Its Okay When Its In a 3-Way
I appreciate the thought and effort into this but good god this is terrible for Vegas. Were not giving up Whitecloud, a RHD thats under 25 and locked up for the next 6 years under 3 million. IF were trading another RHD prospect in Korczak it better be for more than a rental year of McCann. Kerfoot is meh to me and the only asset that is under contract for next year. Hague alone could easily fetch more.
so VGK Trades a full middle six line in Smith-Janmark-Dadanov, then throws in an extra winger in Carrier. But thats not all, then we proceed to trade 3 defensemen, all under the age of 25 in Hague, Whitecloud and Korczak?!
I understand were up against the cap, but were not trading 1/2 a roster of good players for this lol

Something I try to convince my girlfriend daily.
Sadly I think Vegas will have the same answer that my girlfriend does. "Not a chance in hell."

I'll say you obviously put some real thought and effort into this, whether or not this is realistic is irrelevant, good job putting it together, well thought out and I appreciated the read.

Vegas kind of did this to themselves, they certainly have a lot of cap to move out to fit Eichel, and it's about time Vegas gets the raw end of a deal.

Leafs still need a goalie Chicago
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>No way! Leafs can get much better value for Kapanen at the draft. Besides, you can't pin this on Freddy, who stood on his head, sometimes practically literally, for the majority of the first half of the year. If you are going to blame anyone, you can blame the PK, who has been dismal. Better yet, you can blame the PP. I am not sure if you watched, but that 2-man advantage was an epic disaster. If you want to even place more blame, you can throw some shade at Martin Marincin, or perhaps the coach who slotted him into the lineup, or perhaps, even more so, the GM who has done an incredibly poor job at building this team up to CONSISTENTLY contend. A lot of blame can be passed around, but this is in no way totally Freddy's fault. With better defense in front of him, and better special teams, the Leafs could be winning more often.</div></div>
Yep. A complete lack of attention to detail by the D and forwards. I'm not saying Andersen is world beater, far from it...but going strictly by the numbers is just asinine.
I was at the Buffalo game and saw first hand what I've been watching on t.v. for the last 20-ish games. The D and forwards have to take some pride when defending.
Play with abit of heart...play like you give a ****.

Toronto I have a question
Petan made a nice play to assist on Spezzas goal and then later on Spezza makes a pass into Petan's feet and he turns it over which lead to that Pens goal, story of Petan's career unfortunately.
I think the Leafs current problems go far beyond
Nic Petan or their backup goaltender though.

If Ottawa will be open to it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>It is my understanding that it is a NTC, not a NMC, meaning that waiver process/mechanic would still work for someone 35+ in it's normal fashion. So if the Leafs waived Spezza, I believe that any team could put a claim in for him and he would have to accept that assignment. If that player refused to assignment, his contract would be terminated, and the team that waived would suffer the entire hit of that AAV for the seasons remaining on the deal. So, in the case of Patrick Marleau. Say he was waived, but he either did want to accept the assignment to the Marlies, or did not want to go a team that put in a waiver claim, his contract could get terminated, but the Leafs would be hit with his entire AAV for the years remaining on his deal, so something like $6.25 million against the cap.
That is at least how I understand the process to work with 35+ players.</div></div>
Thanks for the insight

Mikheyev, Kerfoot, and Kapanen and maybe the best 3rd line in the league.

Mathews Should Be As Good As Gone
I think this is a now vs the future kind of deal. Personally, I think the Leafs would come out on top with this trade for the next 2-3 years. I'd say the leafs would be a better more well-rounded team with Tavares and ROR down the middle with Parayko on D than with Matthews now...and Ceci lol But a few years down the road when ROR's style of play and age catches up to him, the Blues will be the obvious winners with a Matthews still in his prime.

I dont care
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>A point of contention before I applaud your creativity on this deal. As long as Marc Bergevin remains GM, I don't think Shea Weber is getting dealt. That said, when I read the "I Don't Care" title of your AGM, I was curious as to what a Habs fan (I am assuming you are a Habs fan) could possibly come up with such an attitude towards whatever deal it was. It's actually a pretty creative, or at least, unique idea. At first, I was ready to just shoot you a reply saying there is no way the Sharks would refuse this deal, but then you look at the numbers and such and the ages of the players involved and it's gets a little bit more interesting. Still, all things considered, I think at least short-term, the Sharks win this deal. Do the numbers for cap stuff even work? I didn't bother trying to figure it out. Well done on the creativity though.</div></div>
Thank you man! The title was just meant to show that i'm aware that it may be fair but it is almost impossible

change of scenery
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>I think a lot of people, particularly Leafs fans, don't get the core problem. It is not JUST hitting (ie appearing like the Leafs play soft), it is the style of play and system that they are trying to follow. So, I ask that you all consider this, if the roster doesn't change over the course of the year, or year to year next season, could the Leafs do better in a different system, implementing a different style of play? I would certainly answer yes, and that tells me, a simple (or not so simple) coaching change, but seriously improve an overall team record and general permission even if the Leafs don't score nearly as much under a new system.
So, with respect to your proposed deal. I do not think that, as is, Michael Ferland would excel under Mike Babcock. To hopefully illustrate my point, let me provide you with an example. I think we can all agree that under Bill Peters, with what the Flames were all about last season, a very similar style to the Leafs, James Neal did not succeed. Neal gets traded and Edmonton finds a new, much more conservative coach, and look to Neal now. Maybe it's more of a coach not playing to an individual player's strength, if that strength runs counter-intuitive to how a coach wants the team, as a whole to play.
My overall point is, there are a lot of people around here creating AGMs that see the Leafs acquire more physical players. That's great, in theory, but I don't think much would change. There needs to be more signififcant change, and you can't trade a third, or half of your team.
That is why I believe Sheldon Keefe taking over is basically a certainty at this point. This run-and-gone offense, that causes way too many turnovers, and especially from some of their superstar players, with lackluster defensive zone play and coverage, will not cut it against playoff-caliber teams.</div></div>
Spot on, MG.

Future with Marner
so when you OS Marner at 12.5;
Barzal is gonna take 8.5?
Pulock is taking just $5.5?
Boychuck is gonna waive for Ottawa?
so to adchieve this you need to trade Leddy/Boychuck (or Bailey) for pennies on the $ as everyone knows your in a cap crunch
Barzal and Pulock both need to take home town discounts
trade 4 1st rd picks
....... and have Marner sign the deal.........and the leafs not match
easy peasy

Getting Marner now comes the cap juggling
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>In general, die hard fans are not logical, they wear their hearts on their sleeves and bleed the colours of their beloved teams. So, I can totally understand Isles fans feeling betrayed, as I would expected any real fan of any team that just lost an important and integral player. Yes, very cheesy, but I guess that's Leaf fans for you. It was even cheesier what our major "proclaimed" as a result of what he faced playing in New York. If I may suggest something, I believe it was Bill Simmons that wrote an amazing article about the rules for being true fans. I forget exactly what it's called, but if you can find it, it's a very good, very funny read and a lot of it is very reasonable as well.</div></div>
