Wilson trade
Not close for Wilson, he's only moving if it's for a big overpayment. Caps have no need for Skjei and Suzuki and the 2nd ar just meh pieces. Caps would probably want Jarvis/Morrow/Nikishin.

Hence, while this doesn’t give them 3-4M$ extra, it still gives them two players able to handle the NHL plays and they could easily trade another player to provide a bit more space.</div></div>
But this isn’t a very good scenario for the Caps. They don’t need more wingers, they need better wingers, top 6 wingers. Armia and Pitlick don’t fill that need. Caps decline.

Leafs 2023
Can we stop with these "1st + a couple of second tier prospects for Wilson"? Wilson wants to stay in Washington and Caps want to extend him, it'd require a big overpay to convince them to trade him.

Sens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StephL05</b></div><div>Becasue he comes with an 8 year deal lol... ottawa got cat so cheap because he had 1 year left on a deal with a 9 million dollar qo for the next season... so even with a dip in production which should see a bump next season being that his shooting percentage was 4 % lower then his career average so we can look to see that even out which would easily makes him a 30 goal 75 point player with an even higher ceiling. I think its fair value if you get him for 8 years</div></div>
But he doesn't come with an 8 year deal. He comes with 0 years left with a QO of 9 million (=one season with a cap hit of 9 million is what a team can be sure of).

I don't get how Sens could get more for DeBrincat than what CHI got. He has a statistically worse season behind him, and a higher cap hit ahead of him.

This doesn't save enough cap space to be worth it for WSH. Better to just stick with Mantha for 1 year than have Armia for 2 (+ Pitlick for 1).

Yeah, I know... He should share the duty with Backstrom and McM. It's not optimal but with better wingers than this year, it might work itself out! I think taking him back would be the only way to get some value out of Kuznetsov from CBJ.

Fair enough, but then I think TOR would want to give the '24 1st instead. Otherwise, they don't have a pick until the 5th round.

A More Balanced Team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>Sorry #9 overall is not on the table from Detroit.</div></div>
This is the NYI pick, #17 OVR. In this case, Wings both get a young RHD with their #9 and a scoring winger. Leafs get more flexibility, a young C with upside and a good prospect/asset. I'd say it's a win-win.

There's bigger problems than this in this ACGM (Caps decline easily, you'd have to pay more than a 2nd to dump those 4 players and Caps won't just give away Wilson), but Dubois on the 3rd line? He'd be the best C in Montreal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cyrus</b></div><div>severely overvaluing milano he didn't make pto with the flames and got a league minimum contract with Washington after that, foegle is a better scorer and a better fit in Washington tbh and they are only retaining 950k which is well covered in the new draft comp, I made a mistake the first time and forgot to include the others</div></div>
Milano had more points than Foegele this season, he’s cheaper and has more upside. Caps’ management wouldn’t have given him a 3 year extension if they hadn’t seen him as a fit. Edmonton would have to be the team adding the picks in this swap.

Easy decline for Caps. The cost of dumping Mantha is not Lapierre and a 2nd, and if it was, Caps would just keep Mantha.

The 5th rounder is not enough to get Caps on board with that swap. The retention itself is worth more than a 5th.
