per 60. Logs a ton of ice time.
Kills penalties. Has won before.
3.5M for that is not bad. It’s not a bargain but it certainly not bad. Who could you sign in the summer for 3.5M on a 1 year deal that’s better than that

Habs Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Benzino204</b></div><div>Savard has a bad contract, with another year on it, and the Jets don't have the cap space.</div></div>
There are only 3 defensemen in whole league who are on a UFA contract who play more than Savard (TOI per game)
He’s 3rd in whole league in blocks per 60.
I’m not saying he will get a 1st round pick or that he’s this amazing player. But his contract is not bad for what he brings.
I could see a team sending a 2nd round pick for him. Would likely be a pick around 45-60. Acquiring team gets 2 playoff runs.
