If Hertl has that much value then I'm not trading Eklund in the same deal. It would be one or the other.

Hertl Meier Rielly
That trade is definitely not gonna get it done for Hertl AND Meier. For both of those guys the Sharks are gonna want Lundkqvist or Kravstov in the package. Side note: Why are the leafs getting a better package for Reilly than the Sharks are for their 2 best players?

Next Step Forward
I would think there needs to be another piece instead of Georgiev. The Sharks already paid a decent price for Adin Hill, so I don't they'd be interested in another young goalie. I'd say they would need to add another prospect has similar/slightly less value than Jones, or replace Jones with a prospect who has higher value than him.

Eklund is most likely going to make the Sharks roster, so I'd put him on there. Jonathan Dahlen might have a chance too since he has more experience than a lot of these guys and will probably play on the top 6.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsFan35</b></div><div>Thank you very much. The problem with Miroshnichenko is his lack of consistency. I hate this about a player and dock them MAJOR points when writing up my evaluations. And he still has a top 5 blend of size, skill, and speed that scouts (including myself) go crazy for. But in a class this strong, where he’s competing for spots against other top end guys like himself, the higher spot goes to the guy who put in the same level of compete each time I watched him. I’d be ecstatic if Boston landed him on draft day this year, as he’s an A prospect if there ever was one. But I hope my explanation makes sense.</div></div>
Miroshnichenko at 17 may be controversial, but at least your reasoning makes more sense than Craig Button ranking Nemec at 15.

Yep, I've been saying it's gonna take a top 3 prospect from their prospect pool and a 1st to get the conversation started.

An Actual Eichel Package
If the Sharks want Eichel they'd be making a serious push to be relevant again, so it's probably not the best idea to trade a top 6 winger for him, it would probably have to be a prospect/pick only package. They would obviously ask for Eklund, but maybe they could settle on 2 or 3 of Merkley, Wiesblatt, Robins and Bordeleau (or all of them), a cap dump like Simek, and a couple of high picks.

Might be a bit too much term, but it'll be completely worth it if he breaks the all-time goal record in that time, and it means even more if he does it in a caps jersey.

If the Sharks trade Hertl it's a sign they're opting for a full rebuild. At that point there's no reason for them to dump salary, or water down the return of a Hertl trade.

(ARI/VAN) - Ekman-Larsson, Garland for Beagle, Eriksson, Roussel, 1st, 2nd, 7th
this deal looks absolutely nuts on the surface but it might actually be the most balanced one we've seen this offseason. OEL's contract is very close (if it isn't already) to being in negative value territory, so AZ is taking on similar money with the cap dumps but with less term. On Vancouver's side, you're getting a young top 6 forward in Garland, and the hope the OEL can find some of his old game, and giving up the 9th pick is reasonable for that package. Solid deal for both sides
Side note: When was the last time the NHL offseason was this exciting?

Sedins take the throttle
It's very interesting to see how teams are valuing this draft class. With Vancouver trading the 9th overall pick and Philly trading the 13th pick it's clear to see that teams would much rather spend this years pick on a proven player than what they could get in the draft.

You're thinking about it all wrong. Eichel and Reinhart are actually good, and NHL GMs are only interested in trading a king's ransom for bad players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Clarke, Eklund or Guenther whichever drops to 7.</div></div>
I was about to say it depends on who is there for the Sharks to pick, and if one of those guys are available I'd be reluctant to trade down. Maybe if Guenther was our only option at that pick I'd make the deal, but if it's Eklund or Clarke I'm taking one of them.
