Rossi and Guhle Revisited
I get that MTL is dumping Anderson in the process, but they have a much bigger need for Guhle & the 5th OA than for Brodin & Rossi.

Rossi and Guhle Revisited
That's not happening, sorry. Guhle is worth a decent bit more than the difference between Anderson and Brodin, and I don't really think MTL would be too interested in moving down that much, even if it is to get Rossi (although it wouldn't be impossible)

We are set in goals. Montembeault and Primeau are a good duo and we have Dobes, Fowler and Volhokin who were all very good this year

MTL rejected 15th, 24th, and Askarov for Reinbacher, pretty sure as hell they aren't going to trade Reinbacher and Roy for Saros, who is definitely worth a lot less than Askarov

Even with an extension MTL wouldn’t consider, and for the OP MTL didn’t want Askarov ++ for Reinbacher

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LumberJacques</b></div><div>I can see what you mean but then again it's not impossible that things can be turned around pretty quick. Kucherov, Point and Hagel still have a few good years in them and Vasi can always go beast mode at some point in the future. Plus it's not like Tampa would have trouble attracting free agents if they cleared a bit more cap.</div></div>
yea but there lies the same problem with gm, he'll probably make the mistake of resigning stamkos instead of defense

That Guhle/Perfetti proposal is one of those deals where both fan bases say NO because they think their player is worth more than the other.
The deal almost makes sense. I just can’t see who plays 25ish min/g on the first pairing with Matheson if we deal Guhle.

Guhle impact aren’t quantifiable with stats. He ain’t being move because you need this kind of defenseman to win. Guhle is a horse who can shutdown top opponents. Guhle will play 22-25 min a night. Perfetti will get 17-19 if he reach full potential. Guhle impact the game in much more aspect than Perfetti who absolutely need to put point if he want to stay in the line up. Perfetti skating is still a issue. We have Joshua Roy who is a very similar player. Both have high hockey IQ but they are both not fast skater. I love Perfetti since is OHL debut but top pairing defenseman are so hard to found you don’t trade them.

Edmonton
Colorado
Dallas

So the five teams with the least amount of cap space?

Monahan realistic value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LumberJacques</b></div><div>If you don't like the asking price for Monahan then why don't you just find another player to acquire instead of debating what you believe he's actually worth ?
MTL will have a high asking price for this player because he will be in high demand. It's fine if you don't want to pay that price, just move on to another option.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>This. Context is lost on the loudest here.
Trying to explain to doubters that Monahan is worth a 1st is the same mundane task as explaining the merits of Ben Chiarot and the marketplace opportunity. It's an open market with 31 other teams bidding.
You think he aint worth it, fine, but deal with it because other teams want a low cost AAV, w/o trade protection center that wins draws and can cary a line to the tune of a 50 point pace.
He's been carrying Gallagher and Evans, two 4th liners yet produces. Teams see that and want that kind of depth not to mention that same depth carried Vegas to a Stanley Cup.
I'm sure if another <strong> UFA in William Carrier form Vegas was available he'd go for a 1st</strong> yet he has less than half of Monahan's point totals.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>So Jeanot by those logic is a top 6 player?! Where’s the value for the Habs in that trade?
Here take our 3rd goalie and a player we don’t want or have room for and give us some stability in net/perfect mentor for our young guys and a veteran C on a low AAV

I mean it’s 30 games into an 8 year deal and is looking like it will probably be the worst contract offered so far in the cap-era, so probably. Three years of saving $4 million with Anderson and five years with 9-9.5 more to work with after that. A million or so in dead cap would be worth that to me.

Theories
1. team is young, some players had career years last year, KA didn't do much to improve the team, NHL has a book on some of our players
2. you can't have a nice coach and a nice captain someone in leadership has to have an edge.
3. I don't like this one- they are trying to get the coach fired
