<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeychiken2234</b></div><div>The Washington Capitals are not good. I’m sorry you need to find fancy stats to make you feel better. My word is not law but my opinion is that they aren’t good and no where near being a competitive team. The D is hilariously over rated. They’re old (their older guys don’t hold a candle to bostons at any point ever) The majority of the guys injured are getting older (legit never a good thing ever) goalies are not dependable so a bounce back isn’t a guaranteed thing although possible. What magical top 6 forward are they gonna trade for? Gonna be a big price no? Over Pay a free agent? Oh and a new coach is magically going to wave his wand and make them dominate. Also the pieces they lose how are you replacing them 😂 my god you really can’t be taking me calling the capitals bad a personal thing. Because you’re getting personal and I’m worried for you. The capitals don’t care about your feelings. And neither does the athletic I promise you it’s going to be okay.</div></div>

Lets test your knowledge here for a second:

1. Which parts of the defense are "overrated"? Carlson, with 71 points in 78 games in his last full season? Jensen and Van RIemsdyk, with great eye test and analytics? Sandin and Fehervary, the young and improving defensemen? enlighten me.

2. Which Old guys on the team don't hold a candle to Bostons at any point ever? Because last I checked, only one team had the greatest goal scorer of all time, and it's not Boston.

3. Which pieces are they losing in the offseason that can't be replaced and will make them worse? Sheary?

4. Cute that you don't think that Washington would be willing to pay a large price for a top 6 winger, especially considering that's the reason they loaded up on draft capital at the deadline.

I know you're a Flyers fan, which likely means you're quite frustrated with the Flyers lack of extended playoff success over the last ten years, but there's no need to try and use your incredibly limited knowledge of a rival team to project your team's failures onto. I find it extremely funny you seem so bent out of shape that someone refuted your claim on a website that, fun fact, is created for specifically that type of discourse. Keep going on about "Muh Athletic bad" while ignoring the actual points though buddy

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeychiken2234</b></div><div>I’m legit cracking up the ATHLETIC 😂 these people don’t know Jack compared to the actual pros they’re fake hockey dorks who believe they carry more power then the actual teams they cover. I urge you to watch a capitals game with the horrible attitudes and effort, only getting older, injuries will be back as they get older. And the defense is just hilariously bad I don’t get what you don’t get. They’re no where near competing for a cup. Competing for a bottom 6-7 spot next year yes. But next time I’ll for sure be sure to ask my heroes at the athletic if it’s okay to disagree with them</div></div>

Tarik El Bashir, the top Caps athletic writer, has been around the team for forever. I would suggest you actually take your own advice and watch some capitals games from different points in the year, it is patently obvious that the team was wrecked by injuries and an incompetent coach (no innovation, failure to change from Laviolette after Carlson injury). Since Laviolette is on an expiring contract, the largest problem will be gone, and this team is going to add a top 6 forward (the GM himself said he was going for one) to go along with young guys like Strome, Milano, Protas, Sandin, Fehervary, Alexeyev, etc. It is patently obvious you are unfamiliar with the Capitals as Sandin, Jensen, Van Riemsdyk, Fehervary, and Carlson have strong defensive numbers on basically any site out there. I urge you to actually learn the game because relying on “but muh age” as Boston is top of the league with their top two centers over 35, and other such narratives is embarrassingly sad.
