<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTrades</b></div><div>It's unfortunate that they had to trade Quick but honestly, they should have traded him sooner. They chose him over Petersen at the beginning of the year out of respect for the player. Now he still hasn't been playing great and if the team has any chance, they need someone reliable. With the west wide open and the Kings having a solid team. Their hand was forced. This is about on-ice play and nothing else</div></div>
I see your perspective but this doesn’t make them cup contenders. I also think the risk involved in bringing in rentals with no assurance of signing them. If they sign Korpisalo, that makes the goalie situation next year more convoluted. I’m going to try to see this in the best light, but it’s not easy.

I don’t mind the valuation of Grans for Harris, but after that debacle of a trade last night with Columbus, there’s no roster space for him. They would have to move someone to make this work when they can just let Grans remain in Ontario for another year. I would have preferred this sometime before yesterday.

We did Quick Dirty
I hate this deal. It feels like Blake hit the panic button when he didn’t need to. There must be something else that’s going to follow. I just know Quick is going to get moved to a team like Vegas and then he shuts us down in the playoffs.
We shouldn’t be trading for rentals anyway since this doesn’t make us cup contenders. I give this trade a grade of D. Short term help at the expense of a first rounder with no assurance either will remain. They also have 2 goalies signed for next year meaning that if Korpisalo gets signed, we’re probably committed to dumping Petersen’s contract.

I’m very much against the Petersen trades. His value will never be lower than it is now. If they trade him when they’re not cap strapped, that’s bad asset management. Goalies are also very difficult to speculate about too far in the future. If Hart struggles right after a trade, we’re right back where we started.
I might be good with the Klingberg trade if he was left handed.

Cheapo Canucks - Selling Everything to Line Aquas Pockets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Dude is in the ahl with a 15 mil contract fir a career ahler and an worn out old guy (and rightfully so).
He is a huge cap dump lmao
Yeah if you look at the little blurb I do say Demko+ is a summer trade. Specifically after July 1st bonuses are paid. That one is a tough trade to gauge value wise and really it could go either way. I personally wouldn't touch OEL with a 10 foot pole, but they do have some needs that get filled (probably filled well in demkos case) and at a cheap cost while dumping 15 mil. An underrated issue with it is that OEL will be double retained, meaning he can never cost less than 6aav on the cap if LA moved him again. As I said in the explainer finding any fits for a lot of these contracts is extremely hard and in a lot of cases you'll get a ehhhh reaction to it because the poison pill is just so potent. A truly remarkable statement on the Canucks mismanagement.
When it comes to bad players being good in easier mins, I just don't see it. Sometimes it happens but the norm is that they just stay bad. Heck some people were even saying being in VAN would help his #s for the same reason at the time of the trade thanks to Quinn! It's not a 56M bet I'd make for sure
In terms of cap, most of these trades are off season of some sort, so yes the cap isn't perfect but you will have signifigantly more room to work. The in season trades (Specifically the NYI one) is 250k different. That was something I was keeping some eye on, but for so many of these they will to some extent affect team building in a non-inconsequential way for all involved.
Garland is based on rumours. It's damn near confirmed thanks to VANs leakyness that they can't give him away at 4.95 and that they are seriously considering a buyout. Since I'm spending so many assets to be rid of worse deals, and his buyout isn't crippling, it's a bullet worth biting I think.
As an aside, I quite like Garland and would hope the Leafs make an offer if he does get bought out, or even a retention trade before Friday.
The Islanders have backed themselves into a corner, and your only options are to throw in the towel or double down. The horvat trade signals the latter and getting your pick back and adding a good player (he is still good, not 8x8 until mid 30s good but that's what it is) is probably one of the better ways to double down both in upside and risk management - although it really is a 'best of a bad bunch' option like most of the trades here.</div></div>
I can’t believe you honestly think this trade has any chance of happening. Rob Blake would never do this deal. It contradicts the rebuild they went through to tie up a bunch of cap for 5 years when they have to have space to resign the youth movement we drafted. That should resonate with you. Vancouver had to trade Horvat for the same reasons - bad contracts. We’ll learn from your mistakes. No way.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Ehh, I'm not certain Canadian hockey markets really work like that. Remember that this is just a set up for the off season to build into a fringe playoff team. If they're able to do that, fans will show. Besides, Bedard/Fantili will be a huge draw
I mean in 2 summers I don't think UFA is the real concern there</div></div>
It is if LA has a shot at Matthews. Even if it’s a long shot they have to be prepared to have the cap flexibility. That cap hit and term pretty much thwarts that plan. Again, LA passes. OEL isn’t what he once was and his age doesn’t fit with the Kings’ youth movement.

