I really like Dries as a 4C/5C, and I need to get rid of salary (seeing as, if I still had Dillon, I would be 3M over the cap)

True but when Adam coached Nolan he did good and since Canucks have hronk Foote could play with hirose or oel leaving bear on bottom but the Canucks have had interest with cal

Another Offseason

I think of we bring in Johansen we need to move a bit of cap out. Although it doesn't seem like it now but we could have issues next year with Raymond, Seider, Berggren and Rasmussen extensions. Also it would make it tough to pursue a higher end free agent like Debrincat. I also totally expect some players to be brought in this free agency as well which will likely be more than one year deals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Markassmark</b></div><div>I think Canucks only do garland for a 2nd if it's a true cap dump. I can't see them taking back even more salary. Maybe if granlund is retained but I don't see Pitt wanting to do that</div></div>
Yeah I would say the same. Granlund at 3MM is a good 3rd liner. Have the Pens eat 1ishMM and it would make sense.

Spending to the cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Markassmark</b></div><div>I think he has chance at being there at 11 because the amount of talent in this draft year. He also plays I a nontraditional draft league so I think he was slept on a bit. Also being from Austria has to make him a bit of a sleeper because they aren't at most of the premier international tournaments. He's the best dman in the draft. It would be nice to dump the cap hit but you can live with one more year of Myers if it means you get the guy you want.</div></div>
Thank you for explaining it!

Canucks decline. We traded Lazar for that pick, why would we trade the pick to get him back when we've already seen that he isn't a fit for the team?

Canucks easily decline, hang up, and block your number. Moving back from 11 to the late teens/early 20's plus giving up Podkolzin is an absurd price to dump Myers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>Id probably like this for the sabres assuming it wasnt just a rental</div></div>
Even if Brodie waived for the move, there's no way BUF would give up a 1st for a 33 year old dman when Buffalo <em>might</em> be in the playoffs next year. Those shouldn't start flying until the team is a real cup contender.

What I think Pat wants this offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRevanchist17</b></div><div>Hirose will be under $1M
Hoglander will be under $1M
That is WAAAAYYYY too much money for Compher
Would be a W if we could get that much for Garland, especially since we wouldn't be taking money back.</div></div>
I think that our best bet for long term value is a long and low deal, can be buried aside from 100k - and that will be probably settled this off season when it will be completely buryable. It’s a risk yes, but if we could do this, and then reap the benefits for 4 years that would be huge
Comphear’s best comp is copp, and JTC fits all our needs for a 3C and he could slide up to a winger position if needed, he’s great at the dot, he’s a great PK guy, and can contribute offensively, I would love to have him lower, but I think he is a guy that Patty will look at
I think so too on the garland front, but it would be a fit for WASH as if they have a top line with Strome and Ovie they will need a playmaking winger who comes in at a reasonable hit who can play top line mins

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Markassmark</b></div><div>You're numbers aren't entirely accurate. It includes OEL and Mikheyevs money in the 85 but not in the 19 roster spots. That $85 mill includes 2 players who will start on LTIR and most likely be there all season. That frees up 5.75. So really they have 79.4 million and 21 players. Still not great but definitely manageable.
It's really Calgary thought they could contend for the west after the year they had so they had to add. The Canucks want to contend for a playoff spot so they will do lateral moves to try to get a little better. They won't hurt the future to free cap space. GM Allvin said he's not doing buyouts so they aren't going to hurt the future for cap relief</div></div>
Okay. Checked again and they have $1.14M in space.
That's with 23 players not including Hoglander or Dermott, Bear and Horse signed ($3.1M total), no raises, and Poolman and Pearson on LTIR.
So perhaps it is possible. Depends who gets raises and whether you're better off letting others go before Myers.
