Idk, he's had a rough few years. People on here have him making under a mil, which isn't gonna happen. If anything, I think he tops out at 4 million.

So it essentially boils down to quality. So I can distance myself, but I do love some players like Seabrook (just not his contract), Doughty and Keith etc. So, I would try to get them on my team but I know essentially cap talks louder.</div></div>
Same here, I still fall in love with players but I understand it's a business and that players come and go. I root for the logo on the front not the name on the back. I try to be as unbiased as possible and not think/make decisions based on emotion posed to logic, reasoning and understanding.

That's because hockey fans are fickle, that's what I love about baseball...always go for the larger sample size and DON'T FALL IN LOVE WITH PLAYERS! (although most of my fellow blue jay's fans are fickle as well) but everyone who hated him now suddenly loves him because of the Marner situation...and they will fall back in love with him too.

If we could get him without sending AM34, Mitch, Nylander, Rielly, JT, Muzzin or Andersen, I'm all for it! Like I said I would LOVE to see Doughty on the Leafs, I'm just not sure we could make a deal work for both teams unfortunately (ps I clicked on the other person's comment by accident as I thought it was yours at first) but I truly do like the idea! Believe me, I've thought of it myself, but like I said I just can't see a common ground between the two teams. This site is full of them unfortunately, just try not to let them get you down.

Look no further than my comment in your last thread. Not trying to “hate" as I would love to see Doughty in a Leafs uniform...but not at his age + his contract, especially if we're trading Mitch for him.

Hey, I get going after Doughty but the reason the Leafs won't do this deal is because of Doughty's age, money and term left on his contract, also he plays and has played a very heavy style game (being in the West his whole career). The reason the Kings won't move him is because they would want a return like the one you did but they know they won't get it also he can be a great mentor for the young kids as they come along.
Try trading Ceci to a team like Anaheim as they need RHD whereas NJ already have 4. I don't know if you know this or not but Ceci's only making $700k for the year as the Leafs already paid $3.8 in signing bonuses. Try for a 5th or add a late pick to get a higher one in return.
You really like Whitecloud...eh lol take out Marincin and try adding Timashov instead. Just a thought, but I like where you're going with this:) I also get trying to do something different as the same thing gets to be boring lol.

Washington won't go for that as they are trying to compete as well. Montreal won't take that deal either as there is not enough value going back. You really need to stop trading players that have signed and not played a game yet unless they are supposed to be deadline deals in which case you need to specify also stop signing marginal players to such long term deals as they are easily replaceable. Just my opinion though.

Ask yourself why would Ottawa take on 3 more years of a bad contact? Chicago offered the 3rd overall pick in this past draft to try to get a team to take on Seabrook and got no takers. Remember you have to look at trades from both teams perspective.

Thanks for the suggestion. The game has him listed as a playmaker, and looking at his stats, he has quite a lot of assists. However he’s also really physical and large, so I guess you can categorize him as that too.

Seabrook should be traded due to the salary. He isn’t as bad as people think, but sure as hell not worth the cap hit. Also, people want Seabs gone to make it easier to resign Debricat and strome. Trade is a lose lose for both teams with the hawks taking on even more salary, not shedding it

He became a New York Jet and since retired. Does broadcasting back in Chicago now with Lance Briggs and Alex Brown.
As for the trade. Seabrook's value has never been lower than it is right now. I know I'm bias here, but I also look into the details more than most on this site do. Seabrook clearly isn't fast and can't hold his own pairing like he used to be able to do. BUT, he shouldn't be forced with literally (5) 1st timers and the likes of Brandon Davidson/Daniel Manning last year. Seriously, Seabs played ~20% of the season with Keith (and played pretty good), but the other ~80% was with a rotating cast of AHLers or Rookies. He shouldn't have been put in that position and he won't be going forward.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLSage</b></div><div>This trade makes absolutely no sense for the Maple Leafs. Why would the Leafs trade Mitch Marner who is a franchise player and possible generational player for 3 questionable players. The Leafs can simply promote players from the Marlies instead of taking these players. Marner is a game changer and has lead the team in points the last 2 years and would have lead the team in his first year if he did not miss some games because of health issues.
The Leafs have been waiting for over 25 years to obtain a unique player like Marner and you want to trade him away for nothing. You are actually starting to remind me of Marc Bergavin, the most incompetent GM in the NHL. In my opinion, Marner will be playing with the Leafs longer than both Matthews and Nylander, so he is not going to be traded. Both Dubbas and Babcock will be run out of Toronto if the Leafs trade Marner.</div></div>
Calm down, Paul. Marner isn't the best RFA (Rantanen is), and he's not a franchise/generational talent. Elite? Yes. But not franchise/generational. Also, are you sure you know who Matt Dumba is? A "questionable player", he is not. He's an elite, young RHD. Not as good/valuable as Marner, but Donato makes up for part of it. Replace Seeler with a couple of picks (2 2nds) and Dubas has something to think about.

I know you love your son and should be proud of him, but he's not a generational player and no one cares about junior awards.
