I mean I agree in theory about unloading Hoffman but I’m very much against doing so if it costs us something. I’d rather just let another year run off his contract and then there is only one year left, and it’s much easier to trade especially with retention.

If you can give him away for free, sure, but it makes no sense attaching picks to him. He’s only got 2 years left, we won’t be competitive and there are other ways to unload space if you really need it.

Ok I thought you were adding 2nd round picks from Montreal to the other teams to get rid of Hoffman which would make no sense. I see now you are trading in return for a 2nd. I guess tha makes more sense but unlikely that Hoffman gets a 2nd. Drouin I can see getting a 2nd

Yes cap space is important but some make way way way to big of deal about it especially when they could just let a contract run out

Montreal will be better than last year but it seems like all teams in the east that wer bad got significantly better

Ottawa, Buffalo, NJ, Columbus…all improved

The only one who didn’t was Philadelphia.

In the west, it’s really only Chicago, Seattle and Arizona.
