Just sell and rebuild like CHI is doint - you have Misa and Mckenna coming up. Go all in.

Mr Molson Please Buy The Sabres And Trade TT To The Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>You are nuts sir!</div></div>
well he went 68pts, 94 pts, 56 pts... I don't know the context this season (injury or what not) - but TT is LOVED in BUF, like we love Slaf - so the price to acquire him will be too high from the bat - and for that price I don't want to take the risk that he is a good 70 pts player vs. a 90 pts player.
Especially when Lindstrom/Demidov/Iginla/Catton/ Levshunov are likely to be JUST as good.

Strangely, I'd have a hard time in MTL if we parted with 2 first (the 5 OVR and 27 OVR) for TT - I'll wait for another 94 pts season before calling him a superstar... especially when the habs could potentially put their hand on one of Lindstrom/Demidov/Iginla/Catton/ Levshunov and even Celebrini if they win the lottery.

If Lev slipped and MTL were at 5, they’d have to be absolutely certain CBJ wouldn’t take Levshunov, and I don’t see how that’d be possible. If he’s there at 3 I can’t imagine they take the risk of getting fancy with that pick.
If he’s gone, my guess is they snag Lindstrom and address RHD some other way (like FA, or trying to move up with the EDM pick).</div></div>
:cheers
It's 100% a gamble.

Fair enough - and that's the safe approach for sure and likely to happen once this AGM idea gets to the real world.

I think duck wise, it could be worth it, but i think there is enough foward to be happy with whoever we pick at number 5 for the habs.
I am also not convinced that lindstrom is a lock for top 5, even demidov could fall too. draft are usually not predictable. I could also see colombus going for a LD.</div></div>
At this point in the habs' rebuild - they might be willing to pay to get some insurance on who they are picking.

Sure - but sometimes - lets say you rate Levshunov a 90, and Parekh a 87/88 - then, getting a extra first and a yound D to end up with Parekh is not bad business.
Or, depending on the interviews - a player might score a 90 in skill - but he doesn't fit the team culture, then 87 may become more attractive (Imo, that what I think happened when the habs selected Reinbacher and they let Michkov slip to 7th)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>It's an interesting proposal, and it really comes down to who we're looking at and where they're expected to go. Leshunov is top 2-3 on almost every trade board, bit I've seen some with Parekh going top 5 with Yamechuk outside the top 10, and some with Yamechuk going top 5, and Parekh outside the top 10.
Assuming we'd be happy with one of those three, it might be a gamble worth taking, but I might want a more usable player like Kovacevic instead of Barron, as I don't see Barron as a fit with the Ducks who have no need for his offensive abilities.
I'd also imagine this doesn't happen until after the lottery, in case that wasn't obvious.</div></div>
No problem, It can easily be Kovacevic.
and yes - after lottery where CHI and SJS stay in the top 2.

Intersting Idea Trade next year might work on defense

Not to mention if Barron hits (which is still very much a possibility), it would be a very painful trade considering MTL just gets a late 1st and a meh prospect... If Barron were to hit with, let's say, a west coast team, not a big deal, congrats to Barron, MTL can move on. But with the Leafs.. habs would be reminded of it for the next decade.... no thanks to that.</div></div>
Also, In term of organisational depth - I doubt habs can afford to trade two RHD in one trade... we have LHD available.. but Mailloux and Reinbacher are likely 1 or 2 season out before making the Jump.

Value wise -probably - the problem is that we would be down to 2 NHL RHD in the line-up. So for that reason, I doubt they part with Kovy just yet... maybe at TD if Mailloux can make the jump.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>I think the hangup is just the price. You've just got a pick swap (let's assume 4OA for 6OA) for Justin Barron, a guy who's at best our 5th RD. I'm all for trading back in that situation if we're viewing Catton, Iginla, Lindstrom, etc. as essentially equal, but I think that costs MTL at least their 2nd rounder this year, not just a depth defenseman.
If it's 4OA for 6OA and the WPG 1st, then yeah, that's a no brainer. No player inclusion necessary.</div></div>
You are right - the worst part, is that I was convinced that I had added WPG's first already LOL.
Yeah - it would most likely involve another pick.
I think the habs are likely to try to GARANTY Lindstrom/Demidov - and the price could even include CAL's 2025 first round pick.

Value wise you need to include the jets first but I still don’t think the jackets do it unless lindstrom, levshunov, or demidov are all off the board</div></div>
Well clearly if the Jacket see Lindstrom as the absolute BPA at 4th and not comparable to the others... then sure... it's not happening.
But if they like him... but they also like Catton, Iginla or any other D... then getting an extra first, a nice RHD prospect (could also be a LHD like Harris or Struble) to help them make the choice could be a no-brainer.

We are better off drafting a forward with the 5-6 OVR, then trading up with our assets to get another forward in the top 15.
