Setting up the D
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maj</b></div><div>how do you know that ? Please share your source for making the judgment</div></div>
My source is my scouting and watching games of those certain players during different ages and in different tournaments and leagues. With Borgman its easier since Brickley is same age as Borgman so we can compare easier. Borgman was playing NHL at 22yrs old and was really good with relatively bad D partner (Polak). Had really good transition numbers and was really good. He won rookie of the year in SHL (which is only won by great players!) and had fantastic seasons for young up and coming defenceman before making transition to NA. Should be in Leafs in lineup to start the season for absolute sure. Is good defensively, can create offence and he is that player who would fit more in NHL than AHL. Borgman is also better skater and transitional player than Brickley, Brickley might be better in some parts of the game but overall Borgman is better. Brickley was playing NCAA, had really good college career but transition to pro hockey did not go as well as it was imagined in his case. I dont know the numbers for his NHL games he played but I saw two of them and he did not look as good imo. Borgman >>> Brickley.
As for Hollowell. He is 20 and you cant really compare the two. Hollowell is offence-driving playmaking Dman like Torey Krug for example. He is amazing skater and really well-rounded Dman who is not as good defensively as Brickley but Brickley lacks offensively and Hollowell excells in creating offence from his own zone and in transition. Brickley can create some, but he is more defensive defenceman. In terms of development Brickley is further because he is 4yrs older but in terms overall talent and ceiling, Mac tops him.
You can agree or disagree with me, that is my opinion and my few years of watching them.

But the possibilities are endless with more variables than we can imagine. Change those 3 picks and remove every player that Boston has drafted, signed or acquired because who knows if they'd still be here.

Predicted lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Loops</b></div><div>Mikheyev is the Russian Hyman with a better set of hands. He's the type of player Babs loves and the type of player the Matthews line needs. Both Wily and Matthews need the puck so why not get them a grinder to get them the puck. Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapenen will make for a great third line and will help the Leafs matchup vs most teams.</div></div>
Agreed - Johnsson may start the year with Matthews though until Mikheyev gets in some games. But once everyone is healthy, I agree with our lines.
On the 4th line, I'm not sure you see Petan much, Babs doesn't trust him. Marchment might be up this year playing the left wing

-got rid of two bad contracts
-Improved Defence right side
-Traded two prospects, one was average, Rosen was not trusted by babcock
-Had a really good draft
-colorado retained on barrie
-got kerfoot back somehow
Still has borgman, sandin, robertson, liljegren as D prospects
Good Fwd prospect group too

Kapanen is a shooter and Kerfoot is a playmaker. Once Hyman is back, I'd like to see a Johnsson, Kerfoot, Kapanen 3rd line. That would be a matchup nightmare against other 3rd lines.
Mekheyev is a big guy who isn't afraid to crash the net, that sort of player is needed for the Matthews line, Nylander can be the setup guy, Matthews the shooter and a big guy to pound home rebounds and make space.
Also Kap is a RW not LW.

My Actual Prediction
The only thing I'd change is Mikheyev with Johnsson, I'd rather see a bigger body that can crash the net play with Matthews. Matthews is a shooter who creates a tonne of rebounds and Johnsson just doesn't get to the net enough to capitalize on that. On the flip side, Kerfoot is an excellent playmaker and giving him a pair of shooters in Kap and Johnsson, both with speed, will be a very good 3rd line option to send out against other 3rd lines.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Loops</b></div><div>I don't believe he'll merge in Toronto either but he could slot on a handful of teams as the 2-3 RW and added powerplay time. He does have holes in his games but a lot of people who trade him in ARMCHAIR overlook that for whatever. I think he's good trade bait just not AS good as some people claim.
Me personally, I'm a fan of a Power Forward style of game. I'm excited to see how Yegor Korshkov game translates to North America.</div></div>
The other Russian is the one that intrigues me more, he killed penalties in the KHL and was a better scorer. I think he could be a good addition to the Matthews line, someone who has the size to crash the net and create space for Matthews and Nylander to dummy everyone else. If Matthews gets a full season in next year, he should score 60 and could end up with 60 assists if he had a winger who could crash the net and bat home rebounds. He didn't have that at all last year.

I disagree, after these 7/8 60 pt RFA wingers all sign at 8 AAV Nylander becomes a steal, Nylander is a better player than Kadri and will always be better. Nylander is the only player the Leafs have that routinely exits the D zone and enters the O zone with the puck efficiently

He's in A grade prospect on a team already full of top end RW's. A lot of rebuilding teams or cap challenged teams would love to acquire a kid of Bracco's age and talents.
Do half the people utilize him properly in trades....not likely however he often comes up due to the depth we have at RW.</div></div>
I don't disagree with you in the fact that some teams would like to have him. And yes the utilization in trades has been foolish.

I find it so strange how Oilers fans love Larsson so much, you'd think he'd be hated since the Hall for Larsson trade will go down as one of the worst ever.
Larsson is not that good, he never was that good and never will be that good. He's a second pair defenceman, not a future norris candidate.

Well unless you're saying it's going to take more than 14m a year to resign Josi, I have no idea what kind of math you are doing.
Granlund - 5.75m
Smith - 4.25m
Josi - 4m
They could let Granlund walk and probably resign Smith for less than 4.25 a year. Josi 10m, Smith 3.5. Tight but very possible