If LA did this deal they would most likely be out on the significant free agents in 2 summers. Pass on OEL.

I don’t know why Edmundsen gets linked with LA. He’s not the right fit. If the idea is to take some games from Edler as a rotational 3LD, they wouldn’t pay a 1st or 2nd for that.

It would take at least a 2nd to get LA to bite on this. They’re not desperate to change the chemistry they have and would only do it if they’re getting good value for him. I think I would do this and then plug in Spence on 3RD.

LA doesn’t need Holl. We need an LD that can pair with Roy, can play offense and maybe clear the front of the net. From what I’ve seen of Holl lately, he doesn’t check any of those boxes.

Theoretically if Petersen is that bad, why would you want him for 2+ years? Thankfully he’s not that bad and LA would never trade him at that valuation.

LA comes back with a final offer of Walker and a 2023 third for Orlov. We probably wouldn’t resign him unless we can’t bring back Edler.
I think the benefit LA gets in trading away Walker for Orlov at this point in their careers may not be that impactful given that Walker’s play lately has been good in his role. You could probably get more, but not from LA.

I’m fine with Cal, and I think he’ll right the ship at the NHL level. His upside is too high to make a deal like this.

So what does it take for MTL to grab Durzi?
I know you guys got a log jam on RD with Spence and Grans in AHL in your system but in ours both would likely be NHL.
But your LD if im not mistaken is no where near as deep.
Struble turns pro in 2 months or less after his NCAA playoffs.
He's Physically ready and defensively sound but offensively isnt NHL level and might net 8-10 points in a full season as is.
The timing might work better?
Let me Know</div></div>
I think the players that make the most sense to LA are Guehle or Xhekaj. We certainly have the right pieces to add with Durzi to get the valuation right, but I doubt Montreal would consider that.

Hutson for Durzi
I give credit to this AGM from an LA perspective and say this is fairly close valuation. While I think Hutson looks like a lite version of Josi as it relates to his offensive abilities, it would be too much of a risk to part with Durzi who continues to improve, even on his off side at the NHL level. Hutson could be amazing or he could be what LA fans saw with Linden Vey who just didn’t work out at the NHL level. (different position, but his promise was high and on the same trajectory). I also think it makes the size issue more glaring where we can’t clear people out in front of the net. That’s been more of a concern to me than the goaltending. Also no Kings fan I know is giving up on Turcotte. I think he’s projecting at a low to being just like Lizotte and on the high end like O’Reilly. They have another year to see how he fits. I think he’ll beat someone out for a job next season. I like trades like this when at least they look fair and see things from both teams’ perspectives.

Once Gavrikov goes to Boston I have to think that puts greater pressure on Arizona. They’ve gone all in by sitting Chychrun and I think his NTC kicks in soon. LA doesn’t need to trade out of desperation. Blake knows he can make a minor deal if this falls through and the fans will be good with it. Better to make no deal than Kuemper 2.0.

Would this offer for Chychrun still be on the table from the Kings
Vilardi is too good to be going in a trade with a first rounder. With the level of play he was at earlier he could have upwards of 20-25 goals right now if not for some bad luck. They really missed him on the top line and on the PP until Byfield took over recently. I could see a swap of something like Vilardi, Helge Grans and a third. That trade probably favors AZ. Anything more and LA is getting fleeced.
