The big 3 blunders were:
1. Keeping Holl over McCann
2. Kadri trade
3. Marchment for Malgin</div></div>
Marchement would’ve never made this Leafs team. He was given multiple opportunities as well. He just flourished cause Florida lack of depth in 2021 and they bought low on a lot and hit home runs with multiple. Kinda like the Leafs with off season with Kase, Bunting and Kampf

They won’t move Muzzin. Muzzin will flourish in less minutes while Sandin will flourish in more. They Leafs have a legit pipeline on the blue line and Rubins is a lot like Muzzin. He will be good as well. Big hitting dman with great defensive upside

Anyway if it ends up being:
Mo-TJ
Muzz-Timmoth
Sandin-Holl
Mitz
I'm fine with it going into playoffs. Would be nice for a small upgrade for 1.5 years tho until Lily is able to take it full time</div></div>
That why I want a Leafs to trade for a dman with 2 yrs term. Perfect timing as by then Niemela will be ready for the NHL. Hopefully by then our d pairs will be:
Rielly-Brodie
Sandin-Liljegren
Muzzin-Niemela
Rubins

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>But isn't that a great spot for Arizona or any bottom ender club to be in? There are so many teams at the cap, wanting to get rid of players this summer, and UFAs looking for a good payday, Arizona has no reason to be worried about the cap floor. IMO they can get some good sweeteners for taking on bad cap. Lots of sellers of cap and few buyers.</div></div>
They really should be worried. I think a lot of player won't even want to go there with their arena situation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>An exaggeration, but one with a lot of truth in it. They have Keller, Schmaltz and Andrew Ladd (!) at forward, plus RFAs Crouse, Fischer and Hayton, plus Chychrun, Gostisbehere, Timmins and the probably promotable Soderstrom on defense. No one else currently in the system looks like NHL quality next year (with the possible exception of Guenther), so the trade of any roster person almost requires the Coyotes to get two roster players back.</div></div>
I gave 2 players that can make the roster next year, possibly 3 with Mikko

Dumba is the odd man out due to cap casualties. this is an all in year for Minny and them being interested in Chariot and Manson they can add both without any retention

Arizona will need to hit the cap floor next season. I think outside Keller and Chychurun no else is signed beyond next season from that roster

Salary reasons. Them freeing up 6 million can lead to massive deadline acquisitions for lower costs as retention will be minimal.

I want it to be a deadline move. Minny needs cap space in the offseason and Callen Addison is ready for top 4 roll imo. If he's not I can see Minny go after Manson as he plays that Minny style defence.

TBH taught he would've cost less coming off an injury and Nashville being successful w/o him. Maybe not the guy we are looking and afford to give up the assets for now but definitely a player that can solidify the top 4

I think it’s due to the system the Devils play. Leafs are far more defensively sound and aware. NJD is young and a lot of their forwards are defensively responsible as yet

I think because they’re getting Hiroven it’s gonna be a next year 1st.
GMKD will probably in that drafts utilize our 2022 1st and trade down to get more quantity as from picks 25-90 players usually have the same ceilings and if you scout effectively you can find hidden gems in those parts of the draft

Because he provides something we need which is a defensive dman as every dman on our pairs can move the puck and Dermott is 7th dman when he’s easily 5-6 on other teams. Winnipeg needs puck movement from the back end. I even paid a premium to get him.

All are below average minus Pionk. Y’all don’t get it the new NHL requires everyone to be able to move the puck. You can’t have dedicated puck mover on a pair. It’s why Jets still play chip and chase hockey in 2022.

By the time young guys are ready, which is 1-2 season out at most, it makes hardly any sense to keep the older player. Get value now vs get value later. Even if you LAK made the playoffs against Calgary, Vegas, Edmonton or Colorado do y’all really have a chance? It’s better to take steps but miss the playoffs rather than give a false sense of hope. LAK currently doesn’t have any game breakers as yet in their young core. They’re coming but not yet.

Deadline
I’d take that trade for Manson, however I think the Leafs might go after someone like TJ Brodie who can move the puck a little better and still have strong defensive prowess rather than Manson. Maybe if they plan to pair Manson with Rielly then a trade like this will go down but that’s just my 2 cents tho.

Fair but they’re also starting to come down to earth a little. St. Louis, Calgary and Edmonton all have games in hand and Nashville currently is at best a playoff team and someone who in my opinion won’t do much against Minnesota, St. Louis or Colorado or Vegas if they’re wildcard team.
Ik Poille doesn’t like making moves like these but he should start to consider some of them. Get futures and build for tomorrow around players Askarov, Jenantot, and etc.

Nobody knows honestly. I think firing Keefe and Dubas are bad moves especially with how forwarding thinking the management group is here in Toronto.
As much as people dislike it you have to keep running it back with this core over and over again. There’s too much talent for them not to eventually go on a run
