Yes, it's either/or. https://puckpedia.com/salary-cap/unrestricted-free-agents-ufa

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Pierre Engvall (1 Year / $2,250,000 AAV)
Necc has been coming along really nicely and has been one of the under reported stories of the leafs so I doubt fans of other teams realise just how effective he has been. His arb case was a lot stronger than you think it was and we kept him cheap for another year. Good deal.
This pretty much confirms that there will be another move made though soon. All flags point to kerfoot (as I've been saying for months now)

(TOR/OTT) - future considerations for Murray + 2023 3rd rd pick + 2024 7th round pick
It's worth noting Murray's most recent performance on the Senators:
After returning from injury in Jan 2022, he played quite well:
14 games played
2.68 goals against
0.918 save percentage
Murray has also played well in the playoffs for his entire career:
51 games played
2.18 goals against
0.921 save percentage
And he's never had a stretch as bad as Jack Campbell's last 32 games:
30 games played
3.44 goals against
0.886 save percentage
Nor a playoff series under 0.906 SV%. Campbell vs Tampa was 0.897 SV%.

I imagine NSH is going to get their moneys worth for the majority of this contract. The last couple of years might be rough, but that's the price you pay.

(EDM/ARI) - Kassian + 2022 1st round pick (29) for 2022 1st round pick (32)
It should only cost one second to dump Kassian.
Instead, Edmonton went above and beyond by dropping 3 spots in the first round and throwing away a third round pick like it's nothing.
Arizona wins the trade.

(TOR/CHI) - Mrázek + 2022 1st round pick for 2022 2nd round pick
Lmao everyone on this site has been screaming for months that it will cost an arm and a leg to move Petr and stupid leafs fans were delusional for saying it would cost anything less and all it ended up costing was 13 spots that amount to virtually no actual draft pick value.
****ing LOL
The fact that after all that, this isn't all the way leafs win says everything you need to know about CF users.
Leafs win easily and it isn't close

(NYR/COL) - Georgiev for 2x 3rd, 1x 5th
Two things most people here are overlooking:
1) those picks are closer to a 4th, 4th and 6th
2) bringing in Georgiev frees up at least 4mil+ in cap space (vs signing Kuemper at like 6-6.5mil) which can be used to retain a Kadri or Burakovsky (or similar type player)
