Yes, I'm fully aware of how development works especially with having to deal with Devils fans on Twitter wrongly labeling Kakko and Lafreniere busts every other day. It's not that I don't like Kakko - you are right about his potential. But we're up to year 5 now. If he's going to be in the way of a bonafide 1RW... then so be it. 3RW is an easier hole to fill.</div></div>
Maybe he never pans out as a 1 RW, but his next contract should be short enough, probably 2 years and cheap enough that they can always still move him next year or next off-season if he doesn't take a step forward. What I would hate to see is they give him away and then he becomes a top 6 RW.

Highly doubt it happens in real life but this would be something I'd legit consider if it did</div></div>
Goodrow is extremely buyout friendly after this year, so dont want to lose Kakko for basically nothing

NYR declines 100/100 times... First of all we (I) do not want Mailloux... He broke the rules, he can be sorry, but he crossed a line that can never be crossed. 2nd of all Laffy has been the best RW on this team by a country mile... Laffy has hit his stride and his ceiling will just go up...

Not defending Trouba at all, just pointing out how a nobody on a hockey chat site knows more about the Rangers than their future hall of fame head coach and hall of fame defensive coach. Maybe you can tell Benny how to improve Igor and Quickies games too?

Nope from the Rangers. They need RW's and are not giving Kakko away.

For starters, you need to use a 24-25 template. The 23-24 template no longer applies as the trade deadline has passed.
Just as important, nobody is giving you top prospects already contributing in the NHL for old, expensive UFAs. That's just pure fantasy.

I agree but Kakko also isn't worth that 1st alone, so it's not a return that will ever be in the table for him.
Also, I just saw what that other guy replied with, report him

Rangers would love to get Frank Vatrano for that package but it's the wrong pieces. Matt Robertson is a LhD. The right package for Frankie Wheels is Braden Schneider and your 2024 or 2025 first.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>Easy pass from the Rangers. Wouldn't pay a 1st for any Ducks F that wasn't Carlsson, McTavish, Zegras or Terry tbh. Doesn't matter how many you package together.</div></div>
Amazingly ignorant comment. You should investigate hockey west of the Mississippi. Vatrano would be 5th on the Rangers in scoring and is having a better season than nos. 6 and 7 (or LaFreniere and Kakko!) put together, and he still has a year left on his contract at only $3.65 million.

Ducks 24 TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LosPatos</b></div><div>I’m no expert, but if GM’s don’t value him high, it probably means you’re over valuing him. Be realistic, if Kakko was putting up these on a team like the Ducks Sharks or Blackhawks, Rangers fans would be screaming that Kakko is not a good player.
And if you want “stats” Kakko’s offensive rating with percentile is -2.2 and Vatrano’s offensive rating with percentile is +4.3. So no, they are not as close as you think.
Kakko, while decent in a defensive category, is not worth as much as all you Rangers fans think because he’s lack of offensive brings his value down.</div></div>
Few things here...
- NYR are 26-7-2 with Kakko in the lineup. They are 11-9-1 without him in the lineup. Yet everyone says he has little to no impact.
-He has 7 points in his past 9 games since being put on a line with Brod & Cuylle. That's all at evens too.
-Vatrano is shooting over 4% higher than his career average. Some regression is bound to happen.
-16 of his 45 points are on the PP, where his minutes would greatly reduce after a trade to NYR
-Vatrano is at 2.0 p/60 at even strength, kakko is at 1.6 p/60.
Basically, the above is not worth a 1st rounder, or giving up kakko's defensive impact / upside (as we know Vatrano is at his best rn).

Kakko who’s injury prone and is widely seen around the league as a bust = underrated
The math ain’t mathing dawg.</div></div>
Kakko isn’t widely seen as a bust around the league, it’s just that people on this site largely do not understand statistics. Even if he wasn’t viewed as highly by GMs as I feel he is, then that’s the literal definition of underrated. As for Vatrano - His 5v5 output isn’t even much higher than Kakko’s, he’s just force-fed minutes In all situations.
The only reason there are this many Kakko proposals in the first place is because of one single unsubstantiated report from months ago.

One of the all-time worst takes I've ever seen on CapFriendly. Anaheim counters with a 2024 fourth for Will Cuylle.
Frankie Vatrano plays defense so horribly that he's been on ice during the penalty kill only long enough to amass exactly the same number of short-handed goals and points as Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad, who lead the Rangers in that category. And as to "not producing" at 5-on-5: he would be tied for fifth on the Rangers in even-strength goals and sixth on the Rangers in even-strength points. And there are some subtle indications which shouldn't escape even you that the Rangers are a better team than the Ducks.
