Hawks next yr
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>What does "2C on paper" mean exactly? Who is taking faceoffs on that line? Who is providing 3rd man back support in the D zone? Why wouldn't you put Dixkinson (or Nazar) an actual center on the 2nd line and use Guttman (or Nazar) another actual center on the 3rd line?
Sorry, but Nazar is already FAR MORE skilled than Guttman or Donato. If that's Nazar's spot in the grand plan, the Hawks send him to Rockford to play top line minutes with a couple of his future teammates. Let Carrier or Puustinen play those 12 minutes a night on the 4th line.</div></div>
AA can take faceoffs, Rielly Smith's a reliable on the defensive side of the puck. The reason why I put Dickinson below Athanasiou is while even though he's a better forward than AA that 17-16-15 line ended up being one of our better line combinations this season. But if having a traditional C is that important then Dickinson or Donato can slot in inbetween Reichel and Smith.
As for Nazar, Richardson got him for two games and ended up playing him primarily with the likes of Joey Anderson & Landon Slaggert. The general quality of this forward group is pretty low so Nazar's gonna end up playing 13-15 minutes a night either way. He can play alongside Dickinson, or even top line wing as the year goes on, I don't mind starting him out with the likes of Guttman & Donato at 5v5 while giving him PP1 looks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>Or Detroit keeps their 1st and buys out Holl.</div></div>
They've only got ~$29 mil to bring back Seider, Raymond, Kane, Veleno. Plus they need to fix up their defense, and their goaltending isn't really good either.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>So your idea is to keep Nazar in the NHL, but then play him on the 4th line w/ two guys far less skilled than Nazar is? That makes no sense. AA at 2c really isn't a solution either. Also doubt the Hawks are giving any UFA a 4 year deal.
And Detroit declines that deal easily.</div></div>
Chicago's rolling four bottom six caliber lines so I don't think it matters much if he's 4RW on paper. Sure he could be deployed with better linemates even though Guttman & Donato are relatively similar skill wise to his two most common linemates Richardson has played him with so far this year. Athanasiou's just a 2C on paper, he's just there since because of Reichel.

XhekajsAnderson for Minten Jarnkrok Robertson amp Villeneuve
Toronto isn't doing that. Josh Anderson isn't worth his cap hit even at double 33% retention. Järnkrok is cheaper and better. Heck even Gregor is as good as Anderson and similar stylistically. Trading Fraser Minten and Robertson for that would be a bad move.
Chicago also wouldn't do that. They aren't going to retain $1.2 mil per for three years for depth pieces and a marginal upgrade in the back end of the draft, where it really doesn't matter anyways. It would take something of value like a 1st round pick.
I think Montreal keeps Anderson through this offseason, but that would be a solid deal for them. I just don't see them trading Arber Xhekaj to Toronto, or anyone within the division tbh.

Rockford Icehogs next season
I could see Roos head back to Sweden next year. He was fairly good in the 17 games he featured in with Chicago last season, but he's been stuck in RFD and he doesn't really have much of a pathway up to the Hawks at this point. I wouldn't mind bringing him back since I've seen him play his off side alongside the likes of Allan & Phillips and that itself it useful, but he'll probably want a lot more $ to play in the minors.
Scott Powers in one of his recent articles says the Hawks likely won't sign Basse unless some drastic happens.
I think Dominic James heads back to uni since he only played two games this season after a major shoulder injury. Unless Rockford can give him ample ice time in their top 9, I'm fine with him going back to Minnesota for a senior year.
With Marcel Marcel idk if getting reps with Indy next season or just sending back to the Czech Republic would be better for his development. Either way his ceiling is probably a 13F anyways.
But yeah Rockford on paper looks really good, and Anders Sorensen is a solid coach. Now its just improving from being good to being great.

Lineup and decisions
Personally I hope 70% of these guys aren't brought back lol. Tyler Johnson will probably leave. Colin Blackwell's alright but I would much rather see him go either a better FA signing or for Guttman/Slaggert full time. I think I would take Jaycob Megna back as a 7D option if I had to choose between him and Zaitsev, but I'd let all three of Megna/Zaitsev/Tinordi walk for a quality RHD 7D like Chad Ruhwedel that can help Phillips and Kaiser when they're up with the Hawks. Colin Miller or Jalen Chatfield might work too.
Other than the built in chemistry Louis Crevier has with Kaiser, I don't think his ceiling is anything higher than a top pair AHL d man. I would be happy for him to prove me wrong but contrary to all the praise he got I think he was pretty bad in his stint with the Hawks.
I like Entwistle and would be fine with him being back, but he's had a pretty poor year, both in terms of actual ability and luck. He's a replacement level player and 24, I think it's a max one year deal, and a figure close to his $892k QO. Joey Anderson meanwhile has looked really good. He's surpassed Entwistle, R. Johnson, Hardman on the depth chart and he's been better than higher profile pending RFAs like Raddysh & Guttman this year. I'd give him a raise and bring him back on a one year deal.

