(BUF/PHI) - Johnson for 2024 4th (PHI)
A body to replace Walker? Combine the 2 trades and it's building for the future while trying to give the fans a round of playoff hockey.

(MIN/BOS) - Maroon for Toporowski, 2026 6th (BOS)
Good for Maroon - another cup run. Good for Boston, He'll help the 4th line in the Playoffs the games he plays. Great for MN, turning a 7th into Maroon on the cheap for as long as they needed him, 2 prospects and a 6th.

(ARI/NSH) - Zucker for 2024 6th (DAL)
Arizona must have needed the cash to make a mortgage payment on their state of the art new stadium, otherwise why bother with this trade. Great pickup for nashville for nothing.

(MIN/COL) - Duhaime for 2026 3rd (COL)
Knew he was gone. Would've liked to see a couple of MNC players shipped out instead. Fair return. The 2026 will probably be a higher pick than the next 2 years looking at COL lineup and will be more useful to MN during their window.

Minnesota Wild signed Zach Bogosian (2 Years / $1,250,000 AAV)
Wanted him back for next year for the bottom pair to help the younger guys and was hoping they wouldn't let him go for a 5th or similar. I was thinking 1 yr at 1 mil is plenty fair and could live with this slight overpay but don't understand the need for 2 years. Hoping it's part of a sign and trade? and dreading when the inevitable NMC is announced.

In two years
I'd rather keep Rossi and see what he becomes. Wouldn't take a 3rd for Gaudreau until we can replace him. If you can get a first and a good prospect for Hartman I would do it - Hartman has a higher value than he is worth due to circumstances.

Wild would never take that cap hit. If Fleury wants to go to Colorado it will be for draft pick(s) only.

Maroon goes for at least a 5th to a contender. Bogosian with how he has played in a top 4 role this year goes for a 4th. Would love to see the Lightening trading for a player they are already retaining salary on from when they let him walk.

Team USA
A nice run at it. Not sure if this is for the fake World Cup or the Olympics but my 2 cents - Pavelski ageless wonder as he is and what a story to give every kid hope is a year to year maybe to make the team. With what Faber has shown this year and Billy G as GM he will be a third pair shutdown D man (probably replacing Werenski, maybe Jones or Slavin depending on their performances leading up to selection). Outside shot for Olympics is Boldy - guessing he gets cut from the fake World Cup and gets motivated - again Billy G knowing him well and slotting him in where he fits. Boesser is another that could be picked in the Kessel role as a shooter. Cool post. Much better than a Leafs fan posting a 2032 1st, Reaves, and 2 AHL players for Ek (salary retained of course).

Fair trade for Bogo, but how he has played after the trade to the Wild a contending team will offer more. Going price my guess ids someone who will make the NHL

Don't know anything about Timmons, but the wild should take that in a heartbeat. Turning a 7th for Maroon with retainage into a 5th and a prospect is a win.

Genuine question on price
Can't tell you a price for Middleton, but it would have to be an overpay they couldn't refuse. Spurgeon is out for the year and Faber needs relief so he doesn't break down (rookie, longest season with the best competition he's ever played against - if he doesn't show signs of slowing this year he will next fall). The Wild won't tank like the Black Hawks. So I am thinking the overpay would be a top a top 4 defenseman (low end top 4) and prospect/draft pick to make the trade a win for the Wild.

big moves
Why not throw in a few more 7th round picks, a Zamboni that needs engine work, Justin Bieber, and Reaves. Or did you miss spell Middleton ( in that case you are overpaying). As hard as it is to understand for those who don't watch Faber every game the Wild probably wouldn't trade him for Marner or Nylander.

Clear the logjam
A fair deal for Peeke. Haven't watched him play but won't happen. Salary too high and a stopgap on a team going nowhere doesn't maker sense. Wild season is over and they know it. Rest Faber by playing Hunt more and the let Goligoski and Merrill take the load to higher our draft pick.

Vancouver Canucks signed Brock Boeser (3 Years / $5,875,000 AAV)
I think this is a reverse "prove it deal". The player wants to see that the club will put a quality team on the ice more than a club wanting to see what the player can do.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Mitchell Marner (6 Years / $10,903,000 AAV)
As a Wild fan at least the Leafs are overpaying for young, top players. Worried aboot (Canadien spelling) your cap? We'll do Parise for Marner straight up. You should get a cup out of this squad before you suffer the down years. We'll get a consistent playoff early exit and still suffer the same fate.

Minnesota Wild signed Jared Spurgeon (7 Years / $7,575,000 AAV)
So in 5 years the Wild will have about $30 million into 4 players 35 and over. Given we are probably due for a recession in the next couple of years the cap won't rise enough to hide it and fans won't support the bubble playoff team that's been put on the ice consistently for years much longer with all the quality hockey to see in this state . Guerin has a tough road ahead (I do like his selection as GM). I have been wondering for over a year if it's not the GM, but the owner causing the issues. I love the let's win now attitude and the willingness to spend, but that just doesn't work in the salary cap era without building a solid young core or filling in around superstars with value players - Wild have neither. I love Spurgeon and would have given that easily at 5 years. If Mr. Hockey were still alive they'd probably throw at least a 5 year deal at him.

Minnesota Wild signed Kevin Fiala (2 Years / $3,000,000 AAV)
As a Wild fan I don't like it. Nashville was not a team overloded with offense last year, maybe they traded a future star for the Cup run but I doubt it. Fiala is a turnover machine. Plus/minus is a subjective stat but way too high last year if you are creating goals. He gave the opposing team too many quality chances. I think Fenton traded Granlund for a player that hopefully becomes Granlund. Being a former Nashville employee he overvalue Fiala based on when they first scouted him. Hope I'm wrong, but at least we got Rask to carry the team. . I think Fenton will pay for this.....oh wait he's unemployed and still making more than almost all us Wild fans, guess the joke on us. Anyone hiring a new GM, I'll send a resume.

Next Years 1st Rnd Exit
I just don't see getting a push over the top this year. Not enough cap room to add the scoring needed or a true #1 center that is younger. They have tried the last couple of years to add the right pieces but it has strpped them with the cap and stolen prospects/picks.. Losing Tuch and Haula also hurt.
Let Ennis' contract expire. Deal Staal at the deadline (his performance will probably demand a higher contract with his resurgence so I don't see him being resigned on a just make the playoffs team). Deal Nino to a contender at the deadline who is going to make a cup run and is willing to take the risk (if he puts up a 50 pt season pace). See what you have in these 25 year old AHLers and make some big moves next off season. They may be able to trade a top 4 D for a #1 younger center in a deal by then. And you still have room for a buyout option then if needed. Maybe deal Dubnyk at the deadline if the Wild doesn't look to be a cup contender for a year or two.
I see Suter's contract being okay by the end of his career barring injury. Parise I see as needing to retire for health reasons before it plays out, but it was a mistake contract and I really like him as a player.
