Quick
It’s a decent offer, but would need more imo to send a goalie of Quick’s caliber to a division rival.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Toronto fans are in denial if they think Matthews isn't signing the largest NHL deal ever.</div></div>
If Matthews were to sign an identical ~15% cap contract as McDavid, that puts him at just over 13 million AAV. 12 million wouldn't be entirely out of the question, though there is a decent chance he earns a bigger face $ amount than McDavid.
edit: not 100% sure if the 83M cap has been confirmed yet or not, but Matthews' number is based off of that.

Would doubt Vaakanainen or Tolvanen get released to go if they remain in the NHL. There's also Anttoni Honka who will likely get named for the defensive group.

Honest points I have to make on us committing to a rebuild:
Sell Quick: Petersen seems like this might be legit, and if it is, we should definitely capitalize on Quick having high value for a goalie. Either we sell him now, or we hold onto him until expansion and use him to save our young guys.
Honestly, see what’s out there for Doughty: Drew resigned with us to win, and since that’s not happening, perhaps he might be happier elsewhere. There are few teams out there who wouldn’t need a player of his caliber, so you can only assume there’s lots of teams out there that would be willing to spend big on acquiring the multi-time Norris winner.
Sell the older supporting cast: Muzzin, Carter, Martinez, etc. should all be sold to make room for the youth movement, and to acquire more pieces for said movement while they’re still positive value.

With the emergence of Cal Petersen

If Petersen is actually legit (which given how god awful we've played this year, might be true), it's something to definitely consider. I'm sure Buffalo would be a decent bidder in that sale ;)

If there’s anything good to take away from it, it’s that Desjardins seems to have outgrown his “play the vets” mentality he had in Vancouver.

I literally said that wasn’t a proposed package. It was just a list of things LA could target from them in a trade with Doughty..

So even if by some reason LA offered Doughty for Makar 1 for 1, Sakic wouldn’t take it?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MountRoyal514</b></div><div>Doughty is an elite defenceman who automatically makes the Avs legit cup contenders, so they would be fools not to consider parting ways with a prospect or two if they thought they could land him. The combined careers of Girard and Makar are unlikely to ever match Doughty's. However, I can see the Avs refusing to pass up Ottawa's first, especially now that the Sens are sinking down the standings to where we thought they would be after their surprising start. The Avs have a lot of promising young players in their system so they could part with a few to get an elite player without leaving their cupboards dry.</div></div>
The Ottawa 1st might be a stretch if there’s anything else of significant value, but I could potentially see them willing to part with it for a player of Doughty’s caliber if the price is right. Colorado has prospects to spare to make a splash at the TDL. Should be interesting for them if they’re in a good position to contend.

Might just be my opinion, but I think staying in the USHL was a poor decision on his part. League is not at all competitive for a player of his caliber, and he doesn’t seem to be producing much better than he did last year. Kakko meanwhile is producing well playing men’s hockey.
In the end I’ll be very happy with either though lol.

Meh. Like every champion caliber team, eventually you’ve gotta rebuild. I’m just excited to see the youth movement start rolling through.

Don't worry I get it! I'm not too concerned about it at this point. Whether he wants out or not, nothing changes this season for us. At least if he gets out, we get the assets in the long run.

Wouldn't say he'd have zero incentive given where we are in the standings. We all saw how the Rags did last year yet he was still considering them as an option. Panarin is gonna be a hard person to predict at this point, given the broad wants in a destination he's given (that I at least know of).

Trying to use early season minutes before you had a coaching change and applying it to current situations is flawed. They are treating him as a bottom 6 forward now...linemates tonight Amadio & Thompson....scrubs
He is now starting on the 4th line. Thats jus the reality of the situation while the kings spiral out of control</div></div>
Still has an ATOI of roughly 16 1/4 minutes since Desjardins came in, which isn't to the point where he's asking for a trade imo, but it's honestly less than I expected given Willie's reputation of playing vets. This at least is a sigh of relief with Willie as interm, that the young kids aren't gonna suffer while he's coach.
I wouldn't mind selling Kovy tbh. Didn't give up anything to get him, and gives us the assets in the future. Honestly it's a win-win for us if we do so.
