Trading a proven 60 point player who’s only 22 for a prospect RHD isn’t a smart move for Anaheim.

Especially this year, they’re really showing signs of life and trade trade a young superstar in Zegras for futures just isn’t the right idea.

You’re right the value may be there, but the Ducks absolutely shouldn’t do this.

If Jiricek was already 21-22 and was already a proven top RHD I’d say sure; but there’s still a lot to be seen with him.

Jacob Markstrom - 33 years old: 6 mil for another 2 years after this season. .905 sv% and 2.72 GAA.

John Gibson - 30 years old: 6.4 mil for another 3 years after this season. 927 sv% and 2.19 GAA.

Gibson isn’t going to waive for a team about to rebuild, especially a Canadian team. Ducks aren’t going to take on Markstrom especially with Gibson and Dostal both playing very good this season.

Rasmus Andersson is a true 1 RHD. But that’ll be a hefty cost that I don’t think the Ducks should inquire