Off Season Trade
I don't think Chicago's at the stage in their rebuild to go after Elias Pettersson. Buffalo & Detroit would be the two teams I think make the most sense, maybe Montreal, Anaheim.
This would completely deplete Chicago's prospect pool and force them to build through free agency which would completely butcher what they're doing. Trading Alex Vlasic also wouldn't make much sense, it would leave them with Korchinski and a few other lower rated d prospects. That 1st round pick is going to be a top 4 pick and I'd rather have Demidov/Lidstrom/Levshunov on an ELC coming along at the same time as Nazar & Moore.
Chicago isn't really a compatible partner.

1st overall
I don't really see why Chicago would do this if they do end up with first overall. Having two young franchise C's is a rarity and they've got the prospect pool and draft capital to build around potentially both Celebrini & Bedard.
And like mentioned above, that pick is 7th and they've been playing well under St. Louis. I'd maybe be more interested if that pick landed in the top 4 range, but I don't see that happening unless the Habs get ravaged by injuries again or move up through the lottery. For me it would have to be 2025 MTL 1st (7th ovr) + Juraj Slafkovský + unprotected 2025 MTL 1st. Montreal wouldn't do that but at the same time there's little reason for Chicago to not pair Celebrini with Bedard.

Toronto's not doing that. Acciari's been terrible, and he's a worse asset than Reaves.
Nieto's nothing special, just an ordinary defensive fourth liner, and Ruhwedel's okay but Toronto isn't going to give up Nick Robertson for a bunch of spare parts.

Reworked and balanced roster
Kämpf's a bad asset. One of the worst forwards this year, and he's making $2.4 mil a year for the next three years with a partial NTC through 2026. His value is at the lowest it'll ever be. Toronto would have to pay to get him off the books this early on.
Treliving extended him thinking he could be more than just a 4th line defensive & PK specialist, when in reality he doesn't have the offense to be a 3C.

Vlasic will probably get at bare minimum $3 mil a year on his next deal. No matter what kind of term he signs for, he's due for a nice pay raise.
Wouldn't really sign any of those UFAs let alone give them multi year deals. They're all below replacement level. Chicago will probably shell out a few $ for a top 6 caliber forward in free agency. And hopefully trade or let go of some of those forwards.

Ryjo beheading
I reckon Chicago would do this. Dach's a solid prospect but I'm willing to bet they can find a better player at 29th-32nd. Or they can use that COL 1st + TBL 1st and move up into the early 10s.
I could see Chicago icing Johansen next year and potentially building back his value before flipping him, but I'd rather just buy him out.
Personally think there's no way Colorado does this, Tyler Johnson's a shell of his former self. Often injured, limited production, he isn't going to give you value on the penalty kill. It's really all name brand value. If he's healthy he might have a bit left in him to be a useful third liner for a contender but I wouldn't target him if I were the Avalanche.

Plenty of other ways to hit the cap floor, not to mention how easy it is to hit the floor anyways.
Those three you mentioned can at least play. Goodrow isn't really good at anything. Plus those three all expire after 2026, Goodrow's doesn't, he also has a 15 team NTC, and his buying him out doesn't seem like a feasible option. Rangers will be good in 2026, that 3rd round pick will be in the 80s to 90s, hardly a sweetener.

Two big splash
I like Thomas Chabot, great skater, great puck mover, really good offensive d man. At the same time his defensive underlyings have been pretty suspect for the past four or five years. Coupled with his $8 mil AAV contract with four more years, 10 team NTC about to kick in, and the contract being backloaded I don't really see a reason for us to acquire him.
Seth Jones basically does everything he does, while also being overpaid like Chabot. Meanwhile Alex Vlasic has been excellent this season and looks like a good top four d man for years to come which makes trading for Chabot and his $8 mil hit quite redundant.
As for the rest of the proposal, Dominik Kubalík is an empty calorie scorer, Anton Forsberg is a negative asset. Taylor Hall I reckon Chicago would want to keep around, while there's no point in trading away Lukas Reichel. Besides the value in this trade being lopsided in favour of Ottawa, I don't see why Chicago would trade for Chabot.

sabres fans
MoJo's a decent middle 6 forward though injury riddled and maybe/slightly overpaid. Olli Määttä's a decent second pair d, better off playing on the third pair and also overpaid with more term left. The only thing he has going for him is his age but he has yet to improve as a reliable solid second pair defensive d man. Calvin de Haan's decent, although with his injury history that's often with his shoulder and the term and price attached to him, I also don't see the Sabres doing a one for one with him for Johansson. I think the only way this happens is if the Hawks add a significant pick or a somewhat good prospect.
