Organ Doners
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Hey. You know what? It's cool. I'm just saying one of the players in this trade plays against Mathews, McDavid, Crosby on a nightly basis and looks good doing it and the other plays in College in a weak division.
You think the College player is better than the NHL player who is shutting down Mathews as a 20 year old playing on arguably the worst defensive team in the league and on his off side. That's your perogative sir. Far be it for me to tell you you are wrong. Time will do that well enough.</div></div>
Habs fans are amazing, you do realise that simply playing against players doesnt mean anything if that player is getting destroyed every single time right? You do realize that him playing 20 mins a night is a massive reason why the Habs are arguably the worst defensive team in the league right?
If that's how you judge a defender than Holl must be a perennial all star and future hall of famer because he actually gets good defensive results against elite players.

A number one defenseman at 20 years old with 27 games TOTAL experience?
And I'm the hilarious one.

Personally, I'll take the 6'5 RHD who got Conn Smythe votes while playing 25+ minutes per night enroute to the cup. Might have more to do with team structure but you always bet on talented, proven players</div></div>
Trading for who players were vs who they are and will be for 8 years, are completely different things.

think that's fair and as most Blues and Leafs fans probably know by now, I'm a huge advocate for ROR to TOR.

TDL sure
at this point how outlandish is it to say the leafs are giving the two most valuable assets in the EDM deal? its a stretch but not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Kerfoot is no doubt the best player in the deal though. With the way the teams playing, we're not in the market for an in-season downgrade
also waaaayyyyy to much for Labanc
also simmonds cleared waivers and does have one element that we don't really have (his play sucks but if we really needed that type of player why not have him available). not saying he should be playing but why not keep the option at this point

Final piece is ROR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klaw2</b></div><div>I agree on the ROR trade. Think hes the PERFECT deadline add. I would also venture to say, if he is willing to take a hometown discount at around 6.5x4/5 years, thats basically replacing Muzzin's caphit. That would be phenomenal.</div></div>
Muzzin's cap hit is already being partially used, and that's 900k more. Would probably result in losing a couple of guys including Bunting and Kampf.

Ridiculous, Marner is a top 10 player in the league. Peterson in top 50, May crack top 25 one day.
Not even close :tearsofjoy :tearsofjoy :tearsofjoy
Canucks can keep the younger cheaper player and enjoy draft lotteries :squinty

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>I mean sure if you want to completely disregard QoC then yeah Liljegren is probably playing better in this 25 game sample size. I like Liljegren but he's still got a long way to go in terms defensive play when comparing to Parayko</div></div>
But it a terrible value swap for the Leafs....it's not even close. You could trade ANY player on any team and trade them for a better player. (with the exception of McDavid)
Even if Parayko is better than Liljegren now, will he be next year? And it's there still is 5.3m cap difference too.

Yes, I did. But his site is "CapFriendly". My opinion Liljegren provides much value now...especially at 1.4m, then 29 year old Parayko for almost eight years. Even this year, which player is playing the best? No reason to think that it's not Liljegren.

Small Moves Big Goals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DrDinkiee</b></div><div>Not sure if 5 different players on the roster is small moves.</div></div>
And now sure how any of these moves help. PJ has been bad for the Oilers this year, Leafs don't do that trade. Not sure if even Hathaway helps, after all the Leafs still have Simmons.
That's way too much to give up for a 3rd liner centre on the Leafs and a 7th Dman. Horvat and Schenn
Yeah the Leafs would be better this year with the addition of Horvat, but hardly worth a years worth draft picks, and Niemela and Hirovan.

retaining the equivalent of a league min contract is a small price to pay for dumping that contract, much less to acquire the assets in this ACGM (which Dubas would NEVER give up for this)

how are we even sure GMs had real interest? I know it was reported that some inquired but we have no idea what they were actually offering, could have been late round pick and Habs decided against it. No trade went down. Just because teams had interest doesn't mean he has some crazy high value. Leafs had *interest* in Mat Murray and still got paid to take him, just as an example.

Teams may have had interest, but I find it very hard to believe that anyone was willing to pony up any significant assets<strong> because if so he would already be dealt. </strong>Teams either were asking for 50% retention or offering next to nothing, there's no other way Hughes doesn't make a deal
also sure resort to bashing the Leafs instead of the actual issue under debate, the Leafs 1st round exits have no bearing on the very little, if not negative value Anderson holds.</div></div>
But i was told that Anderson for #2 overall was a certainty!
